OMG SAME!! I need to discover the clarinet channel equivalent to JustAnotherFlutist. JustAnotherClarinetist. Almost makes you wish Joanna could review Clarinets like this.
I've been playing the TJ Cantabile for seven years now and I am still in love with it. Now that I'm actually majoring in music in college it's time for me to get a new flute, but I highly recommend this one as kind of an advanced student flute :)
@@JiJiRUclips yes! Although I must admit I haven't played mine for a few years now and it definitely needs some maintenance. Even so it still sounds okay, and I'm sure it'd be great if I got it looked at and put back into shape first 😊
I purchased the Cantabile for College as my Haynes was beyond repair. My lessons teacher fell in LOVE with my flute to the point she purchased one herself as a back up to her Yamaha! Ive only had to send it in for "repairs" for an extremely minor adjustment and I have had it for 7 years. 😊 A great flute choice!
I tried out a Trevor James today (I ended up getting it) and as soon as I played it I knew it was right for me, it felt like it was a part of me and I love it so much.
I absolutely love my Trevor James Virtuoso. Out of all the flutes I tried it had the smoothest and most graceful mechanism, pure tone and a graceful feminine overall feel that really works for my style. It is particularly responsive and has a beautiful flow.
These reviews are so satisfying, it feels like IM the one getting a new flute and trying it out. The funny thing is I'm in percussion and can only play the B flat scale on the flute. You're just so entertaining, yet informative... I LOVE IT. ❤️
I've never tried their flutes but I heard good things about them and I did try a Trevor James head joint once. The head joint was silver with a wooden lip plate and a wooden crown ( grenadilla wood that is). I also heard good things about their Alto flutes😃❤️🎹🎼
I bought a TJ Cantibile III about 10 years ago and I loved it. I still do, but I didn't realise at that time that my fingers were quite acidic, which eventually ate away at the silver plating. While I don't actively play anymore, I definitely feel that I've outgrown the flute, but it was definitely a great option as a step-up flute. Biggest shocker is that they redesigned the joints. My model had this very distinct chiseled joint rings, but looking at this video, they switched to a much smoother ring design.
If possible, I would love to see you do a review on a single TJ model flute and then switch the head joints. Some of the TJ flutes have the option to own both head joints but I would love to hear your ideas and thoughts on both. PS- Love your videos!
Thank you! I've always wondered what this flute sounded like. So, I think I will try it as well as the Haynes when I go back to my local music store. You are amazing!
Wow, I never knew that flutes go up that high in price. The flute that my parents bought me back in the 90s have about 12 years on it and then we bought it for $125 and I use it throughout the school. I guess it's time to upgrade. 😀 It is amazing on what I've learn from watching your channel and this is the first time that I'm on it. Thanks!
Hey Joanna, I would love some tips on where to learn about music history and the different stiles changing through the eras. You always tell us to be informed about that stuff and I would love to, but just don't know where to find it in the Internet.
I get so nervous watching you play so close to those cabinets on your left! 😮 great review though! I have a few friends who play Trevor James flutes, and they love them!
Hi Joanna!! I asked you an advice some time go. I'm slowly getting more relaxed playing in concerts and exams, so thank you very much, you helped me a lot:)👍
Im late to this party but... I just saw a TJ Privilege on fluteworld's website and was intrigued. Im just a hobbyist so that one sounds like it would be good for simple ole me, and the price isn't bad either. I've only ever played old school band instruments, lol. Nice review.
Heyy right now I'm using TJ Cantabile III and now I'll get a better flute but I was thinking about getting Sankyo 401 #11935 or Muramatsu GX Model #103096. Maybe you can do your next review on those flutes😊
I’m on somebody else’s account but that’s actually my name Trevor James and I actually chose the flute because it’s my name and I thought it would be easy also you got to trust me on this if it’s your first time playing the flute I learned that the flute is the hardest instrument to play right off the bat
unfortunately, flute center of New York prices tend to be a little steep in comparison to other sellers, if you are looking to by these flutes don't be alarmed by the prices found here. I would suggest doing a bit more research to find better prices as I did. (I would highly recommend the cantabile by the way, its a stunning flute)
I disagree ; the difference is that most internet purchased flutes are set up in a factory in Taiwan not necessarily by flautists in your country of purchase , and thus , may not have been set up to optimise the instrument's playability . Then there is the servicing which you will usually get free for the flutes first service PLUS if you don't get on with the flute , you can't usually send it back if you've bought it on line . I too bought a Cantabile and I haven't fallen in love with it at all - so the specialist shop has agreed to replace it - and doesn't even want to charge me the difference - where on the internet are you going to get service like that ?!
Che Bella Joanna, Brava! Question? Do you get hassled or pulled aside by TSA when going thru the checkpoint with the Flute or Piccolo in your carryon luggage or you carrying bag at the airport? Jo
I have a TJ alto and have been considering adding one of these models to my collection so this was timely. OAN...Do you have any videos reviewing wood headjoints?
Hello, I am trying to find an intermediate flute that won't break the bank. I was think about a new Gemeinhardt 3OB or a used Gemeinhardt 3SHB. I have no idea if I want to get either because I have heard mixed reviews about both of them. Could you possibly point me in the right direction for an intermediate flute because I have been back and fourth on about 6 different flutes
If you're looking at the AZ2, see if you can't find a second hand Altus 807 or 907. They're nearly identical in the specs, but the Altus is handmade. I had the AZ2 and moved to the 907 and the difference was, for me, astronomical. I also paid less for the Altus.
A seller on ebay called angelsflute. They're a fantastic repair tech who only sells flutes that are brought back to like new condition. They're from Japan, but the flutes sold in the US are shipped from California so you don't have to pay duties or customs. www.ebay.com/usr/angelsflute?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2754
I wish there was a clarinetist who reviewed clarinets like this. Your videos are nicely done.

