Yes, going to be no more slipping there on that chuck, only thing you need to do is drill a hole at the bottom end, to hang it up next to the chuck on the wall.
LOL.....and they call those chucks keyless, I have to use 2 spanners to tighten them, one for the spindle and one for the chuck.........give me a Jacobs chuck any day.
It measured 46.3 mm AF, so why cut the spanner at 46 mm. It should have been cut 47 mm wide, and so all that unnecessary hand filing would have been avoided.
I have one of those chucks on a drill press, been driving me nuts for ages. Going to mill some flats on it now and make a spanner. More robust and easier to make than a pin spanner, so you can whack it with a bbh (bl...y big 🔨).
I really don't understand why you don't use the holes and a C spanner, that's what those holes are for.

Why not simply use a keyed chuck? It holds in both directions and you wouldn't need to make a tool.
This is the right answer to all of the problems.👌
John I thought it was the law to put a bell end on all home made spanners?
Nice sponner ayr kid.
Plasma table working well John.

What? no bell end on the custom spanner John? 8^) Just joking, nice job.
John you're just going to misplace it, just use a shifting key.
Your file job finishing the chuck flats epitomizes craftsmanship. Or at least that's a good example. Thanks so much.
That'll stop it farting in church.

Well done John. Your plasma cutter has been a great addition to your shop.
as per brill
good effort!
I guess I'm not the only one that hates keyless chucks 😂
Just buy an albrech job done
Overpriced and overrated.
Always amazing to see plasma cutters cut through 10mm plate like its butter
That'll put an end to dropping taps. That plasma table is a major asset to your shop. Looks like another job well done John.
I wonder how many times that spanner will go missing lol
Nice work there John.

I really can't understand what the aversion to simply using or making a pin spanner is. A pin spanner is hardly complicated technology.
Thanks John
Good Sunday evening! Great to see the new dog, has a pretty coat. Looking forward to watching him grow. Enjoyed the jobs! Thanks.
