It's possible. But when I translated it into DeepL, it said "Taste of cockroaches." So it could be either of the three: "The Flavour of a Cockroach," "Flavour of a Cockroach," or "Taste of Cockroaches." But not every translation is correct or accurate. When I translated "Flavor of a cockroach," it said as shown in the translation "ゴキブリの味." The English translation said "The taste of cockroaches." but it had the same symbols as shown in the title. So the translation is possibly a bit wrong. Same for "The flavour of a cockroach." Same English translation. It was the same too for "Taste of Cockroaches". All shown translations above are the same. But translating "ゴキブリの味," said "Taste of Cockroaches" Of the translation. But as said. Every translation site won't be accurate or correct. So any said above could be the correct translation.
Some people are talking like this is about a bullying victim, but I think it’s actually about a bully herself. At the beginning, she has a sweet, innocent view of life, like an elementary school kid. She goes, making friends, and following the crowd (destroying idiosyncrasies), and bullying others because she’s still innocent and doesn’t really know better. When the instrumental gets dark, that’s entering middle school, and the bullying has gotten more violent, the innocence gone. They are now aiming to kill, though suicide, undesirables. The singer goes along wholeheartedly, that being all she knows, but when she steps out, speaks her mind, and returns to the simple happy melody of a kid, she’s seen as insane, cringy. She starts to reconsider, feel doubt. After the recorder bit, we see her question the structure in her school, the terrible people on top and the valiant, but broken targets. She feels sick, knowing all the hurt she’s done, who she’s ruined, maybe even killed, but knows that she can’t stop the crowd. The last line, “the whole thing, I think is sick” is her reflecting back at the system of bullying. If you notice, bullying is always addressed by the singer as something done to other people (they’ll make a mess of *her*). Just because she’s sad, doesn’t mean she’s the target. Or, well, she briefly is, when she steps out of line, but the focus is on her bullying others to avoid the same fate.
I think this is more of a scarcastic first person narrative meant to capitalize on the hypocrisy of modern society or even human social behavior of seeking conformity and ostrcizing those who stray from it. It also focuses on the mentality of those who seek to lead other and ultimately oppressing those that dont conform to the social norm.
You guys have no idea how disconcerting it is to have this song come on on your Spotify only knowing that it's by Maretu and sounds entirely too cheerful for that context.
“The whole thing I think is sick” could be someone being interviewed after the death of the person. It sounds like something someone completely uninvolved in a situation would say about a suicide on the news because of bullying.
You're actually almost right! The original sample comes from a documentary about a series of murders? About the Charles Manson family killings. It's also a Slipknot reference and MARETU likes Slipknot :) www.kerrang.com/the-news/the-whole-thing-i-think-its-sick-the-origin-of-slipknots-infamous-sample/
@@nutsafiso7609 either Sic or their beginning song with all the numbers yk the album introducer for their first album, i was gonna type the numbers but fuck that.
I agree that this song is from the perspective of a bully, but its more likely that she became a bully herself to avoid _being_ bullied, as redundant as that sounds. I wouldn't say she was naïve to hurting people as some have said. Instead, in Japan, its common to bully others in groups. This is especially true for girls. Most of the girls don't want to be a bully, but join in on targeting one particular student to avoid being targeted themselves. This is supported by lines like, "Bias within a group", and "If you find a scoundrel, with all our strength, let's pour this flame of justice onto him." That last example in particular is strong, with the _scoundrel_ being the victimized classmate and the usage of plural _our/let's_ to imply more than one attacker. One of the very last lines, "Everyone is going to unite, laughing at that child, with all their heart." supports this theory a lot, too. The positive messages in conjunction with the negative ones are likely meant to represent intrusive thoughts. "If everyday is spent like an exciting day," coupled with the reply "that doesn't exist." I'm interpreting it as someone speaking to themselves, rather than responding to another person. Again, if the narrator was forced into bullying someone else to stay safe, so to speak, she probably feels a lot of guilt and self doubt because of it. The _intrusive thoughts_ would be a reflection of her self doubt. If you want to combine that with other theories, take into account how the second voice (in parenthesis) is positive in the beginning, too. The replies get more negative as the song goes on, implying her thoughts are also getting more negative. In addition, the happy lyrics combined with the negative lyrics might be how she acts towards adults and authority, versus how she feels about what she is actually saying. We've all probably had experience with people in general who act angelic around some folks, but absolutely evil to others. The poll visual, I think, symbolizes both what she's done to other students and what she's done herself to fit in. "Have you ever hurt someone?" and similar lyrics representing how she has bullied others, versus "Have you ever been forced to shoplift?" possibly being something she did to remain _friends_ with the bullies and avoid being picked on by them. Also, I wanted to point out, 1:08 the poll question here can also be translated do "have you ever had your hair burnt with a lighter?" It works either way, because it can imply self harm if she is doing it to herself or bullying if she is doing it to somebody else. There are other references to self harm, like "did you ever attempt suicide?" There's also lines to suggest that she's in this bullying _friend_ group and she hates it, like the poll question, "Do you wish you could leave someone?" There's tons of lines about friends, specifically "circle of friends" which further implies a group of people and ties into the theory I mentioned earlier. Also, to further support my theory of the second voice being her inner monologue, I want to point out how often the friends are referred to in the beginning. As the song continues and the song gets darker, there's almost no mention of it. Kind of makes me think that perhaps, at one point, the narrator did consider these people her friends but either they _became_ bullies or simply became too cruel as their violence progressed. Lastly, the very final line, "they'll just make a mess" once again seems to reflect her real feelings about her group. The line before it, "Everyone is going to unite, laughing at that child, with all their heart," almost implies that they found a new victim and the narrator knows it will become a troublesome mess. The image made up of text looks like its meant to be a school. I saw someone point that out and I thought it was a neat fun fact. It could also sorta look like a prison, which is fitting too. Anyway, the song is almost definitely about bullying, but I wanted to interpret the finer details a little differently than others.
I don’t know why this doesn’t have more attention, this is the one I think is the most true and relates to the story the most, while being realistic about how people would act. nice job interpreting!

