When you focus on only this world, you only get this world. Many people understand how hardship and hardworking pay off. We must make it through this world with Jesus as our guide and trust in Him to bring us to our actual home. If you focus on things and stuff and emotions of a sinful dying world, you will miss it. Start looking up instead of down. If i knew suffering for 80 years meant I could have eternal peace, I would do it. Fortunately, we don't do it alone. There is a supernatural peace and joy and hope that comes with accepting Him. It's indescribable and that's why people have such a hard time understanding a Christian's witness. They need to see the change in you, not just hear about it.
We all can say what we want about the “hiddenness of God” and quote men/women like Paul, yet the problem persists even to those who do make the “choice”. Why? Those whom we quote did not really experience His “hiddenness”.

When I was a baby Christian, I used to have similar questions, like why didn't God answer my prayer or did this or that when I was being so honest about asking...Quickly I realized, this is not the correct mental frame. God is the creator of the universe, He knit me in my mother's womb perfectly and our human bodies operate in a marvelous way. Who am I, mere flawed human, to question the God of the universe. It does take humility and trust in God, once I adopted this mindset all the sudden, I was able to see the answers to these questions and many times the answer was: Because His plan is way bigger, more powerful and beautiful than our wildest dreams.

Most of the Christian’s like Luke here feels the same when in difficult not finding God. That must be our weakness in faith. The trust, faith and belief is the healer that gives comforts when you are difficulty. If you keep calling God when you need, you will not see his presence. It comes gradual through prayers not spontaneous as you expect. Difficult? Think Jesus had all the power to avoid cross but he left it to God the Father and went through the terrible pain and humiliation. Are we better ?
My theory about the hiddenness of God is that he wants to leave us up to our own devices. If God just appeared in the sky with all the angels and everything, everyone would behave. But when a person thinks that no one is watching, the true person comes out. Then a person is truly tested. I think God wants human beings to choose righteousness of their own free will. This is the perfect way to do it. A world with good and evil and consequences and choices. And this rumour that there's a God. And a better way to live choosing good over evil. At the end of the test, if people come out choosing good of their own free will, then God has truly created people in his own image.

I think Jesus answers to why it isn't clear to "sincere nonbelievers", in Matthew ch13 and during the Parable of the Sower and His dialogue with the disciples, when HE said to them: "To YOU it has been given to understand the things of the Kingdom. But to THOSE who do not believe, He speaks,to them in parables... "So that hearing they will not hear and and seeing they will not see." Now, if we read the verses regarding that dialogue, and think very carefully what Jesus is saying there, then that person's question is answered plainly in Scripture

Gods Hiddenness is known by reading the book of Job and by Jesus the son of god nailed on the cross. My God why have you forsaken me? My thought on this young man? You can call it rude, but basically that is what it comes down to: he feels like God has somehow let him down because his needs, desires, wants were never met. He wants God to do something special for him, and he says he will believe then. Ah ah.... nope, he won't become a believer (although I know God can do anything) he will just want more. He needs something tangible from God before he can believe??? That is not what faith is about. He needs to change from the inside or he will always be wanting more... whatever he can come up with.

It seems to me that if Jesus was here today he would marvel at how Christianity preaches about God. The emphasis by the disciples was on the nature of God. But today we hear about the body of God. And the man "Jesus" is assumed to be that body in the past. John tells us that "no man has seen God at any time". John 1:18 and 1 John 4:12 John saw Jesus for 3 years. But, according to his own book, he had not seen God. Is the definition of "God" the problem? People ought to take a greater interest in "the 7 Spirits of God". Revelation 1:4. Then, I think, people would not only believe in, but seek God. One of those Spirits is love. God is love says 1 John 4:8,16. Jesus had the Spirit of love. He prayed for it to be in people. John 17:26. He even loved and forgave his enemies (on the cross). Can we do that? There would be less blood shed over time if we did. Paul says there is one God, above all, thru all, in you all. Ephesians 4:6. That means that "love" is in us all. But some have trouble expressing it. Isn't it the responsibility of the Christian to help others express that "love that is God" by helping them overcome their warlike tendencies? The other 6 Spirits are in us all too. Jesus had the full complement of the 7 Spirits. To follow him is to gain an understanding of the 7 Spirits. And to live them in our life. Philippians 2:13. A book that can help us do that is: "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures".

