    When I was starting out 15 years ago, a wise Italian gentleman with a rediculous collection told me:
    "Buy the most special car you can truly afford" So don't buy mass produced cars less than 15 years old. In my small collection, I own a 1999 Lamborghini Diablo Roadster (1 of 142) and a 2005 Ford GT (despite making 4,000 of these, they were instant blue chip collectable cars right from the start).
    I personally think Glenn made a mistake (and told him so) selling a pretty damn special 993TT for the highest production McLaren ever. So there is a difference between buying a whiz bang new exotic and a collection worthy car.

    • @GlennsCarCollection
      @GlennsCarCollection  4 года назад

      True. My 993TT doubled in value so I felt it was time to sell. I bought it very cheap 6-7 years ago. Eventually those cars need $20k engine rebuilds and I don't think the car would go up another $20k. If anything the air cooled market seems to be falling since it went up so fast.

      I don’t have expensive manufactured cars. I have cars I built. I have a rat rod. It’s a 1946 ford 1ton on a 2004 Lincoln towncar frame with a 5 speed tranny and a big block in it I also have a lowered c10 1974 purple with under glow and duramax in it they were hard to build because I had to custom fit everthing

    Starting a collection of my own, got a low mileage 2006 SRT8 Jeep and a low mileage 2004 SVT Lightning. Hardest part for me is daily driving something I don’t find interesting!

    Would you be able to make a video diving deeper into exactly how you were able to get the most profit off each car? I know you went a little in depth here but I think a lot of us would watch entire video on the process.

    Great video... looking to start my own collection next year, was torn between buying 76 Leyland Mini and a 98 BMW 740i
    I don't actually ever want to sell them, though.... any advice for a 25 year old looking to emulate Jay Leno?

    My mini car collection:- BMW e39 M5, BMW z3m s54 coupe (both BMWs featured on Jayemm's channel), Alfa Romeo 156 Sportswagon manual, Maserati 3200 GT Assetto Corsa manual, Toyota MR2 spyder, Hyundai Coupe mk2 (Tiburon I think it was called in North America). Overall not expensive really but all have their purpose.

    Great video! Very easy to understand unlike other videos like this on youtube.
    I do have a couple questions though.
    1. Are all the cars in the beginning of the video in your collection?
    2. If the answer is yes to question one, could you name all of them?
    3. If question one is yes, IS THE FIRST ONE A LEGIT MCLAREN F1?
    4. what type of storage do you use for your collection, and how do you manage all the car keys?
    Thanks so much, and once again, GREAT VID!!!

      Hi Peebles. The first car in the video is a Porsche Carrera GT. The intro is made up of clips from car review videos on the channel, including my personal collection. About half of the vehicles in the beginning are mine, Mclaren 570s, NSX, E46 M3, etc. I rent a warehouse to store my cars. Check out my playlist called Long Term Reviews of My Cars and you can see which ones I currently own. Hope that answers your question.

    I have been in love with cars since I was a little kid. I’m a young man and I just graduated high school. I’ve been thinking about buying a BMW Z8 in the future 7 years down the road and they are always going up in price. I have a 1965 Ford Mustang Coupe with a 200 6-cylinder in it and it’s going up in price. I also want a 87-88 Ford Mustang gt with a 5.0 V8 in it. Are these good cars to invest in? I love classic cars. I plans to have like 70 cars in my collection in the future.

    • @GlennsCarCollection
      @GlennsCarCollection  4 года назад

      I think Mustangs have a strong following and the ones you mentioned can be future investments. You will need to buy ones with clean histories in stock form.

    Besides the money, it’s the time! I’ve had 4 street cars (plus a race car) at times and it was pretty time consuming. It’s not just getting work or maintenance done but the research time and shopping etc... You also have kids and a job (usually😁) and I wonder how you have time to deal with them all, right work, do this RUclips and thing and still have quality time for your family?

    • @GlennsCarCollection
      @GlennsCarCollection  4 года назад +2

      Yep. I have a real busy day, every day. I do my editing very early in the morning or very late at night when everyone is asleep. I get the kids involved in the cars, filming, etc.

    Is it ok to buy an auto 2014 CTS V Wagon or am I being dumb and I should wait for a manual to come on the market?

      to appreciate in value you will need the manual. For a fun daily, auto is fine

    Glenn how do you factor in insurance and registration into the costs?

    • @GlennsCarCollection
      @GlennsCarCollection  4 года назад

      Great question. Registration is cheap here in Jersey. It goes by the weight of the car and mine are on the light side. Lots of ways to save money on insurance. Here the weather is only good 6 months a year. You can insure your sports cars for 6 months a year, shop around for insurance, big difference in premiums. You can raise limits on collision etc. if you can afford to do so.