Everyone talking about Miku being a bully or a bullying victim but I personally think that Miku is non of that I actually have 4 theories about this song. 1. Miku represents the reality of being in school and being a student. 2.Miku is singing about the reality of school and the things she has seen. 3.Miku is the bully and the victim (she might get bullied and bully at the same time that does happen because there are different levels of bullying at least that's what I've seen). 4.Miku has two personalities or there are two different people singing because in some parts the background Miku vocals and the main Miku vocals seem to have different opinions.
In case anyone still isn't sure, what they're saying at the end is "The whole thing I think is sick", the same audio is in the beginning of the slipknot song Sic and it's a lot easier to hear there :)
At the end, it's definitely something like "the whole thing I think is sick" but that's been accepted for awhile now. What I wanna give is my theory on what the slowed down voice at the end is saying. I've heard people say it might be something like "Oishii" which means delicious. the first part definitely sounds like it, if someone is saying it super slowly. But the next part kinda doesn't sound the same. I think the ending bit is "desu ne" which turns into "Oishii desu ne" If I have my basic Japanese correct, that translated into something like "It's delicious" but more closer to like "Isn't it delicious?" because the "ne" part at the end turns it into a question, I believe. Considering the song's title... It's quite a fitting question to ask, yeah? Edit: I actually looked it up, got it wrong, it is just them saying "It's delicious" but in like, a reaffirming/polite manner.
@@leechee9887 It's... Really not that hard to miss? Like I'm not wearing headphones and I could hear it. I just said it's right near the end after the code bit! Just listen closer! buuuuut if you insist on a timstamp, it starts at 4:14 and goes until the end of the music.
(TW: Bullying, suicide.) This songs pretty clear that it’s about bullying, judging by the questions and the imagery of a school at 1:49 I think this is from the bullys(mikus) perspective, and the backing vocals(I can’t tell if it’s gumi or just a different version of miku) are followers who help the bully out. I’m pretty sure all the questions are directed towards the victim of the bully, considering they ask what things have happened to them and if they still find meaning in their life. The bullying seems relatively innocent until the victim is driven to suicide at 2:51. I think this because the lyrics mention a swaying spirt(which could imply hanging and the spirit being a dead person). After it’s found out the victim is dead, the bully continues to live in denial for a bit while all the followers abandon them as they can’t believe why they still believe everything is okay after driving someone to suicide( hence they lyrics, “Imposing, that doesn’t exist, and “is your brain decaying?”) When the bully goes “I’m going to vomit” that’s why they realizes fully what they’ve done and feels awful about their actions.(Probably where the “The whole thing I think is sick” comes from at the end.) overall, this is just what I interpreted it as, and I’m so sorry if this doesn’t make sense to someone else reading this. I tried my best.😅
my personal theory about the song like many people, I still think it's about a bully, however, the background vocals are actually people who slowly turn against the bully, possibly from suffering from the same bullcrap the bully put other people through, the end has the other people turn on the bully, realizing how shitty of a person they are, and the bully stays the same trough out, and when they turn innocent, it's them trying to get power back, however, everyone else already lost any reason to care, with the line "is this person sane" basically being an indicator that they have turned, and the final lines "impossible, doesn't exist" and "uh, is your brain decaying" showing that the background vocals have no longer a reason to believe a thing the bully says
30,000 subcribers with no videos challenge it’s not, the quote is from a Manson murders documentary and was used as the opening of a Korn song, which Maretu is a big fan of