Spend time reading Romans and some of pauls letters. He makes understanding and following Jesus so much easier, because he breaks down all these issues and ideas. It's just such good reading!! Some of my favourite books ever!!

Matthew 4:7" Do not put the Lord your God to the test" People who ask God to "reveal" himself in order for them to be saved have NO faith and more than likely never decided to read the Bible in its entirety. It's a very prideful and vain thing to do to ask the holy God that he better give YOU a sign to so YOU can believe he is real. They sound just like the thief on the cross that was next to Jesus during the crucifixion! This is why I don't really believe Frank Turek is 100% saved , he rarely uses Bible verses and tends to use secular literature or atheist commentary as examples which is fine in some cases but definitely not for this one. This would have been a perfect time to use God's word which is sharper than any two edged sword which will either cause a pruning or a mortal wound depending on the person's integrity and whether or not they have the virtue of prudence. Frank says things that aren't always Bible based like Hell being eternal or heaven being accessible right after death... GOD has ALREADY given humanity PLENTY of signs for His existence!! Becoming a Calvinist or most call Reformed, I studied Scripture to find God did it all. He chose His sheep before the foundation of the world. Jesus died for His sheep, not the whole world. Holy Spirit changes the stone heart to flesh so the Gospel is revealed to God’s Chosen One’s. YOU don’t accept Jesus because He chooses you. Scripture tells us, no man seeks God. Sinners are dead in sin so they can’t respond, they’re dead. Holy Spirit does the change to your heart to hear the Word and believe, cause God does it all. Why? Because God is Sovereign, Almighty. He is in complete control of ALL things.
This stands against the scripture though... you're claiming predestination here... and that's not what Jesus claims. Jesus did not die only for His sheep, He died for the WHOLE WORLD so that anyone who would follow Him would be saved. His sheep will know His voice, because we choose to make God the king of our hearts. Jesus did not just die for his sheep, but for His sheep he will never let them go. Rabbit white, there are 3 wills of God if you study scripture. Romans 8:30 states God predestines, calls, justifies and glorifies some. If you aren't predestined and called your not justified. John 6 talks about all that the father give to Jesus will come. I found Christ alone in a room nowhere near a church, bible or Christians. I can say with 100% confidence that if God didn't open my spiritual eyes to the truth of who He was and what He did for me, I would of never come. I actually don't believe it was possible to say no.
I hate to be the negative voice...... But the Bible clearly states that the way is narrow and few will find it. There are people who are going to reject Jesus and end up in hell no matter what they're told or shown. I even suspect that if God knows you are one of those then he might not even bother wasting your time showing you anything. But of course we can't know which is which so it's best to try and help all of them.

