I'm from New Zealand and I've visted South Dakota twice. One of my favorite places. Beautiful landscapes. Sure it's isolated but that's what makes it special.
@@johnperic6860 The education system is awful. Out of all states we ranked 51st when it comes to paying teachers. When we gave them a pay raise to make it look better it dropped back down the next year.
His number 1 reason honestly would convince me to move there, he basically said you can live peacefully and then shows beautiful landscapes while he is trying to convince us that more people is supposed to be a good thing
As a resident for all of my life, I'm going to give my insight on all the points he covered. 10. While we do refer to East River and West River, neither side really looks down on the other. It's mainly just a term to describe the different characteristics. West River is more mountainous, with forests and beautiful landscapes and ranches. East River is more flat, with endless, thriving fields scattered across many farms and ranches. 9. I have never really noticed people being terrible with numbers from where I live. There are a LOT of farmers around here, and they have to deal with measurements and numbers each day (i.e. measuring and calculating chemical usage). They do a lot of this work in their head. There probably are a few places where people are not the brightest, but I'd have to say that the survey was probably rather biased towards one area. 8. Yeah, Mount Rushmore itself is a little bit overrated. However, I do have to say, you can easily make a nice adventure out of it. In the area before Mount Rushmore, there is an ice cream shop that sells the BEST ice cream I have ever tasted. In addition, Mount Rushmore is in the center of beautiful mountains and forests. If you're a fan of hiking, there are plenty of trails in the area. In addition, the badlands are not too far away, and if you haven't driven through those, you're missing out. If you're still bored, Rapid City is just a hop away, and they have numerous small and large attractions. 7. Okay, for this one, you HAVE to know the rest of the facts. In South Dakota, you can begin driving by yourself at the age of 14 after driving with a parent for 3 months (Passing Driver's Education Course) or 6 months (Passing DMV Driver's Test). This gives an additional 2 YEARS for teens to be driving. Naturally, since more teens are on the road, the fatalities would be higher, especially if the study was per population. 6. I don't think I've ever heard of much corruption; at least, not what I consider corruption. There have been a few times were a few bucks were thrown into the general fund, but apart from that, there's not much of it whatsoever. 5. Yeah, there's a LOT of casinos in South Dakota, which probably encourages quite a few gambling problems. It's pretty bad; in a town of about 150 people, the gas station has a casino. So, yeah, this one's pretty accurate. 4. Okay, this one I have a problem with. This myth derives from people on the internet creating stereotypes JUST BECAUSE they've hardly ever heard of South Dakota. There is PLENTY to do here. We have stores for everything you could possibly imagine; we have fun activities like paintball, airsoft, laser tag, golf, ice rinks, race tracks, etc; and, of course, our outdoor activities. We pride ourselves on that last one; we are rather famous for our pheasant hunting, as well as other forms of hunting and fishing. 3. So, I don't know too much about this one, but if you're moving to South Dakota just to commit a crime, maybe you should be re thinking your life choices... 2. Okay, I believe that these are 100% true; I could definitely see that happening in South Dakota. It's a really fun culture. Anyhow, as for the sales part of Craigslist, there are TONS of listings for whatever you need. Most people buy their next vehicle via Craigslist, and they never seem to come up empty handed. 1. The way you've chosen the images looks like it's just combines and bison, and that's not accurate. Yes, it's definitely a lower populated state, but I consider it a very adaptive state, if you were to word it like that. For example, if you're looking for the city life, we have large, booming towns like Sioux Falls and Rapid City with plenty of new residential areas for you to look into. If you're looking for the suburban life, we have many medium towns that have plenty of stores and restaurants, but still have a bit of a home town feeling. Then, we have tiny towns and rural areas. When I say tiny, I mean TINY. Like, 150 people tiny. It may sound really lonely, but these tiny towns are only about 20 miles away from medium towns (And for those of you who don't know SD driving, that's about a 20 minute drive). So, overall, it's not just cow tippin' country. There's options here. Overall, it's like you said at the end: It's not great for everyone. Some people just can't live like South Dakotans do. But, it's definitely not as terrible as some of these sections made it out to be. I like the video, and I can't be mad at you, because you were just working with what you had. I just dislike some of the source's information.