To anyone listening to this song who can/could relate in any capacity: Don't give up. It can and does get better. The harsh reality that bullying is real and sometimes without any valid warrant can make it all feel hopeless, but you can still find love from others and yourself. Know that even now there is someone who loves you, cares for you, and is worried about you. Even if you have never met them. Even if you will NEVER meet them. They exist. For what it's worth, I care about you, who might be reading this. I love you and wish you the best.
Ohhhh god, this song is so good but it really hits me with some intense nausea/hopelessness, especially now that I know the exact details of it. MARETU is always incredible at drumming up these visceral emotions :,) thank you for the translation! (and so fast too!!)
Thank you for uploading a translation, I really like it. I wonder though why you chose "leave" for Q29 (2:57), since I understood it more as "Is there someone you'd want to disappear?" But that's just a small thing, overall your translation is still really good ^^
Welp, I don't know about the taste, but cockrach-kun definitely sounds like a rollercoaster of a moe girl's express ride down straight to hell.. And as usual, Maretu rewards the wait, second half is a jam.
I feel like this song is about a child being abused yet always looks at the brightside of things, if you look at the questions it's usually about rude things people have done/messed up things, but as you look at the lyrics they're all happy and nice, but in the end they're are not happy anymore.
Yesssss, I was waiting for a translation. I've seen someone in the original upload interpretating the gibberish at the end of the PV as: "Your perception is correct"
Yay, you translated Maretu's new song!! I find it amazing!!! I really like how at the beginning it's almost pop, but as the narrator/victim is getting more depressed (and bullied), the song is getting more intense, with much more drums and a way less jumpy melody. What do you think the words form? A school building? Personally, I see a very stylised tank haha It's been pointed out before, but I also hear "The whole thing I think is sick".
I personally thought its obviously a school? I mean this song is about bullying, and look at the words, "education" "wimp" "noob" etc, its all pointed out on school life. Its Japanese school, the clock in the middle, and the typical building shape
although there are themes of bullying, in my opinion there’s also toxic positivity aspects, too (or more specifically, people being nice to you even though they hate u/are the perpetrators), they’ll seem nice and cheery towards you for likeablity (like said in 1:37) and will still continue to bully you (many of the acts stated in the questions can easily be done without u knowing who the perpetrator is). for the bully, it’s an endless cycle of causing problems and seeming like you’ve “solved/helped them” just something ive thought about!! definitely not correct interpretation but still cool ig
What I think is happening is she was and innocent child and then she started getting bullied. Because she started getting bullied she then developed a different state of mind And she starts bullying others . As you see the song go on you can see the way she thinks even with her looking at the beginning of the song and saying it’s not true. Even the questions get more intense as the song gets on.
Everyone talking about how they think this song is about bullying. But at the first time I listened to it and saw the lyrics I interpreted as someone who has a twisted vision of reality, someone who twisted their own reality to make things seem more happy and less agonizing and sad as they actually are, I think this represents someone who is maybe on a toxic friendship with a group who makes bully with others, and maybe forcing them to joining, and also making them the target, and because of this and because of other traumas they try to cover the hurtfull reality with a twisted happy vision, but as far they go on, It starts to get harder for them to cover the reality with their twisted happy view of things...
Everyone's saying the voice says "the whole thing i think is sick", which does sound correct lol but i thought it said "the whole thing i did is sick"/ "the whole thing I deem is sick" at first! (Still kinda do, so idk lol)