There are well over 200 predictions stated in the bible, predictions that can be proven were made hundreds of years before the results were observed. The odds of getting even a hand full of those predictions correct by a natural process is astronomical, well beyond statistical odds. Now unless you can give a natural explanation of how those predictions were made, then those predictions themselves are the best evidence of the existence of something extra- natural...AKA: God, the God who claims to be the author of those predictions presented in the bible. Tell me how can anyone know D0 "The number of the daughter isotopes in the original composition", when the origin of the original composition supposedly took place millions or even billions of years before there was anybody around to confirm this assumption? I must also point out that the D0 in this equation is not a product of the equation but a requirement of the equation. Without it, it won’t work. When testing modern rocks; rocks whose formation was observed, the daughter isotope percentages at formation vary wildly and are in fact never zero. The level of mother to daughter isotopes very because the time it takes to solidify varies. The longer it takes the more of the present daughter isotope can leak out. If it does not all boil out before solidification or it they boil out at different rates it can drastically affecting the results of the tests. If the daughter isotope levels at rock formation in modern observed samples vary then one must accept that rocks from the past acted in like manner. Making the assumption that there are no daughter isotopes at formation for older samples when this is clearly not supported by modern samples is disingenuous at best and an outright lie at worst. If the starting ratios are not known then there is no math that can find the date. The dates used and accepted by supporters of evolution are in fact nothing but guesses based off of unproven assumptions. If two trains on parallel tracks were observed traveling in the same direction. One traveling faster and is 3 miles farther down the track then the other one. One could use simple math to calculate backwards to find at what point the two trains would be next to each other, sitting side by side on the parallel tracks. You could even find how long the trip took from the point that they were next to each other to where they are observed now. But none of the math would give you the starting point of either of the two trains. Assuming that they started in the same place and at the same time together cannot be confirmed. Yes one could look how far back the tracks go and calculate the maximum time they could have been traveling. But that would be the maximum possible time, not the time they actually started. In fact, in every case when the trains starting position was observed, they never started together. Such is the case for observed solidifying igneous rock. If the solidifying rocks observed today have varying starting ratios for the isotopes then one must maintain that the rocks in the past would act exactly the same; Resulting in the same problem that was encountered with the trains in the above example. Without knowing the starting ratios of the parent and daughter isotopes at solicitation the math is useless. Thereby making the dates arrived at with this math irrelevant. Isochron methods use the same data from the equation above to make their plots and as such suffer from the same dilemma... *The goal of the isochronic method is to identify and eliminate samples with possible contamination in situ or during handling and does nothing to eliminate the mathematical errors inherent in math in first place.* All that has been achieved by Isochron methods is a plot made of even more errors. There is no mathematical way one can determine the level of a coefficient without knowing the starting values of the variables used. The only reliable constants in the equations used are the decay rate of the isotopes (see Appendices A. at the bottom of this paper) and the rate of the passage of time. Without the starting ratios of parent and daughter isotopes math cannot determine an accurate date. You can find the oldest and youngest possible date that a sample could be by plugging in starting ratios at both of the extremes. But the dates obtained would give such a wide spread as to be useless. In fact you can obtain just about any date by simply plugging in whatever starting ratios will give you the date you want. Assuming that the ratios are zero for older unknown samples when every modern sample shows this to be wrong is..... Self induced ignorance. The level of self dilution displayed by those promoting the accuracy of radio dating is absurd. Again the train analogy was about the time and the distance traveled. Running the trains backward at the speed observed can tell you at what point the trains would meet each other. Another words, sit side by side on the parallel tracks. But this does not tell you that this is where either of the trains started. Show me an equation that can give an accurate date from the results of an AMS without relying on the unverifiable parent and daughter isotopes at solidification. If you cannot then your belief in the dates it provides is called faith. All of (macro) evolutionary theory rests on the billions of years. If you cannot verify those billions of years then any construct built upon its findings are no more reliable then the AMS suspicious unproven data. Perhaps if one looked for evidence in some place other than the authorized scientific dogma, they might find the errors that that dogma chooses to ignore. Appendices A... Apparently researchers at Stanford and Cornell have shown that some radio isotope decay rates can be affected by magnetic fields and ray interaction... The results of this research add even more question to the accuracy of the standard radio dating equations. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- It was explained to me that the reason the lava domes in Mt. Saint Helens date very old despite being very young is because the dating method tolerance is + or - several million years. So even if a sample is only 30 years old the dating method could still return millions of years. Even if the true date is 500 years old that would still be outside of the dating tolerances. In fact even 10,000 year old rocks would be way outside the dating tolerances and return millions of years in error. But wait..... What if all of the rocks on the entire earth were all younger than 10,000 years old? If that was the case then would not all of the rocks suffer the same error when subjected to the same testing method? How could one possibly know that the rocks whose dates are unknown from historical records are in fact any older than the rocks of known dates? Because of the dating methods massive wide open tolerances all rocks could in fact be less than 10,000 years old and still return dates of millions of years. The dating methods and those who interpret its findings simply do not take this into account.