Bro The Mount Rushmore state is not what makes South Dakota. “South Dakota” and we didn’t rank last on the reading thing Edit: ok I got to admit teen drivers are true And a small population helps us with the virus AND FOR CRYING OUT LOUD ATLEAST 75 PERCENT OF PEOPLE ARE FARMERS/RANCHERS AND WILL HAVE COWS OR HORSES MAYBE EVEN SOMETIMES BUFFALO BUT ALL I GOTTA SAY IS ME AND MY GRANDFATHER DONT HAVE 200 HEAD OF COWS FOR NOTHING WE MAKE SOME GOOD PROFITS OFF OF THAT AND WHY AM I SAYING THIS IN A COMMENT
And @FutureGaming he said Mount Rushmore... there is also, crazy horse, the badlands and the Capital of are state. I must say this I gotta admit I love feeding the ducks and geese along with the fish.
Even in Sioux Falls it doesnt feel like a big city. We lived in the Atlanta metro area for 4 years and we love how sioux falls is laid out, feels like a small city but its the largest city in the state. Plus when you come from somewhere like the ATL met, you appreciate living in a small city again, like my wife n i both used to.
OMG. Florida is full of crime, overpriced housing, blood sucking mosquitoes and other scary bugs. hurricanes, floods, sinkholes, killer heat. crazy people, Parrot Heads. If the heat does not kill you; something else will. Florida does have gorgeous beaches that are beautiful in winter.
Briana Reese Ok, cool I just liked. SD is lovely with nice people and tranquil, beautiful scenery and it's far from boring. That's why I intend to move there :) And I can't wait.
Elias Hawk You really shouldn't because you have a great state and you shouldn't let the words of someone who likely doesn't know as much about the state as let's say people who live there, like you, get to you.
Years ago I lived in Mobridge SD and I just returned from a visit to Sturgis. South Dakota has very friendly and patriotic residents that will take the time to talk with you. Currently I live in California where it is rush rush all day long. I miss the hunting and fishing on the Oahe Reservoir. Briggs needs to do a video on the 10 reasons he is full of bison manure.
Though I don’t live in either SD or CA, I think I’d take Sturgis during Rally season over Los Angeles during rush hour. Unless I was riding a Chinese motorcycle or something.
South Dakota gets to experience about all types of weather and I love that because we get to have fun in the sun one day and maybe the next day we are sledding in the beautiful Black Hills
Love the Black Hills..been thru a few times..im in Montana but love SD..a nice native kid at a gas station said if i get tired of MT im welcome in SD..♡
Griffin Aasen there is a little bit of a rivalry, the closer to the river you get the worse it is. I grew up in Chamberlain and was always a rivalry with the Oacoma kids. It's weird.
Raised there it was all good tell the 90s but then the drugs got to out of hand David letterman called Yankton crankton the drug problem in South Dakota is really bad or was when I left now I live in northern Minnesota in quite little town with my family I'll take the state income tax the pay is much higher it doesn't matter best year SD pay wise less then half of my worst year in MN
It's September 2019. Will be retiring next year. And yes, I'm moving to South Dakota from Boston Massachusetts... let me explain why! Three main reasons, and it's what South Dakota does not have. Outrageous crime, ridiculous taxes on just about everything, and I saved the best for last, and it only requires one word " Democrats" !!!
I will definitely move out of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, MN 1000% to live in SD, because Democrats have the worst protection and support. The City Council of MPS (Minneapolis-Saint Paul) MN are still voting to dismantling and defunding the policies department. There will be more criminal, terrorism, thief and drunk drivers in town if no police
Joseph!!! Congrats on your retirement. I am originally from NY, so I can relate....I currently live in NC and looking to relocate and SD popped up in my search. I agree with your last point-wholeheartedly.
I’m about to move to Sioux Falls at the age of 69. I’ve no connection with the state, but what I’ve experienced, is the America that we’ve lost over the past few decades. I am so looking forward to the big skies, the prairie breeze and the friendliness of its denizens.
No state income taxes, low taxes, no biannual vehicle smog checks or inspections, no recycling redemption, no excessive taxes on water, power, gas, cell phone, or cable bills, etc. Pretty much less illegal aliens and liberals than the blue states. This makes South Dakota worth living in.
+RedRider1600 please ffs don't tell me this! I'm looking to settle down in SD BECAUSE of their Right leaning towards gun rights. I dont want to see more dems I am fleeing maryland and traveling halfway around the country to get tf away from them!
Not all Californians are Liberals though. Outside the major cities, they are mostly Conservatives. California used to be conservative state, 3 or 4 decades ago, until they got flooded with immigrants, and brainwashed by the liberal mainstream media, and the liberal movie and music industry. There are about 25 million liberals and 15 million conservatives in Cali. Liberals outnumber conservatives by a whopping 10 million. But, 15 million conservatives is more than 15 times the population of SD, and more than the entire populations of most states. So there are a lot more conservatives in Cali than SD, or any other state. Not everyone in SD are conservatives. I think it's the reverse of California, about a 40 - 60% split.