I think this song is about a bully who is trapped, she is in a bully group but she doesnt want to bully other kids, however if she leaves the group shes going to get bullied. She is sick of having to torture victims so she starts her day as a 'happy day' looking all cheerful and innocent even thought she is going to be miserable later on. When she graduated or when she isnt in contact with the bulies, she apologizes to the victim, but because she doesn't apologize often her apology is crappy and looks like she is doing it because she is told to even though she is very sincere by saying the victim should be happy that the bullies are gone. I think the questions are what the bully or the other bully has done to the victim
The further you listen, the questions get more deranged and they stop feeling like pranks. This could be the representation of the bully victim getting worse and worse bullies as the years go on. However, some questions still feel a lot more lighthearted than others, possibly because some bullies haven't changed. However, those also decrease as the video goes on.
I love how scary this song is, it’s about bullying in school but I always imagine mvs in my head about my own thoughts bullying and torturing me regardless of what thoughts are they exactly, and it still fits
this hits a lil too close to home. the whole perspective of a bully bullying to avoid getting bullied ltr sounds like the exact cycle my class is in. I'm in a small islamic private school, in a class where there's around ten students. situation is too complicated to describe, but to summarize: there's a social hierarchy system in my class. it happened without anyone knowing, but now it's solidified and it's almost impossible to get out of or realize that it's happening if you're not bullied yourself. person at the top has all the other bullies groveling down to make the person like them. to make it to the top, you gotta be smart, have a mind of your own, plus fit into all the other ideals all the lower bullies have. if you fall out of any ideals the bullies have, they kick you from the top. and the only place to go when you're kicked from the top is fall to the very bottom. this happened quite recently to the bully who made a relationship with me and spilled everything. now I believe, she's slowly becoming a better person. but I can't know for sure just yet, that's just what I'm hoping. it's sad to watch, and, even though I got bullied, I'm extremely glad that I was bullied. because now I'm not stuck in their horrid cycle. I'm lucky that they never got too violent though. the only reason my classmates never get violent with the bullying is because we learn in a masjid. and there are always teachers in every corner. the situation described in this song is very real and I hope no one has to bully just to survive.
My interpretation of the song is about a kid at first being happy and positive but later on joins the wrong group of kids, the circle group of kids they join are bullies. As they go along with the bullies, the bullies also want to turn them into a bully, saying that what they do is justice and is okay. But the person feels bad for the victims but doesn't do anything about it, they just comfort the victims and nothing else because the person still wants to be friends with the bullies. Later on the people ask if the person is sane and one replies "of course", maybe because the person is with bullies but also helps victims. In one part of the song the person confronts one victim saying every day should be lived like an exciting day but the victims disagrees and questions how can he live positive and happy then asks the person if their brains are decaying, because of expecting the victim to be happy while being bullied every day. That is all I'm writing for now. I'll be writing the rest of my theory of the song another day TwT
@@gladossolos9190I feel like white happy & this song are in the same timeline because in my Pov, this "victim" is somehow related to the optimistic person from the white happy song because since the beginning of the song is all joy and happiness until you get to the middle part of it shows that everything that surrounds this victim is all a complete,made-up, sick lie and maybe this song is also connected to the white happy song because both have similarities. The beautiful lie at the beginning and it's dark, sick, painful truth about the environmen & ,Society...perhaps the Pessimistic person from white happiness is also in this song since the part of "uh, is your brain decaying?" , "that's not how it works" part.

