Thank you Grace for featuring this beautiful ,strong and graceful lady. I wish her and all other special needs parents the best of everything they need to carry on with God’s good work of stewarding our special angels. Just to point out, there is no known definite cause of autism and other issues on this spectrum. And it is a broad one. It is therefore better not to think too much about what may have happened, it most probably had no link to the changes your son went through until his diagnosis. But I agree it is possible, after sometime of understanding and interacting with the disorders first hand, to recognise in family members, similar signs. It’s even said we are almost all autistic, just to varying degrees. It’s a journey, and it needs us everyday to learn more, mostly from our children, to be encouraged and to teach those who do not understand. I pray for all special needs children who every day try to meet milestones and to overcome challenges. I pray for all who do everything to nurture, teach and care for these children. God’s got us. Sorry for your loss Maria, it makes your autism journey that much tougher, but I believe you and your son will come out reigning. God bless.
I first read her story about the loss of her husband on Facebook via a friends timeline and I can only imagine how she feels being accused. Intercultural unions are REALLY hard not to add illiterate in laws. I pray for peace Maria. Peace that surpasses any human understanding.
Is ignorance which is bad. Sorry for your experiences just find a circle of like minded individuals who give you strength rather than those who take it away
You have told this story with alot of grace. I wish you well. Raising a child is such an important job, I can’t believe a people can say you’re eating money! That doesn’t even make any sense, not at all.
MAY GOD BLESS YOU GRACE FOR THE GOOD WORKS. MAY THE GRACE, STRENGTH AND BLESSINGS OF GOD SHINE UPON MARIA MUINDE LIFE AND HER SON. MAY SHE NEVER LACK.AMEN
Maria you are very strong! May God heal you and lead you through and through. May he surround you and Shane with love and light! I've followed your story on Facebook, and its good to finally hear the voice behind the writing.
Hello, madam, i am following closely, to story.. this exactly what, i went through, with my son. Who diagonised, with DHD autism. He,took 1 year before starting working., also speech, affected him coz he started talking whenhe was 3.. he now on speech, therapy,
It is nice to finally put a face to the facebook posts i have been keenly following. May Grace and Peace be your portion mama Shane, and may Shane grow up to be an astute servant of the Lord. Your story has touched me and motivated me to be a better husband and father. Thank you.
Maria,I always look forward to your posts on fb... You are such an amazing soul... I wish you nothing but God's grace in your life... Sending you lots of virtual hugs mama Shane
The noise you heard for a period of time is called agonal breathing, it makes you think that they are breathing but most likely the heart has stopped and the brain is trying to keep you alive, the 'truck stop' you describe is maybe the death rattle when all breath is expelled from the body. This event is a typical heart attack. Everyone who dies is due to a heart attack even through drowning, electrocution, illness, etc when the heart and brain stop functioning then that's it.
I am seated here wondering why it took too long for anyone to do anything to save this life. One of those preventable deaths but no one acted quickly or thought outside the box. Sad indeed. I am not a doctor but next time someone passes out or is unresponsive call for help right away and start CPR.

Much respect for allowing yourself to be vulnerable, raw and honest. Also thanks for educating me on autism.

Maria you always inspire me , yani salute ma....hugs from one special needs mum to another
I wish the society can embrace us instead of judging I'm a mother to an autistic child, it's not easy I'm stigmatized judged....it's sad
It is sad that people don't understand that kids with developmental disability have gifts to be celebrated.

I wish someone could facilitate Maria's therapy, she is in so much pain that she needs to be supported through by a qualified psychologist.