The guy talks out of his as$ for all of his videos. I believe he has only lived in California and Oregon, so take anything he says with a massive size chunk of salt. I want to move to SD and start up my own company.
@Dean Burrows education these days equals indoctrination. The amount of "college graduates" that still have no clue how to get by in live is astounding.
@@Labyrinth_Guard yeah same I'm stuck in the Huron ghetto and I ain't got no way of getting out soon but the second I can get a way out I'm gone for good
Briggs. You sure love to stir the pot! I've only visited SD, but here's what i found: people are down-to-earth and helpful, my time spent at Mt Rushmore was a nearly religious experience as i listened to the wind whispering through the pines (there are private areas to the side of the main viewing area and they are rarely crowded), and reflected on the work and workmanship of this great monument; and the drive thru Custer State Park, with the quaking aspens around every bend! And being up close and personal with enormous buffalo! Living in a state with such a big sky takes a special temperament. So, cheers to the South Dakotans! The perfect state is the one you're happy in.
Actually western SoDak is pretty cool. Rushmore is awesome, and the camping and outdoor activities are great as well. Lots to see and do on a motorcycle, many fun rides. Winters can be harsh, but no place is perfect.
You have to be a little more man or a little more woman to live there it’s not for the weak or the faint of heart so city slickers stay home where you can get your Starbucks and Macy’s
We don’t just sit around a drink and drive we actually enjoy our landscape of the black hills and there is a lot more things you can do in the hills other than seeing Mount Rushmore
I lived in SD and it was awesome There are plenty things to do And MT Rushmore is not easy to loose focus on I love SD it is a wonderful state you don’t know what your talking about
I live in South Dakota and I will give you the #1 reason to live in this awesome state. We don't have that many Democrats. There you go, you're welcome.
Single and loving it. That’s awesome, no hate from me here, my point was just that as Democrats are in the minority we can still remain free, unlike Communist California a and New York. The Democrat run cities are proof of how disastrous their ideals are. Be well!
I'm here after watching your governor shill her hair extensions off for Trump and his claims of voter fraud and widespread Democrat corruption. I cannot imagine being a Democrat here, it would be game over lol
@@Ytremz Luckily Sioux Falls is more progressive than the rest of the state. I had the unfortunate reality of living rural Indiana for 6 years prior. So I've lived with Pence being our Governor.
I’ve never heard of east vs west at all, it must have to be something to do with the river cities. I’ve stayed in rapid, Sioux Falls, brookings, water town and sisseton and not once have I heard of it.
Christina Cathryn That's because a lot us here in sd are in our own little world, thinking South Dakota is on the map, but it's really not. Travel to a big city and the people say that they're surprised to know people actually live in sd, horses not cars... The only way you can start a business here is if you have money or you're willing to risk losing a lot of money. If you spent 40-60 grand on an education and really think an investor or bank will help a 20 something year old get started your wrong. A lot of people that own businesses here had money to start with or they're barely getting by. After age 25 you will snap back to reality and realize you need to move or entrepreneurship is just not for you. Maybe things will change in about 15-20 years.
I was last week in South Dakota , loved it, no traffic, loved the plains, I stayed in Mitchell and went to a rodeo, murdo 1880 old town, badlands , wall drug, rapid city, mount Rushmore . Coming back next year.
"Cow tipping and being a hermit" I died at this part! This had a lot of stereotypes in it. I live in small town South Dakota and I can assure you that Sioux Falls is nothing like the boredom that was described. Still hilarious though!!!!!!
Don't forget the movie "Son In Law". That probably were some of the stereotypes come. The cow tipping is what we tell kids or friends to see if they will try to do it.
Don't forget the movie "Son In Law". That probably where some of the stereotypes come from. The cow tipping is what we tell kids or friends to see if they will try to do it.
