Hi RedWheel hope you are well. Thanks for sharing. Please stay safe.🏴😷😁. Hi everyone hope you are all well and safe to. Have a great day everyone
I'm a pretty notorious over tipper, however, I once paid for the meals of 8 people, just so that I could make sure that the server got a $0.05 tip. Why? Because we sat for an hour and a half before being asked for drink orders, another 45 minutes before he came back to get our food orders (we had to have someone go and get him) and then, when he came back for the food orders, he pulled up a chair, sat down, and told us about how badly he was hung over from drinking himself sick the night before. The restaurant was busy, but not *that* busy. He was just the worst server that I've ever dealt with. One of the people for whom I paid apparently went to the manager and got a voucher for a complementary meal on his next visit. Prick.
I really have to wonder about some drivers. Years ago, we were on vacation in Florida. And we had a lady really upset that there wasn't enough room between our truck and TRAILER for her to get in!
What annoys me on the highway? People who barely have a car length between them, when it should be a car length for every ten miles of speed. A ten-car pile-up waiting to happen!
We used to call it the 2 second rule here in UK. (Pick a roadside marker, a lamppost or a bridge for example, start counting as the car in front passes it, if you get ther before you hit 2 your too close
Because of the internet you are no longer isolated. That bartender's attitude display no longer affects just the patrons that were there that night. 20 people can view the events and are able to post their experiences so that thousands can read them.
I can relate to the crappy waitress story. My apprentice and I left the job site and headed to a steakhouse for lunch. We were bringing a building out of the ground and were both pretty dusty and dirty. We arrived at the steakhouse, went in, and were seated by a hostess. I quickly noticed we were the only ones in the restaurant wearing work clothes, everyone else was in suits, or white shirts and ties. Our waitress came over and took our drink and food order. She brought our drinks and totally disappeared. A kitchen runner brought out our food. No one checked on us again. We were close to the waitress station so I got up and refilled our drinks, two different times. We never received a check or could get our waitress's attention as she was too busy serving the suits. Greg, my apprentice, took two pennies and shined them with the aluminum foil off the baked potatoes. When I got to the cashier, I told her our waitress had never delivered our bill and we couldn't get her attention. The cashier asked what we had and charged me accordingly. Our waitress had made her way over to our table and was pissed when she found two shiny pennies on the table. She followed us outside cursing and screaming at us. We told her to F off and drove away.
The funny thing is I know of several people very well off and one who was outright rich as hell ( Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart ) who go around dressed casually or in work clothes and drive older model cars and pickups. Nice people but you didn't want to piss them off. You can guess why.

Cathy Slyter In the story about the bartender/waitress, she told the customers to leave and never come back after she saw what they left her for a tip. After the boss saw the online reviews, he fired her, which is basically a way of saying "You are fired, get out of this bar (building)."
The downside of having a harem? Dealing with yelling, complaining, nagging, and sharp tongues wagging! That general manager was too busy thinking with his privates before the blow-up happened! ROFLMAO!!

I try to leave a decent tip whenever I eat out and since COVID hit I've left larger than usual tips as I know people/places have been hurting. BUT, I will not eat where a tip is mandatory/part of the tab. Yes, I know that food service workers are paid less as tips are used to make up for it. However, I refuse to reward poor service. If tips are mandatory that tells staff they don't have to try to provide good service. While many perform well anyway there are those that don't and I won't have any part of it. Disagree if you must.
I'm with you 100%. I have always left good tips. Everybody has to make money to live. Before covid, we had specific places we liked to eat at and specific waitpersons we liked. We would call ahead to make sure they were working and asked to sit in their section. We have been able to meet some great people by doing this. Since covid, I do a lot of takeouts and have actually increased the tip amounts.
My first job was bussing tables. It was fairly hard work and I’ll pay was garbage. We were also treated poorly. When you know what kind of experience most servers have in the USA, if you can afford it, you tip well. We typically only go out to eat once every couple weeks. Three dollars extra on the tip is not going to make a difference to me but might to the server.
If they wanted to be paid, they'd work somewhere that paid them instead of begging for charity off of people who are already paying for service by buying the food.
@@Lycanthromancer1 You are lucky if taking a server's job is something that you don't have to settle for. For many people who are in high school or university, it's one of the few jobs that fits into your schedule, even if the pay is abysmal. I spent a lot of weekends crying on my off time because I didn't have the cash to go see movies and eat even at McD. And a boss telling me to wear a smaller shirt so my boobs would be more noticed so I might get more in tips. Male customers were already pretty hands on with a shirt that fit normally.
The dumbest thing, about the last story, is when you leave room between you & the car in front is that you can start up faster. I have idiots do this to me too. Traffic moves smoother when you leave more space & can start up as soon as the car in front of you does. Try leaving more space & find out how much smoother it is.
I agree but one problems I see in a traffic jam, is some asshole cutting in and out of traffic causing more people to hit the brakes. The more red lights you see the slower you go.
Omg, the first one. That GM is SERIOUSLY trying to create his own workplace harem?! That is very much a lawsuit waiting to happen, and a massively bad idea.
The reason so many people who are crap with others go into the service industry is because we live in a service based economy, and try as we might, we cannot all become doctors, lawyers, and astronauts. Someone has to flip burgers and serve tables and many places don't pay a living wage. Even if you're bad at socializing with others, shit pay will make you not even try. It's a vicious cycle of demoralization and reduction of effort.
Karen in the last story should be careful. Blaring your horn like that, in the wrong place in the wrong city, can earn you a bullet through your windshield!
I was in bumper to bumper traffic a couple of years ago. The car ahead of me left a car length between her and the semi ahead of her and I had about a half car length between her car and mine. Traffic was stalled -- no movement. Suddenly the semi started rolling backwards and eventually hit the woman's car and then pushing her car into mine. We were both blowing our horns but the semi driver was oblivious. Traffic started creaping along and then stopped again. Again the semi started rolling back into the ladies car again but stopped before she hit me again. The other lady and I tried to get the semi drivers attention to no avail. We both called 911 and about 10 minutes later a highway patrol car pulled up on far right on the roadside and signaled to the other lady and me to work our way over to the roadside which we did. Then he tried to get the semi drivers attention. It took quite awhile but eventually the semi pulled over as well, almost hitting another car. He denied the whole thing but eventually said it must be faulty breaks. He was ticketed. My insurance paid for the repair but I never got my deductible back because he later denied it and my insurance didn't want to fight it. Thanks AAA. :(
@8:15 "I don't understand why people who are crap with others go into the service industry." It must be nice to have your pick of jobs then turn a hobby into a revenue stream. Not everyone is so lucky. Not saying the bartender shouldn't have been nicer on the job, but the level of privilege displayed in this statement is mind-blowing.

We dont

The standard in the US is 15%. OP tips 20% because they are aware of how little wages servers and bar staff earn.
