I got some coffee grounds from Starbucks too but I asked as I sat in the passenger seat of our truck while in the drive thru (few years ago) and I felt weird too because the cashier was trying to hand it to me out the window and it was huge! She was stuffing out toward us and had to pass it over my husband's lap. People behind us looked like "What the heck did they order?!" lol Very cool of them to give them to people.
hahaha oh my goodness that's too funny! I would've loved to see that. I'm sure the people behind you were like.. what is that? Trash? 😂
If you guys ever inoculate your own grain spawn from spores make sure you dial your sterilization methods to 11. The good mushrooms only come in spore form if you catch my drift.

Making mistakes resulted in us learning a lot more about growing mushrooms than if we were to have done it 100% right the first time! Now we get to learn how to grow totem mushrooms too 🎉

Cool project, seems like it was a good learning experience. I've not grown mushrooms before, but I wonder if the isopropyl alcohol is overkill for sanitizing your tray and equipment. It might be worth taking a page out of the homebrewer's kit and using a no-rinse solution like Star San instead.
It was definitely a good learning experiencs. Thanks for the suggestion about cleaning! We'll have to check that out

That's a great idea, do you just set the grounds on top of the plants? Yes! Gotta be proud of reducing waste!