Ryan Kennedy I'm probably going to be one of those tourists later this year. Just thought I'd ask (since you apparently live there) other than MT Rushmore any touristy things that you could think of? I'd appreciate any suggestions. Don't worry I'll definitely leave when I'm done there. 😀
+Brian Brewer Not sure if you have gone on your trip/what you are going to have time for, but Sioux Falls has Falls Park. Not much history, but you can go on the rocks and get close to the falls (just don't fall in because you'll probably die and end up as one of the people that makes the news for dying there each month). Mitchell has the Corn Palace (though it's just Dakota Wesleyan University's basketball/volleyball gym, but covered in corn). There are some great golf courses in the state if you are into golfing and we are very saturated with them, so you shouldn't get held up at all. We have some sports teams like the Rapid City Rush (ECHL team), Sioux Falls Canaries (Independent Pro Baseball Team), Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL team), Sioux Falls Skyforce (NBA G-League team), and Sioux Falls Storm (IFL team) if you are into sports. There's Wild Water West just west of Sioux Falls (right down 41st St.), Watiki Waterpark in Rapid City connected to a hotel, and a bunch of other municipal waterparks/pools. There's a GolfAddiction which is a simulator/restaurant place, and a place called GreatShots will be opening in 2019 which is similar to TopGolf, both of which are in Sioux Falls. There are some dams along the Missouri River that you can get a tour of (the Gavin's Point Dam in Yankton being the most interesting because you get a full tour of the powerhouse and get to go inside one of the turbines and see it spinning. That's what I can think of, but you have to kinda be interested in sports to do a lot of that stuff (mostly because I'm an avid sports fan/golfer). Hope you have/had fun and enjoy(ed) your stay!
South Dakotan here. You're spot on about number 1. The lack of population contributes to some of the problems. We don't have a state income tax because the gambling revenue covers it, for example.
@@TheHillbillyHybrid start any business you want. The lawmakers are soo corrupt, anything goes except pain reief. Thats apparently immoral. Lol you are legally able to put a huge casino next to a school tho!
There wasn't a state income tax before the gambling, and the sales tax was 4%. They didn't waste money on pointless road signs, or blow it on nary-do-wells needing subsidies. Ask yourself why gambling is now needed? I can tell you that where there's gambling, there's Mafia.
Great state for people with values .Like Patriotism for their own country .And any group in NYC that does a survey about anybody else is ridiculous .One of the worst cities in America (NYC ) doing surveys on other states .What a joke !
Patriotism, hard work, personal responsibility, God-fearing, outdoors, hospitality, 2nd Amendment, and respect for family and authority...all things that leftists hate. Its why my wife and I moved there, not a lot of commie leftists there😊😊
I born raised in western South Dakota. After nursing school I moved to AZ for 30 years. I wanted to move back and finally was able to do so. I love the Black Hills, streams, lakes, fishing, winter is cold but very tolerable. I truly am glad so many people have negative ideas about SD. Our population in this state is around 880.000 statewide. I love the freedom this allows. So happy you don’t want to move here. Please don’t come.
1. East v West - yes we do that 2. Math - we hate math and our math teachers are bad. My 9th grade algebra teacher gave us worksheets then played poker on his computer 3. Rushmore - cool the first time 4. Driving - problem isn’t age the problem is drugs and texting while driving 5. We do get things done :) 6. Lots of casinos - lots more people who don’t want them there 7. Depends on what you like to do. Sioux Falls is wonderful 8. I saw a prisoner walking away from the prison the other day 9. Craigslist - yeah that’s pretty much it 10. Vacant - that’s fine because we have fewer lunatics. If you want people live in rapid city or Sioux Falls
steve b poor as in education or wealth? South Dakotans have a reasonable lifestyle. If you are talking about wealth, we simply don’t need as much to have the same quality of life others do like say on the coasts. Things don’t cost that much here.
@@merlynschutterle7242 you must have been on pine ridge or something, not all reservations are full of drunk natives living off casino money. Besides our reservations are on the borders of other states. Of course the visitors are also gonna make up a large percentage of gambling and reckless driving.
You forgot the excellent hunting, fishing and camping opportunities this state offers. There are lots of things to do outdoors. Even skiing in those cold winters.
Personally I love the state, even though I am just a visitor. Have been thru there 8 times the last 6 years. Boring? Nope. It is a great place to explore, wander, and photograph.
@@fbeegle I don't know how you could go wrong living in Pierre. Nice little city, good restaurants, lovely walking trails; Fort Pierre one can go to cattle auctions; some wide open country; beautiful lake; city modern and there has to be some spots where one could get out of the winter blasts. :o) I rather like Chamberlain as well; but I do not like modern sprawling places like Sioux Falls.
Captn Stinger, I have to add something. I was driving Route 34 toward Madison from I-29 when I blew a tire. This was I think 2014. I got out of the car and opened the trunk to check for my spare. Within 30 seconds a young girl, maybe 25, dressed to the 9's, stopped and asked if she could help me. I couldn't believe it. I had no cell phone and also am hearing impaired. She not only looked after everything for me and had the AAA service truck coming, she apologized profusely for not being able to stay until the truck arrived as she had to meet her Mom for something. I am SO upset with myself I never got her name. When I got back to Ontario I wrote a letter to the Madison newspaper in hopes that they would print it just to tell her how grateful I really was. It was late in the day and I was on my way back to Huron where I had a room. I don't know if they printed my letter and if they did, whether she saw it, but she would know, it is not every day someone from Ontario Canada blows a tire along Route 34. :o) Bless her!!
