You’ve really become an expert on holding small things. 👍🏼
Damn you're quick, I was just thinking of how to word that 🤣
@@aweirdguynamedjeff I’m taking that as a big compliment cause you usually beat me to the line 😆🤣
@@aweirdguynamedjeff Doh!
Ouch 😂
🤣🤣
Good tips. You can also make a tapered arbor instead of threading. You can tap your part to be machined on to the arbor with a mallet until it locks, then tap it off when it's finished.
Thanks for making a video that was only as long as it needed to be. Good work.
One of my specialties is finishing quick 😂👍🏻
A kink I’ve used several times is using an internal snap ring in the chuck grooves to square up short pieces during the clamping process. A cheap assortment from Harbor Freight will cover a bunch of different sizes of stock, and bigger sizes are available in well stocked hardware stores. Cheap and dirty. Just the way I like it! Lol
You should make this a series and call it “Just the Tips With Austin.”
On it! 👍🏻
Great tips and tricks video. Keep up the great craftsmanship and hard work my friend. Keep turning. Keep making. God bless.
Thanks for checking out the video Jared!
As a woodworker who now has a metal mini-lathe coz 'why not' I appreciate you taking the time to share your work.
Stay safe and all the best from Australia.
Thanks Doc!
Great tips and clear examples!
Thanks for watching Dave!
So cool Austin!
Thanks for checking it out. Eventually I will convert you to a metal worker 😂👍🏻
ER40 collet chuck with a big set of collets... Best thing I've bought for my lathe so far. No more damaged threads holding bolts.
Thats a great tip. What made you go ER40 vs 5c or any of the other ER range?
@@HighCaliberCraftsman Larger work holding capability. I got an r8 er40 also for the mill along with er40 collet blocks for the vice. The chuck I stuck on lathe came off ebay. It has the adjustments to dial it in. Worth every penny. I need a Morse taper er40 holder for the tail stock and I'll be all set.👍😎
@@jagboy69 I gotcha! Nice to be able to use them on both machines!
I’ll have to remember this for whenever I get me a metal lathe lol nice tips tho Austin
Thanks for watching!
I missed all the tips because I was laughing at twisted twines comment too hard🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Gotta pay attention! 😂
If you can't be bothered with an arbor my trick is to use a bolt which part of it has no threads, one nut at the back and two at the front does the trick.
superglue is always earning its name
Ain't that the truth! Thanks for watching!
Will done . How to reach you
Do simple metal lathe technique?
