another excellent review - thank you. I can see this makin a lot of people happy in the UK when it inevitably reaches our shores. the current class divide / high barrier to entry is a really divise point for a lot of us.
Fully agree that the front & (lack of) rear wipers needs urgent fixing. On any British motorway in winter, so much crap gets thrown up by passing HGVs that you ABSOLUTELY need good wipers or the car will quickly become dangerous to drive. My little Suzuki Celerio, which has similar dimensions to the Seagull, has two front & one rear wiper so it can be done at a tiny add-on cost. And while we're talking visibility, don't forget to put some shading between the two sunvisors (ie where the rear view mirror is). At this time of year, the sun is really low in the sky & can blind you if you're pointing in the wrong direction. Other than that, if BYD bring the Seagull to the UK and don't, like so many EV suppliers, try to gouge the price, then I'm definitely going to get one.
What an excellent channel. I am impressed. I wonder why the RUclips algo doesn't promote you. Like I can literally search for BYD Seagull and yout video doesn't come up
BYD Seagull, make the rear view larger, add a heat pump to keep the battery operating optimally in cold weather, AWD option with Firestone WeatherGrip snow rated tires for US market (Alaska), one pedal driving with regenerative brakes, FOB key replaced with access from smartphone and or a credit card, battery charging under 15 minutes even in extreme cold climate, high entry for seniors ease of entry.

Thanks for an interesting review. The title of your review says "Dolphin" though for your video showing the Seagull. "My favorite EV...until I say otherwise" HA!
It would still be a hard fight in my country Malaysia. We have a Perodua MyVi here at $12k brand new which is the size of the Dolphin, uses toyota engine and transmission, has 6 airbag, adaptive cruise, lane keep assist, fully loaded with tech/features, 10seconds 0-100km/h, 200km/h top speed andit gets 49mpg (22km/l), our fuel price is around $0.44/liter. As a comparison the Dolphin in my country now sells at $21k base
Yeah, were still far from comparing an EV to an ICE car. But unlike others, the Seagull merely loses in this comparison, rather than being utterly destroyed.
Still better to have an EV don't have to worry about oil changes and all the other ICE car things that need constant maintenance. While Malaysia fuel is cheap, with home solar there are savings to be made.
I like this ride. But given the highway feedback, would it mean that this isn't good for highway speeds over 100kph and I should opt for the dolphin instead?
The presenter reminds me or Kai and Lok from Digital Rev TV which they tried to do a Topgear for camera. Now that this is about cars, damn, it's like Chinese Topgear in English
This Seagull is larger than my first car, and I'm not *that* old. A 3.87m long car should be fine for the needs of a 3 person family and not just for city driving. People who have 4 large dogs have plenty of huge SUVs to pick from already.

Anyone knows how they can have prices so low? We are talking half the price of a Dacia Spring which already is ridicolously bad made. Another question. Aerodinamically speaking, does the car "pull" on the right at high speeds due to the half grille on the front? Why didn't they make a full width shorter grille instead?

Unforunately there is 3 serious cons: Only 4 seats; No heat pump; the BYD's price is at least 2 times bigger worldwide (not +50%), than in China
