TUDDENHAM - The tiny village close to base (Summer 2020 Village Tour)

  • Spent the day in Tuddenham. There was not much to see. What we did see was beautiful and well kept. Probably a great little village to live in if you're stationed here. Not to far from a town with groceries and not too far from either base (Lakenheath or Mildenhall).
We are trying to see as many villages and towns as possible. Some, there is almost too much to put into a video, and like this little guy... Almost not enough to make a video.
We did find one very interesting fact about Tuddenham and that is the old pathway that cuts through town. People have been using that "road" since before the Romans came over. THAT's INSANE!

And you’ve provided proof that it doesn’t always rain here! 😉

I grew up in #37. The house you’re taking your sunnies off in front of is Glenn’s house. He’s a hairdresser. My house is to the left. The people who used to live in the house you’re in front of in that scene were Pard and Reg. They’d probably been there since the 20s at least. The last time I was in the UK was just before Covid and I peed in that house. I know the owners. Former post man and his wife was my babysitter.
    Anyway, surreal but thank you.
    Just remember, Tudd, like Rudd.

In addition to the swank Mill, there’s that really nice friendly pub (The White Hart) as well as a garden shop with a lovely cafe with good food. Just off the road to Cavenham are the remains of a WW2 (American) airbase. The Cavenham Heath, accessed via Tuddenham, makes a lovely spring walk. The church, in even smaller Cavenham, is unique in that you can still see traces of some very old and rare church wall paintings. (Plus the church is said to be haunted.) I hope things open up soon so you can do more exploring (and take us with you.) Love revisiting all these places through your videos. Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for sharing our country viewed through your eyes. It has a beauty which I often either take for granted or tend to overlook when concentrating on daily issues. You have also provided very useful pre posting info for US personnel about to be stationed over here.

You look right at home here Abby.....
Easy to forget, when applauding the video capture, is that there is another, secret person, here too!
You are very fortunate to be in one of the most beautiful parts of the country, and could be forgiven until seeing bad stuff on the news etc,
for thinking that everything was just wonderful!
Same here on "The Vale Of York".....a historic town, unspoilt {largely) villages, stately homes and beautiful countryside......

You picked a nice day for it. Showing that Mildenhall and Lakenheath are nearby, Tuddenham had its own airfield the skies round there were very congested in wartime. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RAF_Tuddenham

Ive noticed that most Americans pronounce the H in places like BuckingHAM... BirminhgHAM...TuddenHAM..... Clearly this is because they are not familiar with the English pronunciations. So just for future reference it is generally pronounced BuckingUM... BirmingUM..etc..etc 🙂👍

unfortunately when we went, it was still all shut down due to the COVID situation. We couldn't even get into the parking lot. Hopefully we will be able to check it out soon.