Totally not important, but that purple velvet inside the case is so pretty!
I just purchased a Trevor James Virtuoso, and I love it!

I have a cantabile, I bought it about 10 years ago and have never had a problem with it. Never really felt the need to upgrade it.

What is the general reputation of Trevor James flutes vs Pearl vs Yamaha, in step-up flutes?
Trevor James Virtuoso player here. I love my TJ 💙

My favorite time each month 😛
Just another flute reviews are the best
I've been waiting for this review for months.. I already use trevor james privilege before :D
The way you described the privilege it sounds perfect for me
I got my first piccolo!!!! I'm so excited but so nervous 😊
hailey s It's fun! But wear earplugs and learn alternative fingerings, it will help lots.
Megan Lin thanks so much I appreciate it I love to have people I can relate to 😊
Other flutist may or may not discriminate you. I was discriminated because everyone feared me TT
hailey s But it's fun, and you will be in love. Well I am anyway...
Somewhat early 😂 and when you said switching from clarinet or oboe I almost died bc that is literally me (subscribed btw 😊)
Woohoo!!! Welcome to the family! :D
No dislikes? Thank goodness for reasonable people!
I get so nervous watching you play so close to those cabinets on your left! 😮 great review though! I have a few friends who play Trevor James flutes, and they love them!
thank you for including how to do the trial!! i was confused for a bit 😂
Sometimes when you begin talking I'm grateful for the advance mode, nothing personal .
Hi Joanna!! I asked you an advice some time go. I'm slowly getting more relaxed playing in concerts and exams, so thank you very much, you helped me a lot:)👍
OMG, that's awesome, I'm so glad I was of help!!! You rock!!

Great video as always! Can you review The Trevor James Alto Flute? I have seen flutists everywhere talking about it!
Woohoo, I was waiting for a Trevor James review! :)

Karyn Gardner didn't charge you the difference?? :O
I'm curious what you think of the Berhnard Hammig Flutes - I have one and it's amazing for me, but I have not heard many testimonials for it.
Che Bella Joanna, Brava! Question? Do you get hassled or pulled aside by TSA when going thru the checkpoint with the Flute or Piccolo in your carryon luggage or you carrying bag at the airport? Jo
Have the Cantabile III - wish I had bought the Azumi A2/Z2E as I'm struggling to decide if the Cantabile sounds any better than my 40 year old TJ 10 .
OMG purple velvet case I love it
I have a TJ alto and have been considering adding one of these models to my collection so this was timely. OAN...Do you have any videos reviewing wood headjoints?
I haven't reviewed wooden headjoints yet! I've only ever played with them at flute festivals :3
I know I'm late, but did you do the TJ Recital range?
I'm late but.... what do you call a musical fish? a TUNE-a
😂😂😂😂
The Tabletop Mage 😂😂😂WOW

Hunter B. 338 Try them all out! Each flutist plays differently
beautiful Flutes Joanna
How do you compare these to the Copper?
Can you please review those unbranded flutes on eBay that have like a b footjoint???🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
I am buying a piccolo for school band. Do you recommend wood over metal?
The InMine For marching, go for metal. In my opinion, wood sounds better
Megan Lin ok thx
Try both out. It's up to you
Can you review the Miyazawa MJ-101?
What is the Gizmo?

Haley Anderson yes
