They make it look so easy.
Usually a bridge pilot takes you through the bridge and hire craft must use him. Private boats can take themselves through and as they do it often, make it look easy.

I thought the same exact thing. Cruise liner Captains are far more experienced than these guys are and no cruise liner is going through that thing no matter how great u are.

Aim at the center and gun it. If you crash, get a smaller boat. Repeat until successful.

The trick is, you want to go slow. That way you have less control. It also allows the wind and current to push you around. They are your friends, let them do the work. It uses less fuel.

I thought it might be more like someone pushing down on the boat, not the typical smartway of building your boat to fit

Nice to see the white mafia still in attendance there. Found it amusing how they would cruise up and down past the berthed boats, then as soon as they saw curtains twitching they'd bang on the hulls with their beaks until you fed them a couple of slices of bread!!

Having a boat that fits is really more of a requirement than being professional, mine barely fits under the last little red iron bridge on the Bure before it becomes the Yare so matter how professional you are you're not getting near Potter Heigham let alone under it. :D

Be really cool if you had any footage of a few boats being handled poorly and careening into the side of the bridge? Or maybe too tall to fit under?

    • @NewnameSameme

Hire craft need the help of the bridge pilot and private owners can navigate it themselves or use the pilot if they prefer.

sportster1988 First thing I tough of as well. Road beds pretty much stay in place. Between tides and rain water run off that bridge must be interesting.
