Thanks for not actually showing how to dismantle, which was why I came to your RUclips in the first place

Its pretty simple to dismantle those older teak coaches. I explain how to do it around 7:40. You simply pry the body shell away from the chassis, then slide the ends off as shown around 8:00. You can use an old credit card, plasticard or a plastic tool like I recently showed in 15 minutes of modeling. Good luck with your coaches!

I've re-built and re-painted quite a few teaks now, even the full range ones as the printing looks awful most of the time. I use a liquin and burnt umber oil paint mixed together to create a "varnished wood" effect. The coaches were painted in citadel jokaero orange before this mixture was applied. although I may try out other colours at some point for a more varied finish. After all of this a coat of varnish is advised followed by transfers then another coat of varnish.

James chick Thanks... I finally got back to painting these over the past couple of days, so videos should be forthcoming. I've been very busy recently working on some backend things for oorail, so it should hopefully all come together nicely in a few weeks! :)

Although you didn’t actually show me how to dismantle the coach I managed to get there in the end without damaging it

Thats kind of the whole point of the video, if I spoon feed everyone, you'll never learn to do it yourself. Now you've learned how to do it, without breaking it because you got just enough information from the video... :) You might want to check out Tamiya panel liner before weathering...

I think the full spec LNER Teak coaches from Hornby are worth every penny.....

Jeremiah Jefferson Bunyan Thanks for taking the time to comment. At £49.99 a coach, they are pretty expensive for what they are. Hornby released slightly more expensive LNER Teak coaches a few years ago, I think they were around £61.00 a coach, but the finish was a lot better. Totally up to you want you want to spend your money on, but personally I'd rather have the APT-E when the stained/varnished old ones look the part! :)
