- Bung Tomo's speech with original voice without background music (back sound) was performed in commemoration of the 75th Indonesian Independence Day which will be celebrated on 17 August 2020.
Prior to the outbreak of the Battle of Surabaya (Battle of Surabaya), November 10, 1945, Sutomo or better known as Bung Tomo, appeared to spark the fighting spirit of the people of Surabaya with his famous speech as Bung Tomo's speech.
Bung Tomo's speech (with his original voice), was not only thick with fighting spirit and unity, but also filled with pluralistic values; In this speech, Bung Tomo interpreted the people of Surabaya as a very plural Indonesian with the real existence of all ethnic groups in it. There were people from Maluku, Sulawesi, Bali, Kalimantan, Sumatra, Aceh and others, who merged into a single fighting unit in the formidable Arek-arek Suraboyo army, which was not easily defeated by British troops who had triumphed in Europe.
The fighting unit of the people of Surabaya, from various elements, with makeshift weapons was able to trouble the British for almost a month, and killed more than half of the British and Gurkha troops.
Hopefully, Bung Tomo's speech will be a reminder and burner of our determination who are still struggling to face the invisible enemy, Covid-19. The unquenchable determination that we will be able to overcome this pandemic with victory.
