They should make stepping on the foot of a defender an offensive foul. You’re a hack if the that’s what you gotta do to cross someone.
Have you ever played basketball? That's not intentional and also dangerous for the offensive player. Landing on someone's foot is a great way to hurt your ankle. This isn't the same as pushing off. This is accidental contact and would be impossible for refs to call in real time anyway
@@dribblewithjacob9131, yup, a lot. That’s a fair point about the much higher risks to an offensive player when he jumps and lands on defender’s foot. I don’t think a player in that instance should be called for a foul but I think that’s a totally different scenario than causing a defender to trip while he’s trying to stay in front of you by stepping on his foot. It may not have been intentional but a lot of fouls, if not most, aren’t intentional. And yes, it would be hard for the refs to see. I did some reffing as well and it’s really hard to catch everything when there’s so much going on on the floor. At the very least people shouldn’t be making highlight videos of ankle breaks when the break wasn’t caused by skill. He shows great handles and maybe the defender would have fallen anyways if he hadn’t stepped on his toe, but I doubt it in this instance.
