This is only a 3 minute video, but there’s a lot to learn here! I think the biggest lesson I still need to learn with gouache is how to just....let go. In watercolor I have so much confidence but I always seem to get timid around my gouache. Some day I’ll be brave in opaque, too!
I love these. When you get back can you please explain what the difference is between a gouache acrylic and regular acrylic paint? Again, beautiful paintings!
Here’s a link with a good and clear explanation about watercolor, acrylic paint and gouache (or how you spell it, lol) createlet.com/gouache-paint-vs-watercolor-paint-vs-acrylic-paint/
Basically, when gouche gets watered down it behaves more like a watercolour paint, but when it's not and is used as-is, it behaves more like an acrylic. Acrylics can't really be watered down - they just end up in clumpy/watery bits.
daseincog acrylics can be watered down, I do it all the time, if they are ending up clumpy for you, that will have more to do with the quality or lack thereof. You can water down acrylics and use them on watercolour paper. If using on canvas it is not advisable to water down more than 30 percent otherwise the binder breaks up and you will encounter issues with the acrylic sticking to the canvas properly. The difference between acrylics and gouache is the binder. Acrylics are permanent, gouache is not, it is very easily reconstituted with water. Personally I prefer acrylic gouache - best of both worlds.
Yaay! You know what's been interesting about you? Watching you painting makes me wanna paint too. Thank you, deary! Btw I finished my first sketchbook thanks to you haha😊
I hate painting with gouache and I can't get myself to work with it more to get better at it. All the complete artworks in gouache I find look complicated and I always feel like I'll never be as good as the artists who drew these. But you make it look so simple. It really helps to load off some of the anxiety before starting a new project. Thank you so much for making these videos!
Details! Yes, I agree! I always felt like my paintings were not finished until I started to add details. Keep up the good work! I love watching your videos!
Ms. Minnie, I absolutely adore this! I watched this video the minute it uploaded, but it's been such a busy weekend since that I never got a chance to comment you! I love the creations, first and foremost, but I also adore the simplistic approach you are taking and what I graciously envy about you in the sweetest and humblest way is how you don't overthink even when creating a simplistic piece! Now, me, on the the hand, I would have spent at least ALL DAY LONG trying to finish one little ole page in book this size! I'd over thinking it without meaning to! Why? Because I'm weird! LOL! But, even so, I'd love to practice more on how YOU do it and try to do it in my style but in a more free form space and flow. That'd be a very sweet achievement for myself! Thank you, Minnie-beans, for taking the time to teach us these sweet gems of information!
Ah I seriously love your videos. They give me such a relaxed feeling. No matter how long or short they are, they always help me wind down after a long day! 💖
It's good to work with color blobs then working out the details later, since most people get caught up in the details so easily. We don't see views in complete detail, so one sould pic what should be in an out of focus.
If you're still out there thanks this straight in approach is exactly how I learn, someone talking for more than 5 minutes just looses me. Thanks again
Loved this video! I’ve been rewatching all your vlogs for the last couple days, I have a very important deadline in a few days, a very large portrait. Rewatching your videos while painting helps me loosen up and relax. Thank you ❤️
Minnie I just wanted to say I love your channel and works. You inspire me a lot, and watching your videos just makes me want to create more. You're so creative.
I looooove your landscape paintings! they're so simple yet I think you've mastered adding detail where it's not overdoing it if that makes sense. great video Minnie!
Oh my gosh yes, I'm so happy to see that you've gotten more confident and comfortable with these , and I definitely see the improvement🌼keep up the good work 💕🌼🌼
Amazing that you can create such a beautiful painting in such a short period of time! I can see the hard work and dedication you put into you art it's truly motivational Minnie🤗 X
i really apprreciate your progress with these quick landscape paintings. the only thing i would add is that in my personal opinion sometimes a painting can look much better if you leave the tape on or even better- dont even bother puting tape on the paper and just leave the edges as they turn out from your brush stroke.. it gives the painting a certain charm and a more organic feeling to it. paintings with straight edges resemble photos. but of course it's up to you and it really depends on what you want to achieve with a certain piece.
Your videos are the best for helping me stay focused while I work on art of my own. You just have so much interesting information to share, and you have such a soothing voice! XD So thank you for creating such amazing content! :)
this makes me want to try traditional painting
you're an inspiration

Kyomii I thought acrylic gouache can't be reactivated with water?

These videos and the whole "simplify scenes" concept are some of my favorite you've done. Please keep making them. Loving all your uploads!
the color palette is stunning
I love how there's everything you need in a three minute video
If you're still out there thanks this straight in approach is exactly how I learn, someone talking for more than 5 minutes just looses me. Thanks again