I live in South Dakota (East River). The WINTER is the ONLY downside! We have only TWO seasons; summer and DRINKING season (the gambling is a result of the drinking). The People are friendly and welcoming to others who move here. It is VERY easy to start a business and if you WANT to work, there are ALWAYS JOBS! There are places in South Dakota that will give you land if you move there. Check out the "freedom index" (I think it is put out by the CATO folks), South Dakota is always in the TOP THREE. You are right about one thing; DON'T GO TO PRISON in South Dakota! Do your dope elsewhere, because if you are caught, they will throw the book at you.
Dayyyymn! You had to really reach to find 10 reasons not to move to South Dakota. "Craigslist is bad." Seriously? If you've seen a picture of Mt Rushmore, don't bother seeing it in person. WTF? Couldn't you say this about anything? I haven't seen the Eiffel Tower, the Great Wall of China, and Rio De Janeiro but I've seen pictures so what's the point in going? As I'm watching your 10 reasons I'm thinking the next reason will be something like: "South Dakota has less butterflies per capita than 37 other states! DON'T MOVE THERE!" Not one of your better lists.
GrnXnham I know right. I grew up there, I still consider it home. I still have family there. I travel there to visit, hunt and fish. It's a great state.
Mulanda Rajabu whats funny is that the town I live in was dubbed the most dangerous town in South Dakota in a study taken in like 2015. And it was only because of a string of break ins acured
Been there when I was a kid . Still have the Mt Rushmore Pdts Souvenir Medal. Have a very different point of view because I'm very respectful of the Lakotas . Very heart touched and suffering because of the pipeline on a sacred land. Peace 🙏🕊
First off, I find it kind of offending you saying this. Sure, yeah it’s your opinion but South Dakota is BEAUTIFUL the sunsets every night at our house is beautiful
Honestly South Dakota was beyond beautiful, driving through the Black Hills blew my mind. If there was better opportunities for work I might consider moving there.
The black hills takes up only 5% of the state 😆. Some facts are pointed out though. Like we have way too many drunk people and our government is corrupt AF. South Dakota is filled with bitter angry farmers who keep destroying the land and keep on buying bigger and fancier tractors. There's alot of bitter assholes and elitists taking advantage of people in this state. Also one of the worst states for human trafficking. I've lived here 30 years don't even attempt to tell me I'm lying.
I have lived in South Dakota my whole life. I Love It, I was born and raised in Mitchell and I now live in Sturgis. This Guy has no clue how great this state is, I can jump on my four wheeler and be up in the Hills on trail 171.1 in five minutes. The beauty of South Dakota is the people who live here, it is not split East /West we back each other in every thing we do. GOD BLESS SOUTH DAKOTA
Some people live in Africa and think it's a great continent and also find it very offensive and rude. Bruh, I live here too, but if you actually look at the content that this guy makes, you will find that he criticizes multiple different states as well. Shit, did you even stay until the end of the video?
I have been to all 50 States. I have watched about 20 of your videos. Most are pretty accurate. The last four years we have spent a few weeks in S Dakota in our motorhome. The first time I went to Mt Rushmore about 3 years ago and saw the actual place instead of in photos or video was a rush. A bit like, but not as much as, the first time I saw the Grand Canyon. Mt Rushmore is an icon of the USA and do not think you give it enough credit. The area around Mt Rushmore has more AAA tour book "gem" points that any other location in the United States. We have spent two weeks in this area the last few years and have been to maybe half the AAA "gem" spots. Do not underestimate it for fun stuff to do for all ages until you have spend some time there. We also stayed in Sioux Falls for four days last summer. A very nice medium sized city with a lively art district and good restaurants. We like South Dakota. We don't plan to move there but we like visiting quite a bit.
This is all a lie! Maybe if he knew more about it and lived here it would be different. I think this is disrespectful to South Dakota and everyone in it.
