Others seem to have added their own small corrections, so I'll add the complete list:
    1) The obvious one throughout the video is that the London Weekend franchises are all missed off.
    2) 0:04 - that "ABC" ATV logo was never used in the Midlands, it appeared for two weekends in London before a hasty name change to ATV, resulting in the unusual ATV "eyes" logo.
    3) the Midlands and North regions don't have the weekend counterpart mentioned (as London), and the North region is split far too early, leading some to believe that ABC served Yorkshire when it was ATV (weekdays)/ABC (weekends) in the Midlands and Granada (weekdays)/ABC (weekends) in the North.
    4) The Scottish TV region extends a bit too far North.
    5) Speaking of which the South Wales region also spreads too far North (or the other Welsh region is not spread far enough South if you see it that way).
    6) You haven't included the Grampian logo when it is easy enough to find on the internet.
    7) For some reason the Anglia region is split by a dividing line at 0:23
    8) Southern go colour far too early.
    9) 0:28 Yorkshire TV didn't launch in 1967 and the logo used was used before they officially took over as programme contractor for Yorkshire (and probably shouldn't be included).
    10) Tyne Tees' logo changes two years too early.
    11) 0:30 No sign of the Granada "two stripes" logo they used before introducing the "arrow G" in spring 1969.
    12) 0:32 Westward also go colour two years too early yet Granada, ATV and Yorkshire seem to still be in B&W. Border's logo also changes two years too early. Ulster's logo changes a year too early.
    13) That Anglia division now turns into a Yorkshire region division.
    14) 0:59 - the TSW letters are missing.
    15) 1:10 - the Central cake was actually first used in 1985, but only locally.
    16) 1:24 - the "Carltonised" Central logo for some reason makes a brief appearance three years early before reverting to the cake.
But apart from all that, excellent.

I should have added a box for LWT like I did with WHUT from Washington D.C on my upcoming PBS station timeline. Speaking of that upcoming timeline, it will have far more missing logos.

So was ATV in the midlands region was closer to London than it was thought?
So Looking at the map, London ITV region has only ever been within the now M25, not also including the English home counties too, was that right? So all this apparent ooh-ah about Elstree being London when ATV held the midlands contract after LWT took over the London weekend franchise was it really justified after all? Elstree's Hertfordshire, not London. And London's not Hertfordshire and Hertfordshire's not London in the same way London's not Essex and Essex's not London.
Border TV goes as far North as the southern outskirts of Glasgow it appears on the map.
And how close to Stirling did Grampian get? I saw some old transmitter information on youtube for the Grampian 9.25am startup saying that Perth was in the Grampian region, not the STV or Scottish region?

I guess the reason why the Yorkshire/Anglia region is shown as split is because it always has been. Different news bulletins/progs to the 'main part' of the region back in the Anglia days the same still today, sadly now just limited to news.

ITV wasn't national on day one? Learn something new every day. It looks like there are two identical YTV logos next to each other for much of the video. What's going on there? An oddly moving trip down memory lane - thanks.

Yorkshire TV from the Belmont transmitter was deemed as separate from that which came from the Emley Moor transmitter, due to regional differences. Yorkshire Television, 'East', was Lincolnshire and, for a while included Humberside, which had a separate newsroom from that coming from Leeds. It was, in effect, a region within a region.

Once the 21st century came along, all the ITV regions and their own individualistic uniqueness disappeared only to be replaced by homogenised, mediocre, bland nothingness of a faceless corporate brand.

    • @playus460
      @playus460 6 лет назад

Actually, what REALLY was some sort of homogenized, mediocre, and bland nothingness had been the pre-2002 identities. Just a shame Channels 4 and 5 didn’t learn from this mistake until 2004!
