    What a lie. No one calls the police to complain about drug use at a rock concert. Just doesn’t happen

    • @edscmidt5193
      @edscmidt5193 2 года назад +6

      No it doesn’t and especially at phish. If you never did drugs and looked around at a phish show you’d think “hmmmm, the drugs these folks are doing aren’t bad and they seem to know how to handle it-good for them. Now to go back to minding my business and watching phish”

      Notice how there was no nitrous oxide busts. It's all a ploy by the Nitrous Mafia to get other drugs off the lot, so they can sell more balloons.

      Yup.
      Problems for “a whole month previously” but we’re going to lay the law down on phish when they come to town. But of course they “don’t target any particular band”. The newscast sure as hell did single them out pretty hard.

    When the drug war is finally won, they'll speak of the battle of walnut creek, many heroes fell that day, at night they'll say if you listen closely you can still hear the sounds of nitrous balloons deflating in the hands of the fallen.

      Excellent summation and reference. One should never have to adapt when the act of adaptation compromises one's core values. Mt. Shasta is one of my favorite places in the world, by the way. Haven't been there since 1999 on that Phish Fall Tour. Saw it from Redding in 2013, but that's not the same as doing the rope swing at Lake Siskiyou. I was 17 at the Mt. Thugs with badges and nothing more. Phish fans are a great bunch of people. I would know I have been part of that scene since the mid 90's. I went to my first show at the age of 16. It's been 25 years or so and other than the hiatus and 04-08 there has not been a year that has gone by without catching at least a couple shows. there were years in there when friends and I were at dozens. Many shows and many years later I am a successful business owner and family man. going to take my oldest daughter (10) to her first show this year. I only mention this because I could have been one of those young kids arrested by the cops for no other reason than having a good time. nothing like ruining a young persons life when there out to have a good time and new experience.

      Great - expose your 10 year old daughter to a bunch of people trippin', rollin', and the smell of weed smoke everywhere. This is exactly what is wrong with America. I love Phish as much as the next head but you may want to think that one through. Would you take her to a bar too?

      @@toridark325 There are plenty of junkies on tour. Summer and fall tour 2000 were particularly rough ones for a few friends and myself, having to stop in every city just to stay well, but we certainly did not use needles in the open. Nor did we ever leave anything behind. It was a private thing, and did not affect others or the scene in general, except for the fact that in and of itself it was a negative existence. Certainly not recommendable.

  • @heatherangel7703
    @heatherangel7703 2 года назад +6

    I was absolutely SHOCKED at what I saw as I was exiting the concert. I feel had I not been a lone female, I would have been targeted for nothing as well. I watched as dozens of fans were lined up with hands behind their heads as I passed by in my rental car. An officer stopped me as I was exiting the parking lot. I thought, "Here we go..." Instead he alerted me that my headlights were not on! I thanked the officer and let him know it was a rental I was not familiar with and was waved passed the other dozens of fans being arrested. I was at the birthday show in Vegas back in 2000 and even when hundreds of Phish-heads stormed the fountain outside of a popular casino (hate to say I started that fiasco, but I was 19), there was not this type of backlash. I was mortified at the amount of force. I thought a major crime had gone down. A shooting? A death? Not a bunch of potheads, mushroom eaters, and benign hippies. I felt it was waaaay out of line. But that's my opinion.

    I'm a local. It's not the "ungrateful locals" complaining. It's aggressive Alcohol Law Enforcement (ALE) of NC. They cruise the parking lots before the shows looking to bust anyone for anything, and have been doing it for years at every show. Raleigh police could care less about recreational drug use. Their main concern was maintaining control of 20,000 fans safely.

      This is true. Years ago, sometime during the 1.0 era, I brought a bunch of water and Gatorade to sell. Anyways, as soon as I parked the car and opened the back, coos were riding by on a golf cart and saw the water. They stopped amd.told me if.i sold any of it I'd be arrested

      I don't have stats for injuries or violent crimes. Anywhere there's a large crowd and alcohol is served there will be fights. The majority are minor some are not. There are medical emergencies, drunk drivers and theft etc. It happens and Raleigh PD do a good job keeping it safe for everyone.