I LOVE South Dakota it’s not boring it fells like u a free form school forever and there is a lot of nice people they say safe travel good luck there, I’ve been there my whole life
Wow I live in South Dakota and these are all not true so yea... I live there my whole life so south Dakota is not bad it's an amazing place and very place
I REALLY feel sorry for you hicks. I have been to South Dakota and the only thing mildly interesting was Mount Rushmore. I'm sure it's great if you're a white supremacist, Christian fundamentalist, survivalist, dirt farmer, biker, or into incest. But, in my opinion there should only be one Dakota, two is just too many. Lol
@@Zazz_Blammymatazz Don't forget! Mount Rushmore was built on land that the government agreed the Natives owned without permission! Now the government has a huge sum of money waiting for them but all they want is the land back.
I live in SD but I knew most of this also here’s a fact we have the biggest and one of the last k marts in the Country Also yes we have a lot of live stock we also have a low population is because we have so much natural stuff that we respect so we don’t ruin it with buildings and houses
I am from the mid west. nebraska / kansas... I live in utah these days. I LOVE SOUTH DAKOTA! DUDE i been to new york and los Angeles and i gotta tell ya... aside from detroit and cleveland they are the biggest crap holes i have ever seen and i have been to mexico... s. Dak is ok with me
Oh! And as Timothy Burchette pointed out. The guy didn't mention South Dakota has no state income tax!👍And the Craig's list I loved! Sounds like people in the old days when people were more honest!❤️
I live in SD, and it is always very quiet and pretty. On the other hand, I have also lived in NY, and it was super crazy 24/7. Have you even seen the pretty frost we get On our trees!?!?
We just arrived in Rapid City and were looking for local info when we came across this. The craigslist idea is a great one. Thanks for that and another great video. Btw. The wild buffaloes crossing the road in front of us was one of the best experiences on this road trip.
THE WEATHER IS THE WORST! Bipolar! It’s either 100 degrees or -4 and it effects the roads! It’s either blizzards or construction season! So many pot holes! Your car have sooo much wear from hail and the salt on the roads. Extreme weather should be #1.
Deja Okuuur you on the rez? I90 don't have potholes, shit even rapid is pretty pothole free. Sturgis it's littered with them, which is strange because the bikers and all. Soooo not safe to ride a bike here.
South Dakota is awesome! Made a trip over a holiday weekend to Deadwood and visited so many places and was super cheap! Very scenic and rich with American history! Did a little panning for gold, hit up a couple wineries, visited the black hills, and went to Mt Rushmore and crazy horse. We took the back roads south and around to Mt Rushmore from crazy horse and had to stop a few times to site see. I've never seen bodies of water so clear that you can see the schools of fish. The casinos in Deadwood are a great value for people who don't gamble much. $1 blackjack was great but no craps tables in whole state. I live an hour south of Chicago, so the trip cost me about $250 for gas round trip (2013 gas prices) and under $200 for food and things to do. Also won $140 gambling. Very scenic, people were really nice, get a feel of the wild west, and very inexpensive.
Just want to point out one reason South Dakota may have such bad teen drive statistics might also be the fact that they are allowed to drive at the age of 14, so they have more time to cause accidents.
But you forgot the Crazy Horse Memorial that will be completed when? Ok, you showed a drone shot! I met some very friendly babes in South Dakota so I'll never complain about the state.
I just became a South Dakota resident and couldn't be happier. People are down to earth, super friendly, hard working and honest. No state income taxes and a low cost of living. And best of all no BLM mobs and liberal mayors destroying your quality of life.
I'm retired and would like to get out of this s*** hole New Jersey. I would consider South Dakota but I don't think I could endure the winters after working for the highway department for 27 years plowing snow in this pathetic expensive corrupt state!
@@bartrobinson2103 You can also go to Nevada. The Vegas area is nice and no state taxes. Plus warm winters, albeit with some brutal July and August temps in the summer. I'm traveling around now in a van and trying out different states. No need to stay in the liberal s-holes anymore. Everyone is starting to vote with their feet. I know i did when I left Maryland earlier this year. Maryland used to be a center right moderate state politically. But the communists have taken over just like they did in so many other states. Even though it was my home and I grew up there, I have no intention of ever going back. Maybe all this BLM riot stuff, destruction of inner cities and the mass migration away from liberal areas will break the back of the democrat party and we may get some of our states back eventually? Who knows, but life is short and I'm not holding my breath for it any longer. Good luck...
I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB In Rapid City 1961-65,great people, beautiful scenery, good hinting & fishing. The only thing i did not like was the bad treatment of the Native Americans,Pine Ridge reservation was a slum.I hope it gets better for them.
No, give those people a reason for hope and a hand up. Our government put them there and screwed them completely and if we aren't careful, the government will screw and subjugate the rest of us as well.
Pedro Rodriguez. I lived in South Dakota for my military job for about a year. USA really needs assistance with getting past racism issues. Especially in South Dakota. And I honestly never knew Natives were treated worse than black people.
