    Answers to FAQ’s
    Anal Glads
I clean the anal glands at the owners request. It is important that the dog itself express their anal glands. The anal gland is a muscle in the dog’s rectum and the more you manually do it the more you’re teaching the dog not to use it’s muscle. Honestly groomers really shouldn’t express anal glands. If the anal glands are compacted a vet should be doing it but if your dog is having issues with anal glands you should add fiber to the diet.
    Music
Unfortunately I can’t use the complete shop noise because we play music in the background that I can get copy written for so I have to drown out that music with something or no sounds at all. If I put in background music I can leave a little shop noise in. So, I will always add music unless it is not necessary to do so.
    “Roughness”
During the bath I speed up the time to trim the video shorter in length so, things may seem “rougher” than they actually are because what you’re watching is a bit distorted. Also, when you hear me firm with a dog it is to train them for safety reason so they do not get seriously injured now or in future grooming appointments.
    Scissors & Matting
I didn’t use scissors because they are way more dangerous than clippers. Clippers I can pull away quickly but shears are very sharp so if the dog moves I could’ve cut him/her really bad. Groomers are actually taught never to use shears to cut out a mat because it’s so dangerous. I’ve seen so many instances where people (owners and groomers) have cut dogs bad because they were trying to cut the mat out quick and actually cut the dog.
    Voiceovers
Voiceovers go hand in hand with the music. My viewers like to know what is going on and what tools I am using and why. We also like to discuss topics related to dogs so I will talk about that in my voiceovers. I will always do voiceovers unless it is not necessary to do so.
    Video Angles
I switch up my angles so that the majority gets a view they like. If you’re looking for a head mounted view that is typically Wednesdays or point of view could be Mondays or Fridays. Stationary camera view is either Mondays or Fridays
    Coddling Dogs/Puppies
I don’t coddle dogs during grooming because grooming is a serious matter dealing with sharp tools that can injure a dog greatly. If a dog or puppy is throwing a tantrum I will not stop to hold or comfort the dog because they don’t understand like we do. They consider that rewarding. So, by me “comforting” them during a tantrum or spastic moment, it is actually backfiring and training them that if they act up the groomer will stop and they will get what they want. Which is how dogs end up getting hurt during grooming and hating it. So, play time is for before or after grooming and never during.
    Assumptions
This final one is not a question but more of an assumption some people have. Some people assume, because I didn’t put it in the video, it didn’t happen. Just because you don’t see it doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. As groomers and editors, we cut out a lot of “unnecessary” content so what you are watching is NOT actually how the day went. So, if you have a question of whether or not something happened during the process that is NOT in this pinned comment, please feel free to ASK and NOT ASSUME.
    Shampoo/Conditioning
I do NOT use a lot of shampoo. The bottles that I use are mixing bottles and are predominantly water. I thoroughly wet the coat and scrub them really well which creates the nice lather so they are actually clean when I am finished.
    Ears
Yes I clean and pluck ears but only when necessary. If a dog has clean ears, there is no need. If a dog has matted ears and matted hair in the ear canal, I won’t pluck the ears if I have to shave the ears down to avoid hematomas. Yes I put cotton balls in the ears for certain dogs who are prone to ear infections and I use happy hoodies for senior dogs or noise sensitive dogs.
If you ask me something that is in this section, I will respond, refer to the pinned comment. Also, know I have very sarcastic humor and in general a sarcastic person (not in a bad or annoying way lol) so if you comment something sarcastic or smart mouth, I will reply with something sarcastic in return 🤣🤣
Thank you all for the constant love and support and I’ll catch you in the next video 🙏🏾❤️❤️

I love the length of hair the blade is leaving behind, still swarm, still fluffy, gorgeous wee 'sturdy furry legs'. That beautiful tail belongs on a horse altho it is part of Atticus' whole gorgeous look.(but oh the indignity of the canine Brazilian. He has a look that says if I ignore it know one will know I get my nether regions shaved.!). Love those ears. He just looks so handsome and well behaved. Great Groom as usual. Thank you for letting us see the very handsome Atticus.

