+Joel Schembri CIA is behind the whole thing. Those so called leaders of the protestors were driven to US embassy every night and got trained in their. And they were taken to US before the military got involved. And those people are still live in US and paid by foundations supported by CIA. US thought it can bring down China as it did to the Soviet Union, but they weren't smart enough. They tried the same approach in Arabic several years ago. Look at what is currently happening in Syria and Egypt.
mobspeak I think that if I were going to be assaulted by the Chinese Communists Party's Army, I would have backed down earlier. by that i mean that all the protesters were pretty ballsy
TLA Gaming What I meant to say was, if only the ones today had such balls, I know it wasn't worded right. Indeed the ones who protested that day were brave as fuck.
I was born while this was happening. My dad says he remembers seeing it on the news while at the hospital. I'm kind of proud to have come into the world on a day when so many stood up for something so important. And for that reason alone, I will never forget it. I'll also make sure no one else does either.
Probably because it actually happened? Many people were taught that by their teachers/parents and they were surprised when they saw the longer video clip for the first time of their life.
Many people were run over by tanks and APC's during the protests, when they plowed their way through the crowds. Many more were shot or beaten to death. Many people outside of China confused "Tank Man" with one of those who were run over, or assumed that he suffered the same fate after hearing about it. Some soldiers defended the protestors, but they were quickly defeated. When the original soldiers sent in refused to harm the protestors, the government sent in another unit, one more elite and loyal to the communist regime. They were the one who did most of the killing. Soldiers fired automatic weapons into the crowds. There were even reports of soldiers raking apartment complexes with heavy machine gun fire. There was a report of tanks from different units fighting each other, and a damaged tank that was almost certainly hit by an antitank shell was seen being hauled from the site of the battle. Yes there may have been a small tank battle there... There were several reports of some soldiers defending the protestors, so maybe they died together, protecting them. That is very sad to me. The communist regime suppressed the death toll, which the Red Cross originally reported at over 2600.
Can you do a top 10 list of Hostage Situations? Stuff like: Moscow Theatre Siege Munich Massacre Sacramento Good Guys Alabama Bunker Manila Bus Hostage
It's so easy to find the full footage of the tank man yet you choose to cut it off and let the public interpret with their imagination on what happened next.
I saw the video. The man was pulled away by fellow Chinese and brought him across the street until cann't see them or out of the camera, I think mo more than five of them pulling hing away.
But showing the full video of tank man doesn't suit the narrative. Nor does showing photos and videos of all the dead PLA soldiers and burnt out tanks (some soldiers where set on fire inside the tanks and died), trucks and soldiers hanging from ropes off bridges from the 'peaceful' protesters. Now I'm no fan of the military nor the police but the narrative from the west has the smell of CIA operation to me. The story doesn't add up and US state department communication cables of the 1989 period said contrary to this videos narrative. Wikileaks also published a leaked document from the state department contrary to your western media narrative. China might handled it badly but its not clean cut the way its been propagandized by the west.
My mom went to China about eight years ago and asked her tour guide about this issue. The guide basically let her know in quick whispered words that she knew what happened but wasn't at liberty to discuss it. She was the only one who knew about it, since my mom quietly asked the rest of the guides. I know the censorship is as bad as that, I just can't understand how they manage to keep it up after all these years.
It's probably as a result of fear and the fact that the government has such tight control over the people. Still, I'm sure parents or grandparents of the generation know what happened and would tell their children about it. Then again, it could also be a fear and risk factor involved since children are likely to talk and one way or another it could get out. But with so many people and foreigners coming in and out all the time.. Same with the censorship, surely people would be suspicious of the censoring and how on one particular day, there would be extra measures to block specific word searches. Maybe they've just been so controlled their whole lives that they don't even question the actions of their government anymore. I wonder how the people react when they go to a different country and find out about this massacre and all the censorship. Would be pretty much life changing.
k...so what happens is that the chinese government were telling the people that the tiananmen square incident caused zero deaths and they killed anyone who told people the truth of what happened because they were "spreading rumors" and also the younger generations cant know about it because the older people are not allowed to talk about it...

