- Where does your coffee machine rank? If you're buying a coffee machine for the first time this is the video you need to watch.
You requested this video so I collected all the most popular coffee machines for beginners that were put forward and ranked them from best to worst.
Which machine will end up on top? Which is my all-time most hated coffee machine?
Of course, remember these are all my opinions and you might disagree with some of them. Heck, you might disagree with all of them. Pop a comment below and let me hear your thoughts.
And if people are interested enough, I'll do an intermediate and advanced version but for now, as always, Enjoy your brew!

About me:
I am super passionate about coffee and educating people on all aspects of this amazing drink. I love bringing the stories back from the other side of the world about how they grow and process the coffee differently on each farm, in each region, and in each country. I also love helping baristas around the world make better coffee for themselves, whether they're at home, professional, competitors or even just venturing out into the wide world of coffee.
Hells yea! The Profitec Go is the one I purchased! Can't wait to get it in 4 days to pair it with my DF64 Gen 2 grinder!
That's my setup. Had it for a month now and loving it.
I got the go a week ago, combo with DF54 grinder. Both Black.
Would love to see this type of video for grinders, thank you!
Yes please this type of for grinder
Good video, thanks! You talk about the Rancilio Silvia but the price and picture shown are of the Silvia Pro X. Quite a difference there, and possibly a different score between the 2?!
Whoops I didn't pick up on that! Thanks! 🙌🙏
Fantastic compilation Ryde; thank you. Keep the concept going. As an aside, my only quibble with manufacturers promoting their HX machines as being capable of simultaneously pulling a shot and steaming milk is - for most of us home brewers - "What's the hurry?" I am not running a snazzy café (like yours) with 150+ customers/day and need to put one on the counter every 32 seconds. Thoughts?
Great video!
What do you think of the ECM?
I own a Lelit Mara X and Just got a Profitec Go in brushed stainless steel. Awesome machine
I got a Micra as my first machine. Kept on bidding myself up… anyway, I like it.
Maybe I just don't mind tinkering as much as the average person, but the Gaggia Classic Pro was my first espresso machine, and I still use it today. I'm only now thinking about upgrading to a Lelit Mara X four years later. I have never had a problem with the Gaggia, and I immediately made upgrades to it. Before I even pulled a shot, I changed out the OPV spring to make sure it was brewing at 9 bar, changed out the super hard plastic o-ring in the group head for a silicone one, upgraded to a precision shower screen, and bought a bottomless portafilter and 20g IMS basket. Maybe it's difficult to dial in a shot without all the upgrades, but I've never had a problem, and it was a great machine to learn on. Not to mention that I think the new ones come out of the box brewing at 9 bar now. I was even considering getting a PID or Gaggiuino mod for it, but now that I'm upgrading my grinder from a Baratza Sette 270 to a Zerno Z1, I figure I should just upgrade my machine as well.
What do you think about the Ascaso Steel Duo Plus? I’m kinda stuck between that, the Mara X, and the Profitec Go.
It's really excellent
Got the Barista pro lacteally for 500euros, worth to change it for Profitec Go? I do have a DF64 Gen 2 grinder on the side though already :P
Wait, since when does heat exchanger mean you can pull shots and steam milk at the same time? I thought it meant that you specifically couldn't do that.
it's one of the benefits of a heat exchanger. It's because the water is being boiled for the steam and has a tube going through the middle that heats the cold water up as it's travels up to the group head.
A single boiler can't do both simultaneously.
What makes you feel the Rancilio Silvia is so hard to play with to get great espresso ? Do you have any tips or video to help us using this machine ?
I know the Rocket TCA Apartamento is not for beginners, but I would love to see it in your next list.
Please, please do the same for your second or third machines. Time to upgrade. Oh, that means I need a better grinder too.
I have my second Sunbeam Cafe series. EMM 7200. Good for the price, but have some reliability issues with the latest model.
Yes, this is a great idea for a video, and this guy really nailed it. 👍
Great video!
I have a bambino and wondering what to replace it with when it eventually breaks.
Want a ‘real’ espresso machine but don’t fancy 30min warm up times and big wait times between milk and espresso temps.
I love my Profitec Go.
I was considering a Lelit, but how is their after sales service at the moment?
Recently, I've heard from a number of coffee machine sales outlets/companies (as well as some online reporting) that Lelit are 'slow' on parts and service items (either backorder or generally not very helpful) - this could be Lelit themselves or their local distributor (both here in Aust and o/seas based on some reports).
Well, Lelit is now owned by Breville so they will be slower but probably get more guarantees if things go wrong.
What about de Breville Batista Touch? For an $800 USD
I don't have the Legato/Apex/Gemilai but I really like the idea of the machine. I tend to prefer espresso produced on boiler machines, idk why, but that thermoblock for steaming is so convenient.
As for the Stilosa, I wish they would have taken an ECP variant and put a steam wand on it rather than this. The ECP you can add an IMS shower screen, for example and mods and parts are more available.
Here in Spain the Prosumer machines are a better value than in the US. For example, an Anna PID is about the same price as a Bambino...Breville/Sage machines here are quite expensive, comparatively.
Nice list, thank you for sharing.
Have you tryed Quickmill Pop Up?
Zero actual reasons given for the F ranking of the ninja. I don’t own one, but it is made specifically for beginners. All the coffee snobs on Reddit also don’t want give it any credit. A handful of reviews actually put it up against some well established brands are very impressed with how well it performs.
DeLonghi Dedica really should be in the F tier alongside its big brother the Specialista. That thing is such a piece of junk. On the other hand, I hope the Meraki proves itself to be a quality product. It looks like its got all the tools to help people learn to make great espresso.
Yeh I probably should have bumped it down but because it's so cheap it escaped the Fail tier. The Specialista is almost disrespectful though as the grinder can't even function properly and the convoluted "features" made me actually angry and they don't even make it cheap! 😅
The Dedica is cheap, easy to repair and relative thermperaturstable, more stable than the Bambino, see Kaffeemacher. So the Dedica 885 with the proper steamwand should be an A.
@@GoetzimRegen as a former owner of that piece of garbage, hard disagree.
For very low budget go for the Delonghi stilosa! Incredible for the price... Just get a good unpressurized bottomless porta and you're good to go
You gave a better grade to the crappy hibrew than to excellent gaggia
Better stick to watery pour over
my top 2 machines for purchase are in your S tier 😃
That's my machine Mara X in Black :)
Great video. I ordered the Profitec Go yesterday.
bahhh blasphemy that the mighty Gaggia Classic Pro is put onto C tier, easily the only only machine that doe snot need a warranty that has the best build quality, the easiest to repair and get parts for if that is ever needed and the one machine that is the easiest to upgrade to provided results far superior than anything on this list.
The new gaggia classic pro e24 comes with brass boiler. Improved temperature stability & steam power. Definitely A tier for the price!
Lelit Elizabeth better then units you put on S
The profitec go is "cheap?" lol
Its ok for what it gives, you can find it now for 780euros Black Friday deal. I think i will order one these days.
Cheap as chips