I personally think this song is about a group of friends that bully one person in the group or basically act like they are friends with them but humiliate the victim while being "friends" with them. I personally had this too because my old friends from school would always talk shit about me and other stuff. Only like 2 people from the friend group were real friends.

I think its called flavor of a cockroach because cockroaches cannibalize each other's dead bodies. Like how bullies can backstab eachother
Either that or because they feed dead cockroaches to the victim in the end
Well, the last question is asking if you were ever forced to eat a dead cockroach so that could be why.
oh wait it asks if you ever had eaten a dead cockroach-
In the original video, someone said that feeding a cockroach to a person is like saying "you are a cockroach" because of this whole cannibalism thing

Sorry for late reply, but the line is originally from a documentary about the Manson Family
There are other references to self harm, like "did you ever attempt suicide?"
There's also lines to suggest that she's in this bullying _friend_ group and she hates it, like the poll question, "Do you wish you could leave someone?" There's tons of lines about friends, specifically "circle of friends" which further implies a group of people and ties into the theory I mentioned earlier.
I thought the image was supposed to be a camera, but it being a school makes a bit more sense 😂
the questions gradually got more violent as the song went on😭

7. Yes but they picked the wrong victim because I can get out in the window (I'm a skinny child and I was only stuck there in a few minutes)
MARETU also used Slipknot vocals in TOOL, do you think he's a fan?

“Yo bro play the best part.”

my personal theory about the song
like many people, I still think it's about a bully, however, the background vocals are actually people who slowly turn against the bully, possibly from suffering from the same bullcrap the bully put other people through, the end has the other people turn on the bully, realizing how shitty of a person they are, and the bully stays the same trough out, and when they turn innocent, it's them trying to get power back, however, everyone else already lost any reason to care, with the line "is this person sane" basically being an indicator that they have turned, and the final lines "impossible, doesn't exist" and "uh, is your brain decaying" showing that the background vocals have no longer a reason to believe a thing the bully says
I believe the voice at 3:47 ish is saying “the whole thing I think is sick”
Same
"the whole thing i sing is sick" is probably more accurate.
30,000 subcribers with no videos challenge it’s not, the quote is from a Manson murders documentary and was used as the opening of a Korn song, which Maretu is a big fan of

Don't give up. They exist.

@Moonfish This being a camera or a school building are the two options that are most likely true.
I personally thought its obviously a school? I mean this song is about bullying, and look at the words, "education" "wimp" "noob" etc, its all pointed out on school life. Its Japanese school, the clock in the middle, and the typical building shape
@Moonfish its shaped a litte weirdly for a camera

@@sugarheart2551 I think it might be a fist because y’know bullying. They could also end up hurting someone. Makes sense to thing it’s a school too.
although there are themes of bullying, in my opinion there’s also toxic positivity aspects, too (or more specifically, people being nice to you even though they hate u/are the perpetrators), they’ll seem nice and cheery towards you for likeablity (like said in 1:37) and will still continue to bully you (many of the acts stated in the questions can easily be done without u knowing who the perpetrator is). for the bully, it’s an endless cycle of causing problems and seeming like you’ve “solved/helped them”
just something ive thought about!! definitely not correct interpretation but still cool ig
What I think is happening is she was and innocent child and then she started getting bullied. Because she started getting bullied she then developed a different state of mind And she starts bullying others . As you see the song go on you can see the way she thinks even with her looking at the beginning of the song and saying it’s not true. Even the questions get more intense as the song gets on.

i love how maretu's songs have the most gruesome lyrics but are such a bop
I like the sound of "the whole thing i deem/did is sick" more :)

3:47 I think it says, The whole thing I think is sick. Also at the end I hear a slowdown voice and it creeps me out. Thanks for the English subtitles!
Wow thanks a lot,i really appriciate this work of yours!!! You even translate all the questions

3:11 is just
My interpretation of the song is about a kid at first being happy and positive but later on joins the wrong group of kids, the circle group of kids they join are bullies.