True story, the bankers are fucking up their economy. Sooner or later they'll use the army against their own people, not sure about what happened in china though
Many people in China actually talk about it in a roundabout way, such as substitute the keywords with characters that sound the same but convey different meanings. It's their wildest dreams to hind such a shocking event from so many people.
The massacre had massive political impacts on china as a whole that extend to this day. 1. Tiananmen is the major reason so many countries do not provide china with military equipment, even to this day. 2. The massacre is the number one reason why Taiwan and China have not been unified, before the protests, Taiwan was considering unifying with China, but afterwards that changed. 3. The love for china in the west disappeared, before the massacre there was an obsession with everything Chinese, but afterwards that changed.
I was in China years ago and looked up on Tiananmen Square. In the West, the massacre is the first thing that pops up. In China, no mention of the massacre whatsoever.

Heres what my parents said, they're chinese. When the massacre happened in '89, the media told them that there was a rebellion, but only soldiers died. They didn't mention how students and protestors were massacred. It was only until they left China for Canada, that they found out about how many people died (nobody actually believed that the government did nothing, they just didn't know the scale of it). They also told me that it's true most people in China don't know about the massacre, and it's illegal to tell others about it. So let's say a mother's child was killed, nobody would believe her and her child would be forgotten. It really pisses me off, all this censoring. I think I might make a video of me telling my grandparents about this and see their reaction. My parents say they still don't know about it. Should I do it?

Do you know how many young PLA soldiers were killed in 1989 by so-called students? China was not smashed by the West like the Soviet Union. China has developed very rapidly in the last 30 years, which the West does not want to see.
@@j.g.l7524 you r right. After the HongKong occupied Central yellow umbrella protest here, i totally dont believe the main stream media, they are not report the real truth, they just report what they want u to feel and mind control, n make u angry with yr government n to collapse yr country! !! 4 june 1989, actually is many soldiers killed by students and who push those student to do that ?i think the whole world knows it after so many issue happened like ...libya, Iraq....
I first knew this event when I was 16. My high school chemistry teacher got pissed off by our 'gullibility' when she found out we didn't hand in our homework because of a inadvertent false message telling us not to do so from a student representative. She yelled at as and said, 'you kids are so naive and easy to deceive, if June 4th happened all over again you would all rush into the streets without knowing you were instigated'. Then I looked up on Google to find out what exactly June 4th means... It's so sad that people now know so little about it, I don't agree 100% on the way western media describe the incident, but I hate how government ban us from even discussing it.
In 1989, the US-led West funded the incitement of Chinese students to confront the government and tried to engage in a color revolution in China. Unfortunately, the conspiracy failed.
Do you know how many young PLA soldiers were killed in 1989 by so-called students? China was not smashed by the West like the Soviet Union. China has developed very rapidly in the last 30 years, which the West does not want to see.
I was 3 years old. My brother had just been born a few days prior. I remember seeing it at the hospital. However I do have the event to thank for me being raised in the US instead of China.
It's sad that when I was in middle school, one of my teachers showed the class the famous picture of the Tank Man, almost everyone made fun of the guy in the picture. Saying things like "That guys a dumb ass", "you know they ran his ass over" "he's stupid for that" and other things like that. I thought different knowing what he was doing was right. Them not knowing the impact that The Tank Man had left on the world.
This video is a wonderful and quick way to understand the Tiananmen Square Protests. 2 years ago, I produced a documentary on this interesting event for National History Day, so these facts definitely check out with me :D
This is happening again in Australia and most of Europe. Crazy how history repeats. I just last night looked up “Arab Spring” and what came about when authoritarian governments are overthrown by the people. All people forget what unification looks like and governments like it that way divided and week.

It was about orthodox Maoist students dissatisfied with reforms vs capitalist Dengists who were and still are in power. Not democracy vs dictatorship in the slightest.
It's actually quite strange, most of my friends, borned 80s 90s, all know about the incident, and they hardly remember where they read it from, I too forget where I first know it, coincidence? I think not~
For some background on the Tiananmen Square Protests, as well as the fallout and other interesting facts... subscribe to the always-entertaining but highly-informative RUclips channel: China Uncensored. LOL.... Taiwanese newspapers won't have anything that isn't "approved" news.... if you just want to listen to mainstream media and watch the puppet-theater, you'll never learn the full story. The same thing goes for mainstream media in the USA.
First, the Western version of the Tiananmen incident was a combination of 2 "half true." The student protest and the crackdown were 2 different event. The crackdown was never aimed at students. The student protest ended peacefully, all students in TS went home safely, not a single shot fired in TS. Wikileaks: no bloodshed inside Tiananmen Square The crackdown was to put down a worker riot happened 3 miles away from the TS. The mob has been killing unarmed soldiers in the dozens, many burned to death, and some hanged on flyover. Over 3,000 wounded soldiers, vehicle arson, even civilian death. It was the mob that triggered the crackdown. The mob burned over 1,000 vehicles. Throwing Molotov cocktails Unarmed soldiers burned to death. Soldiers are people with family Peaceful protest?? Soldier hanged on flyover These were the behaviors that triggered the crackdown. Do you see how ugly it is to skip this part of the story in the report? And combine it with the student protest. Some students and civilian FIGHT to save soldiers from the mob. This is why Deng Xiaoping crack down on the riot, NOT the Tiananmen Square protest, the Western media LIED. www.quora.com/Why-did-Deng-Xiaoping-crack-down-on-the-Tiananmen-Square-protests/answer/Michelle-Zhou-28?srid=Oxxo