After getting a rescue he was scratching and licking the entire first night. I took him to the vet and had him tested for allergies. Turned he was allergic to beef. potatoes, rice, etc. I adjusted his food and no more itching and scratching plus no more crusty skin. It is well worth the money to get your dog tested for allergies.

I feed my pack Science Diet Light with Dr. Marty’s freeze dried raw as a topper in the winter months.
I am convinced that many dogs are allergic to chicken.
One of my rather old Shih Tzu ladies has such bad allergies from grass season that she needs an allergy shot monthly plus an Apoquel pill daily.

I had a Cockapoo before they became fashionable and "designer" dogs. She did have yeast issues and I had to do a lot of upkeep especially her ears. Then I switched to good no grain foods and I'd wash her paws with a little vinegar added to water. Which help with the itching I've never heard of a vet saying she shouldn't listen to the groomer. The groomer is touching the dog all over and can see the skin problems when bathing. I'd switch the vet -

Great job also, some people believe any lay person or persons could not know more about their field. If you think about it your field and a vets field are in a way related. So please don't take it personal continue to do your job that you do so well. That client will come back to you to tell you the vet days her pet has yeast. Great music also.

Its funny people will criticize anything before understanding the whole picture of the situation the pet parent is in. What is there economic level, there own health issues, or family situation. I believe that all pet parents want what is best for there pets . They try there best to provide for there pet what ever there budget will allow. Education on all types pet food is important to the pet parent to be able to provide the type of food that fits all of requirements for the pet and the pet parents budget. It will be an unique choice for each individual pet person. My Sophie was adopted from Bucks county spca. They feed Purina one healthy weight for Sophie. She loves it . She is a senior . I adopted her when she was 7. She was found as a stray in lake Nockamixon state park in bucks county pa. I asked my vet what food do you think would be best for her and my budget. She said stay with what she on now she looks good and healthy. She is now 11 years old maybe more because the vet said when I adopted her a"around6-8 years so let's go with 7". She is doing very well on the food and it fits un to my budget along with her care plan for her wellness . This allows me to give the best I am able to. Great groom beautiful dog. I had a vet once that told my parents that we were not taking care of our Irish setter because he had a skin condition. My parents took him to another vet and this was back 1970s I was teen then . This is the I have now. She took one look at the dog and said" he needs two 🥚🥚 eggs brewer's yeast two tablespoons full. Mix it with his food and his skin condition will clear up." And it did. His hair never grew back in but he was no longer itchy. Some vets need to be just a little less judgemental and more proactive than reactive. Luv from bucks county 😁🐕

I think the vet is just not a good one. I've sent several clients to the vet for things I observe, and their vets are happy that I caught something the owner might not see and are very complimentary to me for sending them.

I am going to play devil's advocate here. Saying she was yelled at/scolded by her vet is second hand...if you were not there then stories can be exaggerated, and if it was as she described she needs to find another vet. You probably would not like it if the vet told the owner that a problem he found was caused by the groomer. I was a breeder, owner, exhibitor of show dogs, vet tech and professional groomer for over 40 years. You're talking about some of these issues bears truth, BUT you might want to be careful when suggesting advice about medical issues with your clients about their dogs...there is a fine line you are crossing, and it might come back to bite you--in a legal suit. Please be aware of this. Great job grooming this cutie. Thanks

Thank you so much and you are definitely correct, things can most definitely be exaggerated. The reason I was inclined to believe her is she isn’t the first person to come in the salon and complain about what the vet said to her and how she was treated. We see it so often in our are. Any time we (in the salon) notice something on a dog we recommend to take them to the vet. We don’t say we know exactly what it is because we are never sure we just say what we think it is and recommend a vet give them the final diagnosis. I’ve also had a vet blame one of my groomers for something on a dog that was visibly an old wound so we’re always careful or at least try our best to be but I definitely agree with you.
