Is this Australian? I’m in west Australia so it’s different but I go in a tinny a km or two out . Hour before Sunset. Drop anchor. Chop up Mulie and chuck them out. Two rods no sinker or little ball. One hook with half a mulie ( pilchard ) and as sun nearly set … bang! The big snapper take my line and run. I slow them down and take them in. Nearly every time but that my local area. Your local area will have a way to catch. Once you find that out you will catch same! You probably good at fishing but if they don’t take bait you can’t pull them in. My childhood, if didn't catch fish, we use to dive for mussels, :).