    Bought a 92’ 3000GT VR4 for $3,600 last year. Car didn’t run cause it sat and I invested a bit of cash and now it’s running flawlessly. Not a spot of rust/rot on the car. Thinking of selling it to get another unique Car. Trying to work my way up to getting higher valued gems that will go up in value.

    love your input in this channel plz keep up.
    2 questions want to seek your opinion
    1) 981 GT4 do you think will raise in value over time?
    2) with the massive amount of e92 m3 production, "lower" milage 2010 or 2011 model will it up in value over time as well?

    • @nick_e46m34
      @nick_e46m34 4 года назад +2

      Gabriel Mak I would say yes to your second question. Especially a ZCP, rare color, 6-speed manual, CF roof, non-nav example. I'm starting to look for one of those as well to add next to my e46 m3

    • @touringteg
      @touringteg 4 года назад +2

      I like the e92 m3 6psd cf roof cars. Last of the NA V8. Manuals also fading away so manual holds better value. A friend just bought a comp 6spd recently with 41km and it sold fast and was basically a bidding war. I have been watching the gt4 market and they continue to slowly deprecate. GT cars hold value really well but the new one is also NA manual and faster which makes the older version just older. I love the GT4 especially red but I don’t see a reason for them to go up in value. Eventually when NA manual is impossible to find they could start climbing.

    • @gabrielmak4423
      @gabrielmak4423 4 года назад

      my thoughts is the m3 DCT is a better driving experience than the manual because each shifts with the manual feels very rubbery. Regarding GT4 I do not know the market view, but I do know the 981 production will be lower than 718 GT4 due to Porsche was initially testing water. Also the 981 GT4 motor was in competition use, and to be frank it sounded a lot better

    • @GlennsCarCollection
      @GlennsCarCollection  4 года назад +2

      No, I think the 981 GT4 will drop now with the release of the 718 GT4. E92 M3 manual, low mileage and 100% stock will go up in value. DCT will probably hold value and might go up slightly if manual E92's go through the roof

    Hi Glenn tell me what do you think about BMW M6 E63 2006? I am thinking to buy one. It has 95000km? First owner i can give him BMWM3 E46 with 185000km whit CSL look. I am from europe i love E46 and i whant one with loww km.

      I like it a lot. Get a good pre-purchase inspection. They can be very expensive to repair and keep money aside to keep maintaining it. I always wanted one but I was afraid to buy one because expensive repairs can ruin any investment

  • @touringteg

    Great video Glenn. I am thinking about adding an ITR to my 1M but I am not a fan of all the expenses of a collection. It’s funny because these are all drivers cars which beg to be driven so they often have mileage. Yet buyers all want the lower mileage examples which are hard to find. I just buy drivers and try to buy at an appropriate price so they still increase in value.

    • @GlennsCarCollection
      @GlennsCarCollection  4 года назад +1

      Great strategy. That's what I did with the 993 Turbo, higher mileage and still doubled in value

    Hi Glenn,
    I currently have a 2000 S2000 with 45k miles on it.
    It is all original with clean Carfax and all VINs.
    I know they are going up in value, but I am getting to the point where I am itching for something new.
    Here are some options, would love to hear your thoughts.
    Older:
    NA1 NSX with MT
    996 Turbo
    997.2 C2 with MT
    C6 Z06 Carbon Edition
    New:
    MKV Supra if they introduce MT
    M2 Competition with MT
    Runner ups:
    RC-F for its V8, reliability and looks
    Potentially a Challenger widebody with MT (not sure if Scat Pack or Hellcat)
    Thanks,
    Boris

    • @GlennsCarCollection
      @GlennsCarCollection  4 года назад

      do you like new cars or older cars. Performance or fun to drive. If older, NSX MT or 997.2 CS. Newer M2 Comp MT. I have a video of the RC-F and M2 Comp on the channel. RC-F is a luxury daily with a great engine. It's not a sports car and will feel heavy if you are used to the S2000. Challenger widebody will feel like a boat to you

      996tt was my dream car and after having a 40th AE 996 C2, I got that turbo. The AWD system kills the fun so was going to get a 997.1 C2S or 997.2 C2. After a few test drives I went back to another 996 40th ae.

      @@GlennsCarCollection Funny, I just bought an S2000. It's a good debate... I've driven both several time and thought I would like the e46 better since it has more power and hydraulic steering, but the s2000 is very visceral. I picked it mostly because it's more reliable... but after owning it for some time I may argue its a more fun car to drive. Got an ap1 and that 9000rpm redline is addictive.
