Dirk said something that made me respect him to the fullest.. He said he never felt like he made it and worked everyday to take his game to the next level. If most professional sports players felt this way sports would be fun to watch again. Now its a bunch of divas overshadowing the passionate players of the game.
And he really did it in his career. At least till 2011 and in my opinion also a bit after it Dirk always improved his game in some aspects. He was very talented, but he himself said it several times about some young players that they were already farther than him at that age (not only Luca, but also some other players). I don't think those players were more talented than Dirk (except Luca, he's special), but Dirk did struggle a bit at the begin of his NBA career. And he improved and improved and improved and improved and improved. That's really impressive.
No wonder Holger was as emotional, if not more, when Dirk reached those milestones. The man was basically a dad for him. Not just basketball, but life.
Dirk is the reason why I picked Dallas as my favourite team the first time I saw an NBA game. Great player, wonderful person. If the NBA would ever have alternate logos, his 1-legged jumpshot should be one.

I miss that rivalry, even if we often get beat by the Spurs. But Nowitzki and Duncan going head-to-head is something else. 2 of the best and most humble superstars in the NBA.

everybody talks on her 2011 Season but he already was so great in 2002-2007 … he had this fade away but also dominate in Transition, in the paint etc. he Rebound a a lot, he was so quick in Transition … a matchup Nightmare for his opponents at this time. he was MVP of 2002 world championchips, and his stats in NBA was also fantastic.

Drazen Petrovic would have been the first had he not died, but Dirk put European basketball players on the Map in the NBA. I just felt like After Dirk came along in the NBA every team in the NBA had at least one European player on it. Before Dirk came along, that wasn't the case. You had some European players in the NBA. Dirk was really the first big man to drain those 3's with his patented "step back'' jump shot. I wonder if Dirk drives a Ford-150. I just felt like After Dirk came along in the NBA every team in the NBA had at least one European player on it. Before Dirk came along, that wasn't the case. You had some European players in the NBA. Dirk was really the first big man to drain those 3's with his patented "step back'' jump shot. I wonder if Dirk drives a Ford-150. He comes across as a pick-up truck /Porsche guy to me, not a Ferrari guy.