I love south Dakota I’ve lived here all my life and never got tired of it.also there is fun things to do here you can ride horse,go hiking,go camping. Also how do you now all those things you don’t live here.
Actually South Dakota (West river) is a nice place to live, with the mountains it’s hard for tornadoes to form, so you never have to worry. And it’s very pretty. In rapid city half the city is mountains so you can hike in town, drive an hour and hit a lake, etc. you didn’t mention there are also a lot MORE teen drivers in general because you can get your license at 14. Another con that was missed is there is a meth epidemic. They keep to themselves though lol.
I'm from New Zealand and I've visted South Dakota twice. One of my favorite places. Beautiful landscapes. Sure it's isolated but that's what makes it special.
Did you notice the huge time diffrence.

@@johnperic6860 The education system is awful. Out of all states we ranked 51st when it comes to paying teachers. When we gave them a pay raise to make it look better it dropped back down the next year.
Tia Shott have you ever lived anywhere else
His number 1 reason honestly would convince me to move there, he basically said you can live peacefully and then shows beautiful landscapes while he is trying to convince us that more people is supposed to be a good thing
when it comes to people, less is better imo
@@GalaxE10 absolutely
Looking at the hell in a ham basket the other states are in with illegals flooding in, I thank God no one wants to move here.

This guy has no clue
No state income taxes, low taxes, no biannual vehicle smog checks or inspections, no recycling redemption, no excessive taxes on water, power, gas, cell phone, or cable bills, etc. Pretty much less illegal aliens and liberals than the blue states. This makes South Dakota worth living in.
Jman
Aren't Californians making a dash for South Dakota?

South Dakota is ranked very high for entrepreneurs into business

Not sure if you have gone on your trip/what you are going to have time for, but Sioux Falls has Falls Park.

I am SO upset with myself I never got her name. When I got back to Ontario I wrote a letter to the Madison newspaper in hopes that they would print it just to tell her how grateful I really was. It was late in the day and I was on my way back to Huron where I had a room. I don't know if they printed my letter and if they did, whether she saw
it, but she would know, it is not every day someone from Ontario Canada blows a tire along Route 34. :o) Bless her!!
@@arnoldmooney8143 okay ... thanks man, I appreciate your feedback. I've heard good things about Sioux Falls but now I will also be looking at Pierre!
@@arnoldmooney8143 so good people running around as well! Awesome. Thanks a lot for being as thorough as you've been in your reply! I appreciate it
I live in South Dakota (East River).
I agree. I live in SD
I'm currently living here. And you're right, and I find SD Craigslist pretty good
Its actually awesome, no violences going on like other states have, and I know sd is not that low on education as that guy said
Mulanda Rajabu whats funny is that the town I live in was dubbed the most dangerous town in South Dakota in a study taken in like 2015. And it was only because of a string of break ins acured
Mulanda Rajabu lol about the crimes..... It's called Sturgis in August XD
And for the low on education thats not exactly true
I moved to SD last year. Its people are awesome so friendly. Yup the weather seems crazy there but other things?! Awesome.
Been there when I was a kid . Still have the Mt Rushmore Pdts Souvenir Medal.
Have a very different point of view because I'm very respectful of the Lakotas . Very heart touched and suffering because of the pipeline on a sacred land. Peace 🙏🕊
Pipelines hurt noone, and people like to drive. Even the Indians drive to get beer.
First off, I find it kind of offending you saying this. Sure, yeah it’s your opinion but South Dakota is BEAUTIFUL the sunsets every night at our house is beautiful
Omg yessss especially in the Onida area
South Dakota!!!!! I love this place.
South Dakota is amazing I lived in it my whole live it is so amazing
It probably does, but how do you know it's amazing if that's all you know ✌️
which part BMX? Would love to hear some details
Some people actually live in South Dakota and think it is a really good state and also find it very offensive and rude
Snowflake
Has this guy ever been to South Dakota?! I went last year and can't wait to go again!
I LOVE South Dakota it’s not boring it fells like u a free form school forever and there is a lot of nice people they say safe travel good luck there, I’ve been there my whole life
Wow I live in South Dakota and these are all not true so yea... I live there my whole life so south Dakota is not bad it's an amazing place and very place
ana 2019 same
Love did not a big place but I live in Watertown SD codington county we all now each other so we trust each other
I REALLY feel sorry for you hicks.
@@KatToTheFourth I would love to see Native Americans knock down those faces on Mt Rushmore.