When I was a baby Christian, I used to have similar questions, like why didn't God answer my prayer or did this or that when I was being so honest about asking...Quickly I realized, this is not the correct mental frame. God is the creator of the universe, He knit me in my mother's womb perfectly and our human bodies operate in a marvelous way. Who am I, mere flawed human, to question the God of the universe. It does take humility and trust in God, once I adopted this mindset all the sudden, I was able to see the answers to these questions and many times the answer was: Because His plan is way bigger, more powerful and beautiful than our wildest dreams.

Most of the Christian’s like Luke here feels the same when in difficult not finding God. That must be our weakness in faith.
The trust, faith and belief is the healer that gives comforts when you are difficulty. If you keep calling God when you need, you will not see his presence. It comes gradual through prayers not spontaneous as you expect. Difficult? Think Jesus had all the power to avoid cross but he left it to God the Father and went through the terrible pain and humiliation. Are we better ?
My theory about the hiddenness of God is that he wants to leave us up to our own devices. If God just appeared in the sky with all the angels and everything, everyone would behave. But when a person thinks that no one is watching, the true person comes out. Then a person is truly tested.
I think God wants human beings to choose righteousness of their own free will. This is the perfect way to do it. A world with good and evil and consequences and choices. And this rumour that there's a God. And a better way to live choosing good over evil.
At the end of the test, if people come out choosing good of their own free will, then God has truly created people in his own image.

I think Jesus answers to why it isn't clear to "sincere nonbelievers", in Matthew ch13 and during the Parable of the Sower and His dialogue with the disciples, when HE said to them: "To YOU it has been given to understand the things of the Kingdom. But to THOSE who do not believe, He speaks,to them in parables... "So that hearing they will not hear and and seeing they will not see."
Now, if we read the verses regarding that dialogue, and think very carefully what Jesus is saying there, then that person's question is answered plainly in Scripture

Gods Hiddenness is known by reading the book of Job and by Jesus the son of god nailed on the cross. My God why have you forsaken me? Jesus took Gods Hiddenness so that we today can not be separated from God anymore. Even if it sees or feels like sometimes that God isn't there, the truth is he will never leave us nor forsake us. My thought on this young man? You can call it rude, but basically that is what it comes down to: he feels like God has somehow let him down because his needs, desires, wants were never met. He wants God to do something special for him, and he says he will believe then. Ah ah.... nope, he won't become a believer (although I know God can do anything) he will just want more. As Christians we believe that God has mercy on those who have not heard his word. Romans 2:13-15 states that we all have an idea of good and evil and Jesus knows what it is in our hearts. If someone does good, but has never heard of Jesus, they will be saved.

It seems to me that if Jesus was here today he would marvel at how Christianity preaches about God. The emphasis by the disciples was on the nature of God. But today we hear about the body of God. And the man "Jesus" is assumed to be that body in the past.

Our first command after salvation is to be baptized. People who ask God to "reveal" himself in order for them to be saved have NO faith and more than likely never decided to read the Bible in its entirety. It's a very prideful and vain thing to do to ask the holy God that he better give YOU a sign to so YOU can believe he is real. They sound just like the thief on the cross that was next to Jesus during the crucifixion!
This is why I don't really believe Frank Turek is 100% saved , he rarely uses Bible verses and tends to use secular literature or atheist commentary as examples which is fine in some cases but definitely not for this one. This would have been a perfect time to use God's word which is sharper than any two edged sword which will either cause a pruning or a mortal wound depending on the person's integrity and whether or not they have the virtue of prudence.

