Thank you for reviewing this ... I was looking into the GE Opal because it looks good and is a huge hit. Who, doesn't want nugget ice. However, with the price tag I wasn't a fan. I went with this ice maker due to the pics, videos and reviews. After watching your review I am glad I made the right choice.
Is this still a solid ice maker??
Is it suitable with 220v ?
Just got my Wamife. It may produce ice that's close to the Opal, but I don't think it's nearly the same as the Scotsman. I just want an ice maker that makes the kind of ice that allows liquid to easily pass through its porous structure. The Wamife gets closer to that ideal, but it's still a solid cylindrical shape (albeit with with a few grooves cut into it from the worm screw). -I also consider the fact that it cannot automatically restart the ice making process once the ice interrupts the IR sensor at the top. My previous 44lb NewAir could do that and it meant I never had to worry about my ice turning into a puddle over time on a hot day. Just set it and forget it. My conceptually perfect nugget ice maker would combine the features of both brands to automatically stop both when the water reservoir goes empty -*-AND-*- when the ice bucket gets full.-
Update: I just got home after leaving the machine running in the morning and it seems to have started back up on its own. The conceptually perfect nugget ice maker is a reality!
I just got my Wamife nugget ice maker yesterday and got it up and running today. I bought it partially because of your positive comments about it. Mine makes a constant clicking/ticking noise while it makes ice. I just wanted to know if you've experienced the same "issue"? Other than that, it's great so far.
Our is still working great! We have the clicking/ticking as well as it makes ice. Once it's full we don't have any noise. It's been great, especially with the summer heat.
@@kiwigirl2686 is yours loud when you first turn it on? Mine is, it's loud for about the first 30 minutes after turning it on and then it gets a bit quieter. Also, I think the clicking/ticking noise stopped.
@@THEE_BRZRKR Yes, when we have cleaned it and also first plug it in, it can be loud. At times while it's making the ice it tends to be loud. However, it makes the perfect ice. I figure for half the cost of the other nugget ice maker, I can deal with some noise lol.
I don’t recognize any specific noise. Even side by side with my Opal. They’re basically the same sound. It might be that I’m used to both and they both make the same noise.
