    Why every house in every episode is industrial type (except the first one in this one ep) 😮‍💨😿? Beside that, I adore New Zealand so much!!! It's a God's country indeed 😍🥰!!! Thank you, Phil, for coming to New Zealand and showing to us all of this heavenly beauty! Plz, come to Australia, too☺ (I know Phil will not read this 😔, eh)

      Because of NZ conditions, unlike Aussie,our weather is extreme one minute to the next,
      And these are the more long lasting materials,and design's suitable for NZ

    If they are passionate about nature why did they clear 50 acres of mangroves which are the essential nursery for many fish species?!

      Exactly, Carolyn. Exactly.

      Because the mangroves around the whole harbour,was catching all the land runoffs,mud etc that came down with all the flood's in the area,so they had to remove the mangroves to clean up the harbour,and now,all the fish and shellfish,seaweeds that were dieing out because of the mangroves,being a big part of the problem,are now flourishing

      @@heathermtaylor7683NZ mangroves are not the nurseries that tropical mangroves are. NZ mangroves are fast becoming a weed species because of human activities on land.

    ‘Clearing 50 acres of mangroves’. Surely this is environmental vandalism.

    • @heathermtaylor7683
      @heathermtaylor7683 Месяц назад

      I would say you are exactly right, Meredith. I had a quick look up of mangroves in New Zealand and they are naturally occuring in the estuaries at the northern end of the North Island and, obviously, perform a unique environmental function. I suspect mangroves don't look as pretty as white sandy beaches and mess with the propeller of one's yacht!
      It looks like any mention of "restoring of the land" means environmental vandalism - that's what happens when people with money want to carve out their place in the world - they wreak havoc.

    Phil, these houses become quite boring and impersonal like 25 Beautiful Homes magazine, none have personality. Could the next series, consider, different income responses to Home. NZ is an amazing place, let's see how normal people live ie your viewers. 😂

      Ordinary NZ homes are - ordinary. Most audiences would not be interested in viewing stock standard NZ homes. These homes on the other hand, highlight what is feasible if you are wealthy enough, and can afford a bespoke architecturally designed home, to suit the local characterful landscape. English homes are steeped in historical architecture and design, and incorporate sculptural ornamentation, and exude artistic, and architectural merit, and traditionally, exhibit warmth, cosiness, and “personality” Of course, New Zealanders want that too, but in a different form, with a focus on simplicity and practicality. This is why so many New Zealand high end homes end up looking the way they do. Also, bear in mind that NZ designers and architects use materials which are locally available that can withstand a widely varying climate, and frequent earthquakes. Homes built in the traditional English manner, with stone, masonry, and bricks, although can, and do exist in New Zealand, are not always the best fit for the country’s topography, geology, and climate.