Rabbit white, there are 3 wills of God if you study scripture. Romans 8:30 states God predestines, calls, justifies and glorifies some. If you aren't predestined and called your not justified. Predictability is the strongest evidence in science... There are well over 200 predictions stated in the bible, predictions that can be proven were made hundreds of years before the results were observed. The odds of getting even a hand full of those predictions correct by a natural process is astronomical, well beyond statistical odds. Now unless you can give a natural explanation of how those predictions were made, then those predictions themselves are the best evidence of the existence of something extra- natural...AKA: God, the God who claims to be the author of those predictions presented in the bible.
The writers of those predictions profess that they got those predictions from the God of the bible. Now, one could question the honesty or integrity of those writers about where they got the predictions from. *BUT THAT WOULD STILL LEAVE YOU WITH THE ASTRONOMICAL PROBLEM OF HOW DID THEY GET ALL THOSE PREDICTIONS CORRECT IN THE FIRST PLACE?* Can you provide a demonstrable and reasonable naturalistic explanation for those correct predictions? If not, then the most reasonable explanations as to how and where those predictions came from would be the ones given by those that professed/wrote them.

N is number of atoms of the parent isotope in the sample at time t (the present), given by N(t) = Noe-λt,
λ is the decay constant of the parent isotope, equal to the inverse of the radioactive half-life of the parent isotope times the natural logarithm of 2.
Tell me how can anyone know D0 "The number of the daughter isotopes in the original composition", when the origin of the original composition supposedly took place millions or even billions of years before there was anybody around to confirm this assumption? I must also point out that the D0 in this equation is not a product of the equation but a requirement of the equation. Without it, it won’t work.
When testing modern rocks; rocks whose formation was observed, the daughter isotope percentages at formation vary wildly and are in fact never zero. The level of mother to daughter isotopes very because the time it takes to solidify varies. The longer it takes the more of the present daughter isotope can leak out. If it does not all boil out before solidification or it they boil out at different rates it can drastically affecting the results of the tests. If the daughter isotope levels at rock formation in modern observed samples vary then one must accept that rocks from the past acted in like manner. Making the assumption that there are no daughter isotopes at formation for older samples when this is clearly not supported by modern samples is disingenuous at best and an outright lie at worst. If the starting ratios are not known then there is no math that can find the date. The dates used and accepted by supporters of evolution are in fact nothing but guesses based off of unproven assumptions.
If two trains on parallel tracks were observed traveling in the same direction. One traveling faster and is 3 miles farther down the track then the other one. One could use simple math to calculate backwards to find at what point the two trains would be next to each other, sitting side by side on the parallel tracks. You could even find how long the trip took from the point that they were next to each other to where they are observed now. But none of the math would give you the starting point of either of the two trains. Assuming that they started in the same place and at the same time together cannot be confirmed. Yes one could look how far back the tracks go and calculate the maximum time they could have been traveling. But that would be the maximum possible time, not the time they actually started.
In fact, in every case when the trains starting position was observed, they never started together. Such is the case for observed solidifying igneous rock. If the solidifying rocks observed today have varying starting ratios for the isotopes then one must maintain that the rocks in the past would act exactly the same; Resulting in the same problem that was encountered with the trains in the above example. Without knowing the starting ratios of the parent and daughter isotopes at solicitation the math is useless. Thereby making the dates arrived at with this math irrelevant.
Isochron methods use the same data from the equation above to make their plots and as such suffer from the same dilemma... *The goal of the isochronic method is to identify and eliminate samples with possible contamination in situ or during handling and does nothing to eliminate the mathematical errors inherent in math in first place.* All that has been achieved by Isochron methods is a plot made of even more errors. There is no mathematical way one can determine the level of a coefficient without knowing the starting values of the variables used. The only reliable constants in the equations used are the decay rate of the isotopes (see Appendices A. at the bottom of this paper) and the rate of the passage of time. Without the starting ratios of parent and daughter isotopes math cannot determine an accurate date. You can find the oldest and youngest possible date that a sample could be by plugging in starting ratios at both of the extremes. But the dates obtained would give such a wide spread as to be useless. In fact you can obtain just about any date by simply plugging in whatever starting ratios will give you the date you want. Assuming that the ratios are zero for older unknown samples when every modern sample shows this to be wrong is..... Self induced ignorance. The level of self dilution displayed by those promoting the accuracy of radio dating is absurd.
Again the train analogy was about the time and the distance traveled. Running the trains backward at the speed observed can tell you at what point the trains would meet each other. Another words, sit side by side on the parallel tracks. But this does not tell you that this is where either of the trains started.
Show me an equation that can give an accurate date from the results of an AMS without relying on the unverifiable parent and daughter isotopes at solidification. If you cannot then your belief in the dates it provides is called faith.
All of (macro) evolutionary theory rests on the billions of years. If you cannot verify those billions of years then any construct built upon its findings are no more reliable then the AMS suspicious unproven data.
Perhaps if one looked for evidence in some place other than the authorized scientific dogma, they might find the errors that that dogma chooses to ignore.