Actually, your country's military was very good at killing PLA soldiers during the Korean War. I believe there was a battle where all troops were ordered to withdraw, but the Filipino military stayed anyways, and with just 1000 or so soldiers and one .50 M2 HMG, they fought off tens of thousands of PLA. There were piles of dead communists. I'm just glad you guys were on our side! MacArthur said something about if he had 20,000 Filipino soldiers, that he could take over the world! My grandfather was a paratrooper for the US Army in the Korean War, 187th ARCT. Now I live in Korea with my Korean wife and kids. They probably wouldn't even exist without the sacrifices made by the brave men and women who came here. Thank God for the support of everyone who defended democracy here in Korea and elsewhere. I wish it could've ended better in China...

Why do I remember being taught in school that the dude got ran over by the tank?
For some reason I have same memory, I can’t really trace where it came from. Apparently they call it the “Mandela Effect” or something like that.
Probably because it actually happened? Many people were taught that by their teachers/parents and they were surprised when they saw the longer video clip for the first time of their life.

Protest?!! It was a massacre!! We will never forget!
People tend to only like to call it a massacre if it happened in the past 4 years or resulted in a war.
@@poke548 a massacre is a murder of unarmed people
@@conorchambers3449 I was more being facetious.
WROOOONG! "Absolutely nothing happened there.

Never Forget. I am very surprised to see this channel talks about June 4th Massacre! Thank you.
In 1989, the US-led West funded the incitement of Chinese students to confront the government and tried to engage in a color revolution in China. Unfortunately, the conspiracy failed.

I was 3 years old. My brother had just been born a few days prior. I remember seeing it at the hospital.
However I do have the event to thank for me being raised in the US instead of China.
3:10 OH screw this, I just came over to buy some fireworks!
😂😂😂😂😂😂
today this incident is 30 years old …………🙏
Wdym? Nothing happened
1959: The music died
1989: The democracy died in China
'Tank Man' is a legend!
Nothing happened in Tiananmen Square on 1989
It's sad that when I was in middle school, one of my teachers showed the class the famous picture of the Tank Man, almost everyone made fun of the guy in the picture. Saying things like "That guys a dumb ass", "you know they ran his ass over" "he's stupid for that" and other things like that. I thought different knowing what he was doing was right. Them not knowing the impact that The Tank Man had left on the world.
did americans find Saddam Hussein's chemical weapons ?! it is the same story. wikileaks showed the messages of usa embassy.
he did not die for goodness sake! it was not the full video!
For some reason the algorithm keeps recommending me this now
lots of viewers from China doesn't even know what this is at all

Top fact: China rises to superpower after the crackdown of student protest in 1989
And those students protesters were given australian visas to study there as their payment
This video is a wonderful and quick way to understand the Tiananmen Square Protests. 2 years ago, I produced a documentary on this interesting event for National History Day, so these facts definitely check out with me :D
Top 5 facts about the battle of bullrun

