“Let’s fire it up “ is an old armt term I remember from the’70s !!! Love your videos, I have learned a lot. Thanks
Thanks for watching!
The thumb-tightening technique: so logical, so practical, and without you I would probably never have come up with that. Thank you David.
Thanks friend!
Relax about the background noise. We realize you're not in a studio. You're coming thru loud and clear!
That mullein is looking happy.
I’m proud of it. I haven’t done anything to it, no watering, pruning, nor supporting. It’s growing beautifully.
I made my first bow drill friction fire last month with a fatwood bearing block.
That's a really good advice 👍
Excellent!
That's amazing 100% humidity and you got the amber.
Sir , just an amazing video. I am new to finding fatwood but I’m learning from your videos. Thank you!
Awesome, thank you!
Hello RUclips Creator, looks like a good job for saw and dogwood wedge
It is! for sure!
You’ve done a good job selling out the Smith Sharpeners. Three Walmarts and they are all gone. 😂
I’ll keep looking.
My WalMart had several last month.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge Mr. West!! Another great video!!👍🏿💯❤️🇺🇸
My pleasure!
I just came in from outside. I was messing around with a Surger Maple and Box Elder sets. It's really difficult in this high humidity and heat we've been having. Even on the best of days, with a maple set, you have to be careful that you don't cook the dust up before an ember forms.
Yes, it’s a problem with all hardwoods.
Hi David! I have no doubt that you will get considerable use from this new bearing block based on the use you received from the old one.
Truely, TY!
i've yet to find any fatwood in the wild, very nice spot you have plenty.
Yes, thanks!
Your video showed up on my watch list at a very relevant time! I’ve been practicing lately and it’s always the bearing block that gives me the most trouble. I have a box full of fat wood in my garage and never thought to try it.
Yep, when the heat melts it, it becomes a great lubricant.
@@DavidWestBgood2ppl I haven’t tried it yet but that’s interesting. I would imagine it being sticky. Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
@@DavidWestBgood2ppljust tried it and worked great! Especially like pre drilling three divots that came in handy.
An excellent informative demonstration❤❤🔪✨✨🔥🥇
Thank you kindly!
Good video David, thanks for sharing YAH bless !
Love the content. Keep it up.
great idea!!!
Fire master.🔥👍
I enjoy it.
Great video Mr west 👍👌🔥
Appreciate it!
I tried a bow drill fire today with a set made of willow. I got lots of smoke but no ignition. The dust was very large in graduals and course. Do you think maybe I’m using too much pressure? I ended up boring a hole through the fire board. I’ll try again tomorrow.
Willow is supposed to be great. Yes, too much pressure.
I didn't see any stones in your bearing block playlist. I remember talking to a fella that claimed to have found a few that were made by natives of some kind up in Arkansas. Don't know how much validity there is to his claims, I didn't get to see any either. I sure would like to see it though, any input you might have in the topic
I haven't used one... yet.
Does it work just as well if you saw a cross-sectional piece like a puck and use the end grain for a bearing block?
Yes and no. Works, but wears down too fast.
@@DavidWestBgood2ppl okay.
Hope you and your family are doing well.
What is the material that you are using to catch the powder/ember?
Black leather.
