In Aizawl I've heard there are a lot of landslides, yet this building seems to have been standing as you said for 50+ years, so my question is: did ground stability influence your land/house purchase?
The slope on this property is average; there a places that are a lot steeper. It did influence our decision to add retaining walls under the house though. The extra floor is just a bonus.

Are you using red oxide before painting the roof? I strongly recommend it because if you simply use paint, it usually goes off after 2 or 3 monsoons.
