Man, you made an awesome tutorial. I've been playing a tamer on outlands for the year I have been here and swapped to backstabber/mugger. I don't think I can play anything else now. So much fun. They wreck things, make more gold, and you get to watch other people get wrecked by reds while you hide and live. Thanks for the great guide! For anyone working their thieve's codex, try SSC mobs. I didn't know UO was still around until 2 days ago. I've always wanted to play it when it first came out. I convinced my mom to buy it for me and was so excited. Unfortunately, we didn't realize there was a month subscription, and we had to return it. Big Sad.😢 Anyway, as soon as I realized UO still had a community around it, I searched for rogue like build, and yours was the first one to show up. I knew instantly that this was the build I wanted to play. So I want to say thank you for putting in the vast amount of time & effort that it took to make the video. Hope to see you in-game. P.s. The beard is on point!
I'm definetely gonna try this, I love how much useful information this video have; I've been away from UO for too much time, and this video is helping me a lot. ty
You just got a new subber from Turkey mate. Its been decades the last time i played UO and, it seems, much have changed, in a good way. Was struggling to find a good build and a well-rounded guide for the beginners and you've been like a painkiller to my wound. Keep up the goood good job ;)
Legenis, this is the longest youtube video I've ever watched. and to see you put in the kind of effort you did is extraordinary. I've learned so much from this. I watched it throughout my day swapping to my phone if I was out and about. super video man. I'm brand new to uo. Thanks!
Man.... I got alot to learn on this game. Day 1 for me, I don't have much time to play games but I'm gonna play this. Guide is very nice, I appreciate it!
Great Video! We can train hiding and stealth in this dungeon. while skill 'hiding' < 80 useskill 'hiding' wait 10500 endwhile if not hidden useskill 'hiding' wft 500 endif wait 10000 while hidden useskill 'stealth' wft 10500 endwhile wait 10000 loop
Loved the video, really well done, ill admit i've watched this multiple times at this point. Just a point of note, you mentioned having issues with turning razor macros on and off between typing. Set the razor macro activation/deactivation key to Enter and you're good to go, when your chat box isnt active your macros are.
Just an FYI. There is a press enter to type and when you are typing, your hotkeys will not activate. It's in game options > Speech > Activate chat when hitting enter.
When you attack a monster from stealth at 1 tile range, it will perform a stealing attempt (if you have the correct stealing and snooping). This action is referred to in the thief's codex as Mugging.
As a month old player with Character ADD, I have 10 characters maxed to 720 in their roles, though I'm learning how to play them, working on aspects etc while trying to figure out which I enjoy playing the most. I've been enjoying my Poison/Backstabber and Poison/Necro the most so far. While I'm playing and leveling I love your long form content. They keep me in the UO mood while playing and learning various things at the same time. I'd love a long form Poison/Necro video as well as things like Crafting/Sales, Treasure Hunting, etc down the list. Big ask, but would be great. I'd also love a video showing the intricacies of PVP. It appears to be more like Script Wars than PVP in the sense that everyone just runs these crazy script sequences with leveled up toons against new players farming. These guys just run into dungeons and wipe the floor with everyone they see as though we are all made of butter. I want to learn and hunt these bastards down! :) Thanks man!
Hey man, kick ass job on this! I love the long form video. And the amount of detail and precision you put into it was incredibly helpful. I follow a lot of outlands streamers and I appreciate all their work but I gotta say, for someone that has only been on the shard for a week, this is the first video I’ve watched that didn’t leave me with more questions than I started with 🤣 Fantastic job, keep up the good work!
So, I had my little heart set on a tamer. However, information is ALL OVER THE PLACE. I found this video by accident. After the time you took to set up UI... I was hooked. Now my fledgling tamer is now a baby backstabber. Best information at one place!!
Awesome video! I followed everything you said and having a blast right now in Outlands, thank you! - Was completely lost when I created my first character. Quick question I've seen other backstab builds and wondering why you suggest 20 Alchemy - tried to see if you explained this but I can't find it. Once again thank you for you time in putting this together, greatly appreciate it.
If you go archery you can still steal from mobs on an attack you just have to be standing within 1 tile of the mob. After that you're free to attack at range again.
So I followed this but I played the thief a bit longer. Just started the back stab assassin today. I think you should of also said how to unlock dungeons and towns with camping. I did not know you can hike to dungeons and towns using it.
Hey mate, first of all I just want to say a big thanks for this video. Bloody hell, it's in depth! A couple of things. I've been following along and I hit the point where I'm now running the script for hiding/snooping etc so whilst that was running I watched the rest of the video to the end. I don't think I ever heard you mention Magery again once we left Shelter Island -- why did we level this? Why did we level Wrestling? Secondly once this script has levelled my skills am I right to assume that I just go stealing gold until I have the funds to buy the codex/runebook/halberd etc? Not criticisms mate, just questions that popped into my head when watching. This is honestly one of the best newbie videos I've seen for this game. I feel like I have a much better understanding of the game in general now that I just didn't have before. Top lad.
It is covered in the section 'How to play a thief'. Magery is used to heal and provide shields/cc when you are leveling your thiefs codex. You will be too weak to battle monsters until the codex is leveled and you are fully backstabbing. This was a happy medium to do before you transition into an assassin.
Amazing video! This was super helpful to me as a new player. All the UI setup and and leveling progression explanations really enabled me to start my own backstabber. I'm currently training it up. :) Can't wait to watch your other videos! Only thing I am missing is some gearing explanation. Weapons have been touched on briefly and I understand the weapon codexes are probably their own video. But what about armor types? I saw you wearing bone. So is leather the way to go? What happens if I pack something heavier? And if it should be leather, can it be normal/studded or should it be bone? I have no idea how the different armor types influence other factors in the game.
Hello! Firts of all thank you for your nice video! I begin to play on uo outlands 2 months ago. The build of your assassin always the same? Is it better archery or sword? And why snooping 14? Tracking 86 works? Thank you :)
I tried setting up a cool down for smokebombs like you had in the video, but it never triggers. I tried double clicking the smokebomb and also using [smokebomb but neither of them trigger since it doesn't look like using a smokebomb generates a system message (unless I have a setting that's messed up). It can be fixed by creating a macro in Razor saying [smokebomb and adding an overhead message of "smokebomb used" You can set that text to whatever since you're generating it.
that is correct, use a razor script to generate a system message or overhead message for the cooldown to use as a trigger. If I forgot to mention that in the video, that is a great catch!!
I missed something. why do you have 50 stealth as you start the thief script? I have 0 and the Outlands wiki says you need 80 hiding to even be able to stealth. Where did I screw up, Legenis?
Hi there, I started following your guide. Fist thank you! Can you tell me what option did you click to expand vendors shop menu? Like you I am seeing in your video at 1:42:00?
never shows how to set hide to stealth macros or really any thief or end game macros tbh could really use some help with that seems pretty important to the build
It's stronger. I don't play it as much anymore but was getting 10k backstabs with 20 bronze links. Very crazy!! I recommend dropping arms lore and maxxing item I'd in use with vanq mace
you auto mug when you are within 1 tile and stealthed. the sucess of stealing is determined by your stealing and snooping skill level (thief codex helps here) Link here: outlands.uorazorscripts.com/script/69c42c76-e920-4ccd-8ef3-6f3108d33b0a
