    Now that it’s becoming more ubiquitous I would recommend getting a pair of pex pipe shears for the truck tools. Cuts through the stuff like butter.

    I would like to see your take on how you scrap a refrigerator or a spring mattress.

    As a newbie subscriber, It was fun going for the trip with you. I love that it’s great for keeping things out of the landfill, making some money & keeping fit, as well.
    I love finding value in what’s often overlooked and learning about even more to be grateful for. There’s a feeling of added suspense not seeing the people (hopefully most people are good about it). To me all treasure is what’s found underneath the surface through discovery. Pure joy Thanks for the vids!

    Possible suggestion for a new video. I’ve been collecting scrap for a while and I’ve got a decent understanding of separating metals but I’m almost clueless when it comes to wires.
    A lot of the videos I’ve watched are done so quick and don’t really explain why certain wires are in the category they are. Usually someone picks up a wire that you can’t tell from any other and they say that’s 40%.
    I’m sure lots of people are losing money by sorting their wires incorrectly.

    With steel prices so low, when I’m out collecting I make a point not to spend any time processing something that will get turned in as steel shred anyways. In my neighborhood, shreds still going for under 90 a ton, and my Silverado 1500 wouldn’t be happy if I loaded much more than 1700 pounds. I very much agree with something you said maybe a year or two ago, which is “the secret to making money scrap metaling, is more trips to the yard, more steel. The only way for that to happen is if you raise your standards for what steel you’re grabbing. If it ain’t ready to load, then you’re spinning your wheels. The only counter to that logic is that sometimes if you follow the little pieces of steel it will on occasion lead you to a good amount of non-ferrous at the bottom of the pile

    As a scale technican, who sells the And EJ series. You will find they will lose accuracy outside the manufacturer tolerance if the scale is not level. The bubble level that's in the left of the display is a good help. But your scale should not rock side to side when Weighing. Yes it is a digital scale, but the loadcell still sits under a subplatter. That can rub over time and weighments in the side of the scale housing.
    Just a heads up, love the channel

    Hey Thub. I live in southern ontario. People used to put all kinds of metal stuff on the curb but not anymore. I have not found a microwave in more than a year now. During the cough cough a few years ago when people were getting all kinds of money from the govt there was tons of stuff. Now. Nothing. What say you? There is a scrapyard down the street and am wondering if the guy is going around with his truck very early in the morning. Last Sunday there was a small freezer down the street and half an hour later it was gone. Also in the industrial areas people look at you suspiciously even when there is nothing to find. Go figure. I guess the economy is better in Alberta. And you have coal in the foothills that you can dig up by hand to keep warm in the winter if things get tough. Not here. Anyway love your videos you seem like a kind person. Oh just to end this rant. We have empty bottles and cans lying on the ground everywhere because there is no deposit on them. Again go figure. Then they have the nerve to say there is too much plastic in the environment. Ontario sucks but I am a prisoner here.

    • @thubprint
      @thubprint  8 месяцев назад

      I guess it comes and goes, I wouldn’t want to rely exclusively on found scrap for my sole income. Not sure what the financial climate is like out there but albertans are getting hit pretty hard with natural gas bills and grocery hikes. I guess anyone who took the CERB months off would be back hunting full time by now in any case.
      Interesting thought on the coal though! I’ve found heaps of the stuff myself on hikes, but I think it needs to be cured or processed somehow first

    • @andyprigge4754
      @andyprigge4754 8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for the reply. I think it needs to be washed and some coal is high in sulfur so that would have to be removed. Possibly through filtration or a chemical reaction. Have a great Thanksgiving..........AndyO...........@@thubprint

      I hit like on your comment but i also disagree to some extent. If you have free time at all and free time that no one else could be paying you for while copper prices are low but certain to rise in 1-2 years then i could argue youd be doing yoursf a service. In the sense of buying low and selling high or long term savings.
      If today youre making nothing but tomorrow you’re effectively doubling you’re value vs inflation then its worth considering.
