I thought it was worth giving it a whirl and see what happens. The ability to convert to DInput8 might help in a few other games as well.

Nice. JSF works fine for me on Windows 10 in software mode, but if I increase the resolution it's prone to crash during mission. Will have to test it out.

Will have to document what I've found so far, but some early promising results. Getting the HOTAS to work took a bit of faffing around with control schemes and the buttons don't work but mapping software would probably help that out. Throttle and stick axes were fine!👍

Ok so the joystick is sorted, I had 3dfx enabled so turning it off isn't enough, the game has to start with 3dfx disabled, so turn it off, quit and restart and if the 3dfx is disabled, joystick should work straight-away. Buttons still not mapped and getting to button 36 in the remapping options will cause a freeze.
IMHO after some dogfighting the handle exception option in DxWrapper means the game will hit a dx exception and continue there will be artifacts around the screen but it won't just CTD. The higher the resolution the less time it takes to hit an exception. So at 1920x1200 you can dogfight for a few mins before a freeze and screen artifacts everywhere. Lower the resolution the longer everything will be fine. But there are still a lot of options to test, so DxWrapper is worth it just to prevent CTD after a tricky mission and the game crashes 30 seconds from landing!

Can you share which files you used from dxwrapper and which settings in the. ini?

Yup, when I have a chance I'll add something to the website. And I need to get the control scheme process consistent. 👍

Short answer is ddraw.dll with the following ini settings enabled: Dinputto8, EnableDdrawWrapper, HandleExceptions, DdrawEmulateSurface, DdrawEmulateLock, FilterNonActiveInput

@@darkenedroom Thanks I will check as soon as I can myself. I am wondering if the dxwrapper would be the good solution for Longbow 2 and the rockets falling short. I am saying because it was sure in FA-18 in janes solving the automatic landing problem in native W10

@@Gabriele-bu7ri It's easy to set up and config DxWrapper and the engines may be similar enough so that the same settings that worked for FA-18 may work for Longbow 2.
