    One thing I would also incorporate is a lazy tether between the platform and my harness. You wouldn't want to watch you platform slide down the tree and get separated. I even incorporate this on my 2 piece climber. Accidents do happen and it's an easy solution.

      Yeah, I've never understood an emphasis on speed when setting up to hunt. I don't what method you're using. Regardless of your climbing equipment/method, just take your time and do it safely. As the old saying goes... "slow is smooth. smooth is fast"

    Someone please design and manufacture a small climber that both top and bottom sections fold in half that then unfold once you get to the tree you’re going to climb. A stand that meshes together perfectly flat, that weighs close to 5 pounds with silent rubber cables that can fit around average sized trees, has comfortable backpack straps, is silent and doesn’t squeak. Have a couple “knobs or attachment points “ where the stand can be attached to any backpack using a lashing strap or a couple of those rubber coated wire twists. Then once at hunting height the backpack, quiver, etc can be secured to the top climber portion using the same twists or buckle straps on the knobs or attachment points. Weight capacity of 350 pounds and costs $200 - $250 bucks. This set up, in my opinion, would be a game changer in mobile hunting. No sticks, no saddle, no extra equipment to maintain. I believe at that price range this stand would blow everything else out of the water. I think if solidly built and sold in quantity it would make someone a tremendous amount of money. Don’t get me wrong the LWCG crossover climber is awesome looking and it appears to work great but at $1000 the average hunter cannot afford it. There’s a certain target demographic that can justify buying it but the majority of hunters, in my humble opinion, can’t.

      This is a cool setup, I worry about trees that taper a lot. I ordered something last year from barren ridge that was kinda similar and that was the issue for me. No matter what tree, there was adjustments needed at the top. It is a great idea. And eventually they will or someone will make it better than it is now. I also moved on from my hand climber, added a lwcg .5 and a saddle setup so I can hybrid hunt. A lot more realistic for what I’m looking for. I know this will be great for some and bad for others. It’s just another tool that can be used. I may pick one up to try it out.

    • @ggcoutdoors
      @ggcoutdoors  7 месяцев назад +3

    Ever heard the old saying "slow and steady wins the race" ? Just Saturday while mid climb with my sticks I had 4 does come across and was able to swing over enough to put the tree between me and the does and not get seen. I'm sure you could finagle that with a platform too but I know with my old summit climber I would of been busted because your on opposite sides of the tree.

    I understand this was a timed event but I also don't see gore going slower would be any quieter. The climbing portion isn't controlled enough and just too loud. I love the concept but at less than 3 more lbs I can carry and climb as quick if not quicker and for sure a lot quieter with my summit.

  • @nudsh
    @nudsh 3 месяца назад +2

    Yeah, climbs fast on stripped trunks, but its noisy. I'll take another pound or two and sticks any day over the climber. Stick guy can climb easily around branches and knots, climb down any time to go take a remote leak, eat, take a mid-day break, go back to the truck if he forgot something and still have his rig sitting there on the tree ready to climb again, silently. So, this rig is pretty much useless in deep brush and on public land. Neat idea in a small number of circumstances, but certainly not a 'game changer'.

    The man with the sticks is extremely slow. Did you cam down immediately when reaching the top? It was hard to see from the video. It would be interesting to see a more realistic silent climb with someone who is more proficient with climbing sticks and or a one stick. A true exhibition climb has to be in an assumed scenario of dead silent woods in the dark with the hunter in complete stealth mode. Speed definitely takes a second place to stealth. Thanks for the video.

    Neat concept but…..poor example from both traditional and quick climber. Here’s why:
    1. The guy climbing with sticks is either purposely moving really slow, has too many fiddle factors, or just doesn’t know what he’s doing. Seems staged, like the democrats.
    2. No one doubts the speed of a climber to slide along moving up the tree; however, the climber will never be as stable as a traditional saddle platform especially standing/bracing at extreme angles on the left and right edges of that platform.
    3. My platform is attached to my 3rd stick and use the same aider as I go. I’m very light without a separate platform and no need for a 4th stick.
    4. While we all want to get into position as quickly as possible, safety is the key. The video doesn’t show the hunter stabilizing the quick climber nor standing on it at the edges to show stability.
