I got to see her twice in concert in 1992 (I was 8 years old) and 1993 (9 yrs old). My mom and I got to meet her backstage before the first concert ♥️♥️♥️ she was super down to earth, funny, kind, and flawless. She laughed with me and mom. She asked me about school. My mom told her, “Selena, Danny was supposed to go see his abuelita (grandma) this weekend, but he threw a fit and here we are!” Lol 😂 they laughed and I got a little embarrassed but I’m glad I was a brat that night. Please do more reactions because she was meant to be heard and loved. She left a huge legacy that I’m proud of, being Mexican American myself. When she died I was upset thinking she was gonna be forgotten and people will never know how amazing she is and was. It has been the total opposite, her legacy has grown and she’s now a legend ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This show was a huge deal because the Houston Rodeo is like Houston's SXSW and Selena was Tejana (Texas girl). She was like Beyonce for Mexican Americans and rightfully so.
She had the pyrotechnics at the end of the concert, this was the beginning of it, she is amazing btw you have to watch Como La flor or La Carcacha, she is an amazing dancer and singer the whole package

She was headed for bigger things, even started a cross-over album into pop. She was amazing raw talent. No singing or dance lessons, just herself. She adored her fans & often interacted with them . They are Awesome. They have both Spanish and English songs. Los Dinos means 'the family'. Her dad the manager, brother on bass, sister on drums, husband on guitar, and her mother helped out behind the scenes. English is Selena’s first language, but learned to sing in Spanish and eventually speak it. She was sadly murdered at the age of 23 back in 1995 by a person she considered a “friend,” right before she got the opportunity to finish her English debut album, expand her boutique business and fashion line from Texas to Mexico, and most importantly start a family with her husband like she wanted. She is one of the most famous latin artists of all time. As she broke multiple records, sold out tons of concerts, and is still being talked about and celebrated till this day. There’s a really good movie that was released back in 1997 about her life and rise to fame, starring Jennifer Lopez as Selena. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Continues to break records due to her devoted fan base who keep her legacy alive. And Selena Gomez was actually named after her.

Jennifer Lopez played Selena in the movie. This is the movie that made JLO famous!!! Its such a tragic story. She was shot by her woman who worked with her and they were very close. The woman was taking embezzling money from selena and her fans! She had just gotten fired.
You have to watch the movie Selena, it's a good movie but a tough ending to watch because I was a big fan of Selena when I was a kid.

That concert was the last one, it is from 1995, she was killed by her "friend", Selena was only 23 years old. She is the queen of TexMex and thanks to her today Latin Americans can wave in the international industry. Jlo made his movie in 1997.
Fun fact: she designed her stage clothes and the red part of her microphone was her lipstick, she was born in Mexico with Tejeno roots not to mention VERY successful in a male dominated profession? The first song was originally sung by Gloria Gaynor, yes she was murdered by her Manager ( Head of her Fan Club) because she was caught stealing Money from her. She made all her own clothes for her concerts and she was about to make her Cross over from Spanish to English as her first Single was completed and then she was killed. she would have prob. still be doing Music today!

I remember Selena Cumbria, so sad she was murdered, glad you looked her up; was a little funny when you said 2017 - the posted date of this video and not the date of the event. Disco Lesson: Gloria Gaynor sung I Will Survive, Funkytown was sung by Lipps Inc., Last Dance is sung by Donna Summer, The Hustle sung by Van McCoy, On The Radio is also sung by Donna Summer. I was a little disappointed that a disco fan couldn't remember who sung "I will survive" - that is the holy grail of disco. On a personal note I am proud of you, most newfies don't know how to operate machinery let alone make a RUclips video.
