    Would just to say thankyou for making these videos available, changed my clutch today (first time ever :D )and followed it as much as I could. Apart from an issue with a rounded off bolt on the gear and clutch assembly mount that I had to cut off and extract later, it all went seamlessly. The only other problem was getting it back in, it took me laying underneath the car and 2 old guys I borrowed from houses on my street hauling on ropes to finally get it in place.
    I was going to say "jesus, this guy must work out a lot" but then I realised if you are pushing big lumps of weight like that around every day you probably don't need to.
    You make it look a lot easier than it is.

Luckily have not needed to do the clutch on this but at 70K miles it is possible it will need one at some point. Very glad to have found your video and HUGE respect for doing what youy do so efficiently under conditions like that.

      I used to be in a vineyard. It would be 5C then the wind would come then it would start raining. I have a heated jacket with a cordless drill battery to power it. I would turn that on. But your hands can start to jam up even with cotton gloves on and rubber over that. I used to wish I could get heated gloves and apparently they have them in America.

      My "garage/workshop" has 3 walls, but no doors in the front! Reasonable for a carport, but really lousy for a garage! Meaning that on a -18C Winter day tend to be "not pleasant", to keep it mild. There's the choice of putting appropriate clothes, gloves and so on. But then you can't move! Or be more agile but can't stand more than half an hour without going inside and get warmer! BTW The wind makes a decent swirl precisely where the workbench is located. Not fun! LOL 😂 ;-)

    I applaud you Kevin, I am currently doing my clutch on my 107 and this video has helped alot, but boy is it hard work even on such a simple car! and having the right tools for the job is essential, the video makes it look simple and quick which just goes to show how skilful you are, I've hit a few snags along the way so my car is still on axle stands while parts are on order!
    Thanks for taking the time to make great content ;-) this is the one and only time I will be doing my own clutch replacement, really thinking i'm 20 years younger has done me no favours.

      @@WMCScheers Kevin, Ah its nothing much, two of the Castle nuts spigots broke off from the control arm ball joints and I found it impossible to source a new one, a scrap yard is probably the only option, then I realised the ball joint seal had a small split in it so decided to order a set of new control arms to be sure all would be ok, then there were the drop links that are perished and need replacing, also noticed the brake discs were worn and the pads were also getting on the low side, it's turned out to be an expensive job but handy in a way that I can tackle it myself......just! Brakes are not a problem but removing the gearbox was certainly a challenge, I've yet to get it back in place which I imagine will be worse than taking it off, well for me anyway, I ain't the fittest of blokes for sure, but I hate being beaten so it will get done one way or another though I underestimated the level of difficulty given my age and health issues......you're a task master Kevin and produce great content with excellent camera angles etc. THANKYOU.
      Oh what I'd give for a decent impact driver, impact sockets and that all important universal joint!

    Hi Kevin. curious to know why you use red rubber grease to lube up your clutch work jobs,this seems a strange choice to me.
    Also having watched three of your videos now,l have yet to see you change a pilot bearing. l know most clutch kits only come as three piece items is this the reason?
    Next week i will change a Jeep Wrangler YJ 4.0 1995 clutch ,the kit comes with a pilot bearing and an alignment tool.
    Do you only change the pilot bearing when you find them damaged,or if in a supplied kit would you change them at extra time and cost?

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 года назад

      Hi Colin.
      Red rubber grease stops oxidisation .,, so the bolts won’t seize up .,, on the spline is where it matters the most as a lot of friction plate through moisture builds up dry rust and binds the clutch causing premature wear .,, rubber grease doesn’t disintegrate so will always keep the plate moving freely.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 года назад

      We don’t really have pilot bearing here. We keep it simple .,, and if it does have it then it’s built in the flywheel.,,

    Hello, I like to thank you for this video, I have done this job yesterday, good to know how to remove the drive shaft. Thist video is the best in points of howto do and detail picture. All people have to think about how narrow this car is, and you made top qualety video. Very impressive how you put on the gearbox. Greetings from Germany, Volker

    hello, what type of degreaser you use in your sprayer (Acetone?) and can you please give me a link for the solvent resistant sprayer. Thank you I love your work.

    • @mrgrumpy5116
      @mrgrumpy5116 4 года назад

      I hope it's not acetone .. don't want that in your lungs, all these cleaners are bad for the health, I know it's a problem keep having to use H&S approved protection for things like this but if your lungs have rotted away before you get to 60 you're not going to have a fun retirement are you.

    Very informative. Thanks for sharing! Pity no speech. But you get the idea. Those gloves you wear seemed robust. Where did you get them from? Nice to see you wearing correct P.P.E

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 года назад +1

      Correct PPE always comes first.... especially working with clutch dust.
      It’s more of a visual video rather than vocal... apparently a picture can say a thousand words 😊... Gloves are orange nitrale from body gloves ...

    So many smaller cars in England. Here in Australia we have the suzuki centrino/alto and the kia picanto and I suppose the ford ecosport mini SUV as the only 1.0 litre engine cars here and I think the first 2 are the only 3 cylinder ones. Never got the hyundai i10 and things like this little Peugeot. I think it's because many of us do freeway driving and quite a few do high mileage like myself. 50 thousand kilometers a year.

    • @WMCS
      @WMCS  4 года назад

      Link Knight they’re great for little city run around. And a lot of younger drivers go for them I suppose it’s to do with insurance cost.
      That’s quite a bit of mileage you’re doing there. What vehicle do you drive.
      I only average about 60,000miles a year ....so oil and filter change every end of the month goes without a miss.
