I'm not sure I've ever heard a fiddler with such amazing control over both double stops and the full length of the bow. This doesn't sound like a fiddler playing double stops - it truly sounds like two fiddles playing. Every note in every chord is perfectly balanced in volume and tuning.
Yes, Johnny was a wonderful man ,a gentleman as well as a great fiddle player. Could play great jazz as well but made his living playing country music. He played for Pensacola jazzfest a couple of times as well as other events when he was in our area. I counted him as good friend, also. Norman Vickers, Jazz Society of Pensacola 4 4 2022
