It honestly is pretty crazy to think about when this came out. The Beatles last album came out that year, Rolling Stone's Let it Bleed came out just a year before, The Who's Tommy released in 1969 as well. This was an era that was initially dominated by these late 60s rockers like the bands I mentioned, and then suddenly this album comes out and changes everything.

Bill Ward is such a great dummer, he came from a jazzy background and had mostly Jazz drummers as his idols. He had more depth than most "rock" drummers and was used to more complex rhythms and changing tempo. Then there's Geezer Butler who really was laying down a great groove. On top came Tony Iommi, the riff master, with his down tuned guitar. And then there was Ozzy, who wasn't the world's best singer, not even close, but he was so charismatic and it just fit to the vibe they were going for

Not sure why you're talking about "standard 440 tuning", though. They didn't change the pitch of A, they stayed at 440 regardless which tuning Tony was playing in. "Standard E tuning" would've been the term you were looking for.

The thing I've always loved about this channel, is that I can listen to a song I've heard hundreds of times before, but listening and watching you makes it feel like the first time. Keep it up!

I love your reviews, guys! You recognize talent and applaud the qualities. You know the musicians and the commentaries are really enjoyable. I’ve never seen you slam anybody, and that’s very classy. Please keep putting these out because you really can teach old dogs some new tricks with your fun perspectives. Thank you!

This is the Sabbath songs that are important to hear:
Sabbath Bloody Sabbath (the riff that saved sabbath)
Symptom of the Universe (earliest ”thrash metal” song...)
    Children Of the Grave
    Snowblind

TX Rocker USA 1st I can’t imagine how extreme this was back in the late 60’s. I didn’t get into Sabbath until late in my metal journey, I screwed up because they put everyone to shame.

I'm 36 and my parents(55 and 56) were straight up with my brother and I. They told us about laying flat on the floor, making the room pitch black, smoking some weed and listening to sabbath and pink floyd. I'm so glad they told me about that. I never appreciate music more than when I throw on my headphones in a pitch black room and just listen.

That cover is straight up creepy
l remember finding hidden images and shit in it , I think it was just a gimmick, goat heads
I think there was an arm extending out of the house doing
      the horn symbol thing

"When you dropping that hip hop album Bill?" Lol For Real!!! Bill started as a jazz drummer and the jazz never left! Also a Tribe Called Quest sampled his groove from Behind the Wall of Sleep, also on this album

Bill Ward always said he played a jazz style of drumming while the band played.
