always has been. when bands from niche genres write pop songs, they always seem to have that much more soul than anything from big produced "stars". Chemical by TDWP, Ultraviolet by Spiritbox are just two of countless examples of godlike pop songs by core bands. They just do it better.
Don't fool yourself. There is a lot of money in pop music. They know what they're doing. I saw a Jpop producer on RUclips and he heard a song one time and played it on piano. Most metal songs have terrible songwriting. Writing pop songs is much harder. Metal gets to make up for it with instruments.
@@Jordan-Ramses Not really. Pop music isn't hard to write. It is just hard to make it sound good and have the necessary hype and energy to go with it. Most pop on the radio just sounds like background noise because it doesn't stand out. J-Pop does suffer from this too, but not as bad as Western pop or K-Pop which takes heavy influence from Western pop. I remember talking with a friend of mine who is musician and was in a band with Jesper Stromblad of In Flames at one point say that the reason J-Pop has it's own unique style and sound is because apparently Japanese song writers like to use certain scales and melodic lines in a very unconventional fashion to the typical approach to writing pop or even rock music, but even then that was just what he observed. The point I was making is that a lot of Western pop artists who got their start in metal often turn out to be the best pop artists when they blow up. Post Malone is one such example of this and to a certain degree, while still falling under rock and metal, artists like BMTH, Sleep Token, and Ghost write excellent sounding pop music and not just irritating ear worms that, while catchy, aren't being catchy in a good way. As for most metal songs having terrible songwriting, I have to disagree. Sure, for every big or moderately successful band there are a lot of poor imitators or failed clones out there, but to say that the genre just relies on the instruments or heaviness is not true. Most metal is well written. It's just your average person cannot handle complex song structures or music that gives off intense emotions that jumpstart your adrenaline. I know people who think even a basic song like Nothing Else Matters by Metallica is too intense for them and they would rather listen to an Ariana Grande song any day.
@@AnimetalViking I learned something interesting about 'ear worms'. I am like you. I don't like them. I heard Thrift Shop by MacLemore and I had that darn song stuck in my head for 3 days. It was terrible. But. That is great songwriting. If you want to write a popular song. A lot of people love that. I actually love it in a foreign language because it doesn't get stuck in my head. Or not annoyingly so. It's having the same words repeat over and over that annoys me. That doesn't happen with Japanese songs. I've been listening to a ton of Vocaloid that has super catchy songs in Japanese and I love it. The words don't get stuck in my head because I don't speak Japanese.
the look of pure enjoyment on GC's face listening to this song is one of the best parts of this song because that is pretty much everyone listening to this.
3:09 The first harsh is EC. The SECOND harsh there is actually Momo from Babymetal. Yes, BM has a harsh vocalist now. She's also the ONLY one doing harsh during the "Everybody" calls at the end of the song, when the camera is following her.

Babymetal attended an Electric Callboy show last year in Boston and met EC backstage. They probably got talking then and decided to make a song together. They performed Ratatata live twice last weekend at FOX_FEST in Tokyo. I was there for it and it went off so unbelievably hard.
And at that stage Babymetal had the concepts for their lean producton already in place. One Corona Production was Ok, one help for a friend also but then they had "We might have something to offer."
This song is amazing & great collaboration, i never see all member of baby metal singing together, i'm so hype listening this song and the breakdown so sick for me i love this song so fucking much yeah 👏🤘🔥🔥
If I recalled correctly it was EC who reach out to Baby Metal. And yes it was a 50/50 collaboration. Maybe you have luck regarding the copyright bs. The song is distributed of the label of EC,.
Great reaction, that was good to watch you just enjoying yourself.😂 You were absolutely right, they have clearly stated this was a straight 50/50 collaboration between both bands ... and it has to be the song for this summer, its just fun start to finish. Shame about your copyright issues with BABYMETAL in the past. Amuse (their agency) seems to have relaxed on that front more recently for the most part ... and if you were interested or curious about more of their own songs there are a couple of channels with good live videos that should be safe to use. Check the channel 'For The Fox God' for example - and pick any song - maybe 'Divine Attack' would be a good one as it was the first single in advance of the album they released last year.
I've seen and hear a lot of people saying how much FUN this song is and I couldn't agree more. You all remember fun, right? This song reminds me so much of that fun, 90s techno beat. Love it.
It's just such a fun song by two fun metal bands, but initially I was kinda skeptical how they were gonna match them together. Needless to say the transition between the different parts is perfect. I'm hoping to see Babymetal in Japan next year and hopefully this banger will be played too!
To your questions about how it happened, BM went to an EC show in Boston and met them backstage, apparently that’s when the idea was born! Also Nico commented on a German RUclipsr’s channel that it was 50:50. Loved your react as always!
Great to see you back on Babymetal. Luckily, Babymetal has become a lot better with copyright in recent years, when we've seen problems with this video it wasn't Amuse, it's from the Callboy side
IIRC BABYMETAL's record label gets really pissy if the image of the band takes up too much of your screen while you are watching as well as not pausing enough. You might want to try making them take up less screen real estate and pause more and see if more songs don't get through. Plenty of other reactors seem to get them out somehow! Great reaction and best of luck with record labels!

Gotta appreciate when bands actually collaborate and don't have useless short "features" of the other band. That's my beef with FIR using so little of Alex Terrible on Ronald. If you are gonna feature another band or musician, do it right. Give them more than under 30 seconds
Ec is probably the worst parody of metal I’ve ever witnessed…hate them so much 😂 but it’s impressive how much they’re loved in the community Interesting to see how taste can differ
