Hi mr Daz. Nice to see you back was unexpected. Hope you and Northern pickers team up in future again. He is looking after some one at the moment so best not disturb him at moment.
@MrDazP1adv3ntures I'm just relatively new to gold panning, had few micro specs but that's about it. Its a Good day even finding nothing. Excuse to go camping and paning and getting away from the madness of life . Better than any pill for depression and anxiety And a great night's sleep. People should try it at least once. Pan away
Nice vid Daz. Great underwater shots of the suction pump in action. Every now and again that burn gives up a decent picker, one of my best pieces from there. All the best
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures I know what you mean. It’s one thing trying to find gold, but to filming finding it there and then adds a whole other level of difficulty
Try following the falls of Clyde nature walk from new Lanark there old Roman baths n ruins along some waterways with gold in mainly sun bakers I found when a kid
Thanks once again Stephen. I have seen some pictures of the falls and they look stunning to say the least which has always begged the question, could there be gold ?
You know this more than anyone buddy. BTW, it's been warm and sunny for over a week here now ! In general it has been cold up to June more often than not.
@mattjohn7700 there's also a new theory being put out there by scientists with philosophical doctoring where they believe there must have been a "Creator". They are talking about the moments before the big bang. There was nothing. And from nothing basic life structures eventually came to be. Then they talk about how these simple cells are basically coded with information (DNA). Mankind creates coding in every day technology, so this begs the question, Where did the coding of life come from, if there was nothing to begin with ? They then talk about the "The Goldilocks zone" ..... It's deep stuff but proper interesting.🤔🤪
Oh wow dude I've been on that stretch quite a few times an never seen anything that big just tiny bits nice find, the yellow stuff is a nightmare lol it melts into a silver blob would love to get it tested to see what it is
Hi Carl, I think the yellow stuff could be Pyromorphite but please correct me if I'm wrong. It's a good little stretch up there as it will continually give you some gold, albeit on the small side I was surprised to see the picker land on the top mat because at first it looked like a bent piece of metal. It had some weight to it from the sound it made in the pan.
@MrDazP1adv3ntures morning, I couldn't tell u what it was daz I did take some to a jewler to melt down for me an it turned in to a silver blob he said if I could get 5lb of it he would send it to a refinery for me to see what's actually in it, I never accepted the challenge lol, good effort once again dude nice find 😎
Hi Jay, like most prospectors, I have little sample vials with gold from the regions I have found it. The truth is, it takes a long long time for it to mount up. I'm not a prolific nugget catcher but I am passionate about telling the story of how the day unfolded. I have met other people in the community who really do find amazing gold but tend not to film it....
Thanks for sharing your local knowledge Stephen. I know where Tinto hill is too. Have you ever prospected the hills to the south east of Moffat. There's fault lines right on a few burns...
Hi Daz when I was a lad l found a field covered in mushrooms. I was born not long after the second world war and I lived in a prefab, the inside was made of cardboard! When I found the mushrooms it was like finding a pot of gold there were hundreds, maybe one day you will find your river of gold😊 Sir Michael Caine lived in a prefab, not a lot of people know this 😂
Nice one young man. Michael Caine and mushrooms. I'm sure we could make a joke out of this some how. The weather has been fab all week hasn't it. I trust that you are getting out and doing at least 2 laps of Honister pass 😁
Hello @theoldguy , being an old gal myself, I remember seeing the prefabs you mention, of-cause they may not be the same ones, I lived between Derby and Nottingham at the time, I also believe Sir Michael Caine did live in one at some point in his life, but like you say “ Not a lot of people Know this” 😅
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures Hello Darren, just popping in to see how you’re doing, still enjoying the Scottish landscape I see, congrats on that nice little find I would have to frame it as it came from a Scottish burn 😅 short story about mushrooms 🍄 but no joke, as a child I loved mushrooming with my dad until he related the chilling event when a farmer let his Bull loose in the field he was collecting them as a youth, he was tossed over a 6ft hedge, luckily for him he landed on the opposite side or I wouldn’t be here to tel the tale today 🤷♀️ Good luck on finding that river of gold the old guy mentioned 🤞then I can come and have a holiday in your new mansion, if only!! 👋
Great video, I subscribed because of your cycling videos but enjoyed this too. Knowing nothing about panning for gold I was wondering, what do you do with the findings? Leave them as they are or melt them down together to create a single nugget? Also what kind of weight was your total findings from this video? I know you said that single speck would make your day but the whole find seemed massive compared to that.
Hello Jon, I have many hobbies but have been cycling since a school boy but found gold panning a bit later on in life as I didn't believe that there was gold in the UK. How wrong was I... The honest answer is, When I find it I enjoy looking at it and It can be quite mesmorizing. It ends up in small vaisles. Hopefully one day I will have enough to make a wedding band for my daughter but putting all of this to one side, it is a great subject to film and to share with others who have watched me go from knowing nothing at all about the subject to a regular video maker based in the UK. A typical day can vary from 0.2 g to 1 or 2 g depending on the area and the geology of the location. The bigger pieces found in the UK are mainly discovered with specialist metal detectors or by diving for it - known as sniping. General panning and sluicing is more laborious and if the ground isn't good, it will show in your pan at the end of the day.
Please help.. just brought the gear.. no idea lol, wanting to go wild camping/panning.. do I need permission/permit before I go.. anywhere you'd recommend.. any advice gratefully appreciated
Wild camping is fine in Scotland but the places like around Loch Lomond may have restrictions due to litter louts. In England and Wales it's not permitted but many people who do this, arrive late and leave early with no traces. Leadhills is a great place to wild camp and permits to are about £35 a year. The Mennock is popular too. You can a permit from the mining museum.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures have copd so can't trek to far from car lol.. don't really like the idea of too busy tho.! Hope to have a sluice by the weekend then full kit, bring it on.. sigh lol

It must have been hammered by the old timers, I dare say they diverted the river at some point too.
@@MrDazP1adv3ntures yeah absolutely, the ground there is full of evidence of past workings