Apparently researchers at Stanford and Cornell have shown that some radio isotope decay rates can be affected by magnetic fields and ray interaction... The results of this research add even more question to the accuracy of the standard radio dating equations.

It was explained to me that the reason the lava domes in Mt. Saint Helens date very old despite being very young is because the dating method tolerance is + or - several million years. So even if a sample is only 30 years old the dating method could still return millions of years. Even if the true date is 500 years old that would still be outside of the dating tolerances. In fact even 10,000 year old rocks would be way outside the dating tolerances and return millions of years in error.
But wait..... What if all of the rocks on the entire earth were all younger than 10,000 years old? If that was the case then would not all of the rocks suffer the same error when subjected to the same testing method? How could one possibly know that the rocks whose dates are unknown from historical records are in fact any older than the rocks of known dates?
Because of the dating methods massive wide open tolerances all rocks could in fact be less than 10,000 years old and still return dates of millions of years. The dating methods and those who interpret its findings simply do not take this into account.

It’s not a choice to many people. Lots of people in history and today never heard of christ and god, didn’t have a bible. Others had and have completely different books and circumstances. 80% of the world doesn’t believe in Christianity.
Why weren’t they given a choice?
I would add christianity is faith based which to me seems to imply you must first take the step to believe, then evidence becomes understandable

Most times god comes through pain but you have to build the relationship I'd say just keep praying. Belief is not a choice. What you except to be true is the result of what you are convinced of. And, you can be convinced of something for good or bad reasons.
The premise of your title is flawed. There is no such thing as a former Christian according to scripture.
It's also extremely important to avoid Calvinists churches who promote the false doctrine of dispensationalism so they never experienced God in this real life. At the right Church you will experience God in a very pronounced way

Because he's not real. Best answer. Everyone that claims they're talking to god is either pretending for attention, they've actually convinced themselves they're talking to him when what they're really talking to is their ego, or they have schizophrenia or something else which is really sad and they need help. My grandmother tells me she sees angels and Jesus all the time, yet she lays in bed all day in pain. Obviously they're not there and not helping her. She's just old and takes a bunch or drugs and her mind is going. She's obsessed with the subject so her mind plays tricks on her.

How could a loving god create such a terrible world? There is nothing that has been proven scientific fact that is contradicted in the Bible. Actually, the opposite is true. The more scientists discover, the more we see the truth of the Bible.

5) Paul, a Jewish antagonist, persecutor and unbeliever, similarly claims to have seen the risen Jesus, and is transformed into being willing to die.
6) The Gospel message of the death and resurrection of Jesus began to be taught very soon after the crucifixion and resurrection is said to have occurred. 'Very soon' being in the months following the claimed events leaving no time for development of myths.
What explanation do you have that explains all 6 of these historical facts?
