The best thing that can happen is losing to Georgia and having somebody not named bama go 11-1 or 12-0. Then they don’t have to play the SEC championship, they get to play the G5 team and, they get to play the 4 seed (either the Big 12 or ACC champion). That 5 seed seems to be an automatic semifinal bid
The thing that finally sold me on the hype and made me a True Believer in Nikko was when he said without bravado, that he prefers to play in Road games because of the challenge. The road has been the Achilles heel for the volunteers under coach h. This makes me think that we are in for a special season
I agree about 10-2 but what I am struggling with is the playoff picture. How many teams from the SEC make it in without the rest of the world being in an uproar about it. I think maybe 3 to 4 teams at the most, which puts us in a tough spot. If we lose to Georgia and Bama then those two are in assumed, then there are one to two spots for Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Missouri to fight for.
I still see the way these men are a team and that being said I can see an 11 win season. Iv never seen the team speak the way have about each other in years. I just think they have a full tank and can bring that heart to the table and make it happen
I'm at 10-2 and a couple of ways we may get there. It is possible we lose the OU game and beat Bama at home, while dropping the UGA game. A new QB gets better as the season goes on, the average one anyway but Nico appears much much better than average. He does not put the ball up trying to work seams or make something happen. Iowa game showed us this. The least likley way to get to 10-2 is losing to UF, beating OU, than going 1-1 against Bama and UGA. But I don't see 4 losses on this schedule unless somehow the sky falls and we forget how to coach, play and refuse to play the elite underclassman. I think we beat UF, OU and worst case scenario than is losing to both Bama and UGA. But i'm very close to 11-1 is we beat UF and OU. We could have a better recored than UGA or Bama when we play them. Those two teams play eachother early on and both will have played Texas by Oc 12th. So by than we should know how it's all shaping up. 75% 10-2 for me, 25% 11-1. But those odds for me go way up if we are undefeated going into that Bama game. 11-1 is 50/50 if we are in that situation.
Well said, good point. That week 4 and 5 on the road against OU and Arkansas just scare me though. I feel like we might stumble on one of those. Then we got Florida and who the hell know about that game at this point However This team is getting to a point to where our expectations should be high and rightfully so. For example in my opinion anything 8-4 or worse I consider that unacceptable. 9-3 or 10-2 seem very realistic to me.
@@88horrorfan Yep, I'm right where you are. But this year for the first time, we appear to have an offense that is at least on par with the 22 offense but with a much much deeper team than we had in 22. That team only had 64 scholarship players. This team has around 80, give or take, mainl give? I think the defense will redefine the term, "Here comes the boom". and get a lot of attention. While the offense remands more of the 24 TN baseball team vs the 22 Vol baseball team. More cerebral, less flash and a mindset of, we've done this before two years ago. As long as we stay true to our offensive scheme of Tempo Spread, go vertical more and accept that how we win games at times may be heavy run, or heavier pass. We hve to ignore the media that asks, "but can they pass the ball", especially after the Iowa game. Some people were asking that and my response was, "they didn't need to throw the ball and risk turnover to score points on the ground". Iowa tried many disgueses in seams to get Nico to put the bal up in traffic, but he never did and that is very unusual for any QB to do. Seniors fall for this and will in today's week 0 games. But for a Freshman to stay that true to the offensive scheme and resist doing that, was the most impressive thing Nico has showed me so far.