I live in SD but I knew most of this also here’s a fact we have the biggest and one of the last k marts in the Country
Also yes we have a lot of live stock we also have a low population is because we have so much natural stuff that we respect so we don’t ruin it with buildings and houses
I am from the mid west. nebraska / kansas...
I live in utah these days. I LOVE SOUTH DAKOTA! DUDE i been to new york and los Angeles and i gotta tell ya... aside from detroit and cleveland they are the biggest crap holes i have ever seen and i have been to mexico... s. Dak is ok with me
So beautiful, the scenery is gorgeous and so peaceful! Perfect day for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. TFS, beautiful video! Merri :)
Oh! And as Timothy Burchette pointed out. The guy didn't mention South Dakota has no state income tax!👍And the Craig's list I loved! Sounds like people in the old days when people were more honest!❤️
i live in south dakota and it’s a great placr
Same here i lived in south dakota and im from rapid city just moved here
I live in SD, and it is always very quiet and pretty. On the other hand, I have also lived in NY, and it was super crazy 24/7. Have you even seen the pretty frost we get On our trees!?!?
People want to escape from New York because it's crazy. The only ones who stay are the nuts causing all the craziness.
We just arrived in Rapid City and were looking for local info when we came across this. The craigslist idea is a great one. Thanks for that and another great video. Btw. The wild buffaloes crossing the road in front of us was one of the best experiences on this road trip.
I actually live in South Dakota. I may not like the cold weather but there are beauty and history around South Dakota that are interesting
I do love South Dakota wants to go back again that my dream.
3:36 go hiking and enjoy the landscape
THE WEATHER IS THE WORST! Bipolar! It’s either 100 degrees or -4 and it effects the roads! It’s either blizzards or construction season! So many pot holes! Your car have sooo much wear from hail and the salt on the roads. Extreme weather should be #1.
Deja Okuuur you on the rez? I90 don't have potholes, shit even rapid is pretty pothole free. Sturgis it's littered with them, which is strange because the bikers and all. Soooo not safe to ride a bike here.
That's why you learn how to not ride into a pothole and to keep your eyes on the road as well as ahead of you 🙄
More like -20s and -30s
Hey Dad no I’m Sioux Falls lol
I’m in Sturgis and the streets have a lot of holes in them. I90 is just fine.
Why do you hate my state
Fnaftube brøs he’s to dull to find something to do love it here
Cody 6778 it's probably because he has never been there LMAO
Love south Dakota
Rayann Greger do you live in Mitchell like me?
Rayann Greger do you live in platt? Or maybe Brandon?
I just moved away from this state about a month ago i actully miss this place
You will grow to hate life in the Northeast if you have traditional values.
thanks briggs...sounds like i need to spread some of my baltimore culture around there...
@@drott150 .. thank you and same to you!
Great walleye fishing in South Dakota !
Uncle Wreckum and hunting
Uncle Wreckum pheasant hunting between Chamberlain and Woonsocket
Uncle Wreckum Also great pheasant hunting.
Amen
sounds like east river propaganda
I was stationed at Ellsworth AFB In Rapid City 1961-65,great people, beautiful scenery, good hinting & fishing. The only thing i did not like was the bad treatment of the Native Americans,Pine Ridge reservation was a slum.I hope it gets better for them.
Unfortunately, the Pine Ridge and Rosebud Reservations are still slums.
The only way it gets better is if they bull doze it and move white people in
No, give those people a reason for hope and a hand up. Our government put them there and screwed them completely and if we aren't careful, the government will screw and subjugate the rest of us as well.
The sad state of Indian reservations is the fault of the federal government.
Pedro Rodriguez. I lived in South Dakota for my military job for about a year. USA really needs assistance with getting past racism issues. Especially in South Dakota. And I honestly never knew Natives were treated worse than black people.
Heading to the badlands for a week this summer. Hopefully it's a nice place to visit.
Badlands are one of my favorite places to relax, while you're there visit Pine Ridge and Wounded Knee.
trust me it’s great
No reason to visit pine ridge at all. They don't want you there and it's not that safe.
I love south Dakota I’ve lived here all my life and never got tired of it.also there is fun things to do here you can ride horse,go hiking,go camping. Also how do you now all those things you don’t live here.
Have moved out of South Dakota three times and was happy to return all three, it is home and is a great place to live.
If it's so great whyd you move out of there not once, twice, but three times?
The best thing about SD is Gov. Kristi Noem
I like the picture of that thing at falls park in the “prison” portion
Great stats, thanx for the good advice!
Im moving to SD. in October can't wait. Lived there 50 yr. ago and WOW what a change.
