This is one of my favorite compositions/poems of all-time, the arrangement, guitars, subtle drums & saxophone, Sir Paul plays an amazing 12-string guitar that blows my mind everytime I hear it...Thank You Mr McCartney for writing such a beautiful song
And to think that song is just a teenie tiny example of his massive catalog. It's what earned him his rightful spot as most successful songwriter. He just has it.
Bluebird was the final encore of the Wings over America concert in the Kingdome in Seattle, 1976. I was at this concert 7 hours before it started to sell sodas to the line when I heard the beginning of 'Band on the Run'. I went down to the stage area and stood next to one other person watching Wings rehearse. That other person standing watching them was Geraldo Rivera. It was the best moment of my fandom life. When they were done with the warmup Linda grabbed a kid or two under her arms, they all sauntered off and I went back to selling sodas. But later, once they started playing I just sat and watched. I've seen some great concerts, but that was my favorite moment.
Oh, 1976. How I wish I could’ve experienced this myself. Paul and Linda together, John and George were still alive. The Fab Four, though separated, were all still in their musical prime.
John was definitely on a low, and Ringo's brief prime was already passed in 1973. George and especially Paul still kinda got it but arguably not in their respective prime
What a romantic fantasy was created here! Of course the lovely harmonies were always a part of Paul's M.O., and so nicely integrated here. His work on the 12 string guitar was a new one on me. I knew he was a bassist virtuoso, but was pleasantly surprised by his skill on the acoustic 12 string. If you watch the last chorus carefully, notice that the really high notes aren't hit by Linda, as she has already delivered her "Bluebird... ah-ah-ah" before the final echo of the same lyrics come through at a higher note. Must have been Denny Laine doing that in falsetto as Jimmy was not equipped with a microphone for the song.
Those harmonies at the end... Marvelous work. I covered this song solo for a open mic event in high school. All the girls loved it. Especially mine at the time. We're no longer together but this song is so amazong I had to come back. Good times.
I saw Paul in concert in Memphis last month. You won't be disappointed, Jeff! It was a dream come true for me, too. (He didn't sing "Bluebird" though.) The concert started 30 minutes late, but he sang for 3 hours straight with no break and did 3 encores. It will blow you away!
My favorite artist since I was 17 years old when a schoolmate did me the favor of introducing me to him musically....... And today I am 58 years old and he will always be my favorite
Thanks for this upload. I don't even remember how I ended up watching this song. Maybe something about birds brought me here. I never lookup or listen to Beatles song. But I loved this one & Free As A Bird! Beautiful songs!
Had the pleasure of meeting Denny Laine twice. He was so wonderful, and spoke kindly of Paul, Linda and Jimmy Mac. Spent the time to sign autos and pictures. My dad bought a beer for Denny’s band.
Is that some bitchin' 12 string or what? I didn't realize what a sweet voice Linda had-what a trouper, to be thrust in the spotlight, learn to play and sing and carry this off-an amazing woman:)
WHAT CAN I SAY ABOUT JAMES PAUL MCCARTNEY? I HAVE SEEN PAUL SO MANY TIMES .IM STILL AMAZED. I STILL HAVE MY BEATLE CARDS & BEATLE WALLET. PAUL JUST GETS BETTER WITH AGE. IF YOUVE NEVER SEEN PAUL, HE'S ON A WORLD TOUR. ITD SN EXPERIENCE YOU'LL NEVER 4GET. ITS MORE THAN A CONCERT. THIS IS HIS FINAL WORLD TOUR SO BUY A TICKET, YOU WONT REGRET IT. The saxophone line played by Casey was written by Paul.

One of Paul’s greatest solo songs. It moved me as a teenager in the 70’s.
He's mesmerizingly gifted, the band and harmonies are spectacular

Proof that Linda could actually sing.
Yes! She made synthesizer contributions too.
I hate when people say otherwise! She had a perfect voice to match Paul’s
Unlike yoko
Oh yes, She had a very nice voice. Miss her so much. Their voices blended beautifully.
