I have nothing against Mahlkönig but this video gives me the feeling of an uncommented (very long) commercial. I would like to hear some hard facts concerning retention etc. Nevertheless I like your work and thank you for the effort you put in it.
Yes he was a very polished sales person and of course, they won't tell you the things wrong about it. Hopefully as my channel grows, I can get some loans of these machines so I can do a more in-depth reviews. 🤞🤞 Just have to hit 10k subs before I'm taken more seriously. I'm working hard at it! 😅
I have the ek43t, I make a cup of high-quality espresso. I think the new model is not the same. The size of the grinding gear is ek43 98mm x 54 54mm. I'm waiting for it to be officially released so I can try it. Thank you for the coverage. Best barista grinder in the world, ek43t.
I just got an X54 from Mahlkonig for review, I'll have a video about it on my channel soon and I'm going to try to go into as much detail as I can. What I can say right now after using it for a week is that I'm actually really liking it for espresso, I haven't done a lot of filter brewing with it yet but I haven't been too impressed with it for pour over. It's really well built, it's fairly quiet, and of course it's Mahlkonig quality, however I don't think coffee nerds and super home enthusiasts are going love it. The other thing about it is that it's 54mm burrs which aren't super popular so there isn't a ton of aftermarket support for upgraded burrs if you wanted them.
@@Rydecoffeecoach hahaha The truth was after I taught him that his breville grinder wasn’t going fine enough his wife had no say 😆 we basically saved his machine “e61” rocket His wife said well you saved us buying a new machine so he could get it 🤣
@@Rydecoffeecoach Kafetak is a monster in terms of durability with their full stainless body instead of the typical aluminium. However, P100 does have the modern looks. Result-wise, they are both the highest clarity grinder in the market but horrible retention. You have to mod them. Anyways, you can also get forgiving super light roast espresso shots from them.
Thanks! Well, the price point is much better and I'm not as sold on the Niche as a lot of people (I'm a Weber workshops Key guy) so I'd say it's not as good as the Niche. I am probably more excited for the grind by weight grinder.
X54 has plastic gears for the grind setting dial. This wears down kver time, and over time this grinder cant keep its grind size! USELESS for espresso after a while! Terrible design!!!
Who would have ever thought grinding coffee would be so complicated.

Yes I think the x54 is not a replacement for the ek43.

Yes you've got some great videos on your channel. Awesome work man! 🙌 I don't think the x54 will be a game changer but still a solid device.
@@Rydecoffeecoach thanks man! I actually just got done filming my X54 vid!!!
Good friend of mine has an EK43 in his house 😂 makes incredible coffee!
How did he manage to get that in past his partner? No way my wife let's that in! 😂😂

Hey Ryd, you should try Lagom P100 and Kafetak flat max as well
Oh yeh I love the Lagoms, haven't had anything to do with the kafetak but it seems really good (albeit lacking in design aesthetic)

Nice machine Ryd
Niche Zero comparison?

it's a cheap grinder it made for drip coffee its easy to use and to buy. EK43 is a better for Espresso coffees wheelchair larry
No an ek43 is an ek43 for home use.
I dont think any mahlkonig is for home use
Does anyone like the ek43s for home? I kinda like the idea but maybe it's still too bulky?
😅😜
@@Rydecoffeecoach I say EK43 is a bit on the bad side on home use as you have to re-align the burrs a few times a year.
@@Rydecoffeecoach i like mine
2g retention annnnnd I'm out
It isn't 2g (is that what he said?) It's 0.1-0.2g
@Urbino237 Ah yeh, the guy said 2g but I think he meant to say .2g because it definitely shouldn't be that much.

Thanks for sharing that info. That seems like a bit of an issue but can you replace the gears?
