It's fairly VERY new. It's a GIANT step in this fanbase in Africa. No doubt that this will continue to grow extremely fast in the next decade. The more access that Africa has to the world and vice verse, the more these kinds of events will become known. I love seeing it too.
FR, I haven't made a thought or seen how colored people will look like cosplaying characters like her and this video made me took a glimpse of its beauty
Love from the US. I cried watching this. my mother is from ghana and my dad is from brazil! It makes me so happy that there are people who look like me dressing up and doing cosplay of some of my favorite characters. Much joy and many tears! I would love to come visit!!!
I'm glad I watched this before I did my makeup cause something about black people in community, joy, and self-expression just brings me to tears. This was very beautiful.

I live in the states and the last anime convention I went to was in Coral Springs, FL in 2023...and....it sucked. This one was lively, well-put together, many activities and side events, AWESOME merch and looked like equally awesome people! It would've been nice to be at this one!
You put zero2 on the thumb I’m going to click edit: yooooo this is awesome! Really well done con and the production for this video was so so good. Really cool to see this ❤
This is soo freaking coool wow!! I love everything about this, I hope it continues to grow for the African nerds out there. This is soo freaking sickkkkk!!!! 💖💖💖
This otamatsuri was bomb I can't wait for next years and hopefully I won't be as sick as I was this time around and will enjoy it better. Thanks for organizing the whole thing your effort was appreciated.
ive always loved anime as a half african. and i always loved the idea of cosplay at the age of 11. but i gave up because i think black people cant do it cosplay just because of the own stereotype of my head, but seeing this heals my heart.

Disney really fumbled the bag big time
Looks like a great turnout.