This is happening again in Australia and most of Europe. Crazy how history repeats. I just last night looked up “Arab Spring” and what came about when authoritarian governments are overthrown by the people. All people forget what unification looks like and governments like it that way divided and week.
Fun fact:Nothing happened at Tianamen Square in 1989
That's the Truth, nothing happened inside Tienanmen Square.
Out side Tienanmen Square it's different story.
Hi Watchmojo!
Two items on a top five facts list are "no one knows" items, not really helpful.
watchmojo china be like: 1) nothing happened 2) take your meds 3) stop asking questions 4) -10000 credit score 5) your ip address as been traced and sent directly to xi jing ping
At least 3000 innocent people died. It was a peaceful protest where people were asking for what they deserve(d), all until the lights went out and the army shot dead everyone they could. NEVER forget Tienanmen.
how did you know it? because you were there?
Yes it's true that Chinese government doesn't want young men know what happened in 1989.But still many youngsters know Tiananmen Square
And 3/4 of them choose to defend their government
+StarlightX254 yes, this is true, but there are reasons for that, since they got few informational channel, and they don't know the truth. When the know the truth, their reaction will be very astonished, because they live in China where the publications and Internet were under CCP's control. Why I know this, because I got VPN,and I'm accessible to RUclips n Facebook
StarlightX254 and that's the best thing I have ever seen, therefore I have hope in this generation, they are reasonable, clever youngsters without the influence of western media's biased hateful fake news. Someday in the future, you'll find out how severely lied to you guys are. we'll see.
This video is not available in the following countries: China

Turmoil? thousands were slaughtered and you call it a turmoil? nice.
Some people have died from both sides, but there is no massacre...
this is why you don't ban guns
RussianGoldKing yeah, but you do know that tanks were there and bullets just scratch them
that image of the guy in front of the tank sends chills through my spine
He didn't die
Strange there is no video he was crushed since the camera is there for a long time already.
Hypnotize by System of a Down, anyone?
I am the victim of a Mandela effect right now because I remember that guy getting run over by those tanks on video
What are you talking about watchmojo? Nothing like this ever happened in China stop spreading slander with your fictional Hollywood special effects!!
lol

Anyone else remember Tank Man getting ran over?
He didn't get run over

haha
Hello beautiful
Why is this video covering something that never happened?
It was about orthodox Maoist students dissatisfied with reforms vs capitalist Dengists who were and still are in power. Not democracy vs dictatorship in the slightest.
This was way before my time…. Can’t say I know much about it…. But I don’t fully believe everything I read or watch on mainstream media anymore….
You just got banned in China ;)
This isn't the first banned worthy video they've made
Like they said, Google is baned in China, so they don't need to ban a RUclips video
It was just a joke btw.
Who's watching this in China with VPN
Long live the spirit in 1989 in Tiananmen Square!
It's actually quite strange, most of my friends, borned 80s 90s, all know about the incident, and they hardly remember where they read it from, I too forget where I first know it, coincidence? I think not~
The tank man was Jesus
I have seen the image of "tank man" before, but I never knew what it was about. Now I know.

Chris makes learning about China's politics, history, and culture incredibly funny and entertaining, with his satire and humor!
LOL.... Taiwanese newspapers won't have anything that isn't "approved" news.... if you just want to listen to mainstream media and watch the puppet-theater, you'll never learn the full story.
The same thing goes for mainstream media in the USA.
***** ... ahhh, I see.
Another thing: before the massacre happened, the government introduced open-door policy.
omg, it is like "freedom here!" protesters: "we want more!"
Can you please check the pronunciations before making a video about it
Best colour coup cure recipe:
1 Heavy armour
2 Live ammunition
First, the Western version of the Tiananmen incident was a combination of 2 "half true." The student protest and the crackdown were 2 different event. The crackdown was never aimed at students. The student protest ended peacefully, all students in TS went home safely, not a single shot fired in TS. Wikileaks: no bloodshed inside Tiananmen Square
The crackdown was to put down a worker riot happened 3 miles away from the TS. The mob has been killing unarmed soldiers in the dozens, many burned to death, and some hanged on flyover. Over 3,000 wounded soldiers, vehicle arson, even civilian death. It was the mob that triggered the crackdown.
The mob burned over 1,000 vehicles.
Throwing Molotov cocktails
Unarmed soldiers burned to death.
Soldiers are people with family
Peaceful protest??
Soldier hanged on flyover
These were the behaviors that triggered the crackdown.

Sounds like media covering for the government.
Like v for vendetta
Like cnn
Like resident evil
Lol protect the power structure at all costs damage control
Though it would destroy the non-violent feel of it, a couple of Molotov' would do the trick, take a couple of them with you.
Saitama is the tank man
Me
Obviously, he was carrying his groceries and was just trying to get back to his apartment lol
I often joke that the Tankman was my grandfather doing his groceries..........

Im so glad i was born in the Philippines, democratic country.
Lol good for you
Actually, your country's military was very good at killing PLA soldiers during the Korean War.