Almost mesmerized some of maretus songs! :)
At the end you can hear a girl's voice in slow-motion very faintly
i’m so happy Maretu-san’s back 😚💖
_i am obviously obsessed Maretu's song this one is my favorite songs _
Answering the questions is an experience because at some point you realise that no matter what you pick there's always someone out there who would pick the opposite.
Me: well this is too happy this is boring
1:49:
Me: aggressive head nodding
i wonder if all of maretu's songs are like regurgitated childhood trauma or something
with how specific the stories they paint are
i just realised the jumble of words in the thumbnail looks like a japanese school
Shit ur right
Bc it is 😜

Post-traumatic stress growth is the ability to grow after a traumatic event. It’s basically asking if you think you can recover from any trauma you may have had/have in the future.

Side note: both life and death are spontaneous, that’s why i dont think either have meaning. “Meaning” requires intent but life and death dont always include intent. Life is what you make of it and death is an inevitable (i sound emo but thats what motivates me to improve)
imma answer the qna bisshes
1. No
2. Specifically? Not really, no.
3. Yup, I've almost fallen a few times.
4.No? What type of question is this-
5. Not all of them and it didn't show me nude, never showed it to anyone, so I guess technically?
6. N o
7. Nope.
8. Y e s
9. Nope
10. What the fuck, no.
11. Yes :') but it was an accident. I still felt bad he ripped up my drawing though :/
12. Nope.
13. No.
14. No, but I've had that Moloch stuff (don't know how to spell it, it's like the brown stuff on playgrounds) thrown at me lots of time, and that's pretty close.
15. Yes
16. Nope
17. God no-
18. Yes?
19. I think everyone has, yes.
20. I'm not sure what this means, but if they mean like talk about my troubles or something, no.
21. Yes. By the way if your thinking about committing suicide, don't do it. There's no good reason to. There is no reason to die or to live, and your gonna die anyway, so why not live your life even if it's shitty?
22. For some people. sure, maybe, but for me specifically? Not really.
23. Not really. Again, I'm not like famous or anything I'm just some irrelevant horror artist.
24. A habit? Not really. Do I sometimes? Yes.
25. I'm not sure what they mean by "group" but sure, I've been ignored by friend's or acquaintances because I do questionable things sometimes.
26. Yes.
27. Yes.
28. Not really sure what this means, but I guess no?
29. No, not really.
30. Yes.
31. Yeah.
32. To me? Not really. There's not really a meaning to death either, so I might aswell live.
33. Nope.
34. Yup. Except the assholes. The assholes can burn in hell.
35. Do they mean PTSD? I mean I might have it I don't know.
36. I've eaten a dead worm before, does that count?
37. The whole thing I think is sick.
35 basically means "do you have hope you can grow after trauma?" (I'm about 98% sure)
Mkay.
For number 4, sometimes bullies will spill milk or water or some other liquid on people.
edgy
the taste of worm 💀💀
I personally think this song is about a group of friends that bully one person in the group or basically act like they are friends with them but humiliate the victim while being "friends" with them. I personally had this too because my old friends from school would always talk shit about me and other stuff. Only like 2 people from the friend group were real friends.
I love how it just says NOOB in really big font
ᵐⁱˡᵏ
It feels like the drums could represent beating and the flute mocking 😮
3:46 ik there more than one thing it could be but to me it sounds like "The poor thing, i think he's sick."
i wonder what the ROT codes at 3:46 - 3:52 say... do they repeat the questions? do they say other things? ive tried to decode one but it dosent say anything, maybe only one of them is correct? or does it say "your perception is correct", like it says in the translation?
I answer yes for most of the question, should I worry ?---
3:38-4:14 best parts
