Les pièces que j'avais travaillé sont des suites de Georg Böhm et des sonates de Domenico Scarlatti (k27, k99 et k238/k239), Les Cyclopes de J.-P. Rameau et les préludes no.5 et no.7 de l'art de toucher le clavecin de François Couperin. Ce fut deux beaux été.

I must drop a note about fingerings. Every conventional pianist will be revolted to see his fingers, with the thumb so often on the black keys. The traditional school of Czerny and Cramer defended to put the thumb on a black key, which is stupid. I learnt from Sellier to use the thumb on black keys without shame. If you play Bach's WTC, or Partitas by avoiding the thumb on black keys, you will have a problem with your 4th and 5th fingers-I am of course talking about the right hand. But the same applies for the left hand. As Richter said, quoting Heinrich Neuhaus in an interview with Johannes Schaaf: -Machen Sie so wie es bequem ist!
Well, that’s totally misrepresenting what the tradition told. In C.P.E. Bach’s True Art of Playing on Keyboard Instruments, it is also recommended to avoid the thumb on the black keys, but there is a whole world of difference between telling someone to avoid something and forbidding someone to do something.

On very many harpsichords, black keys are white and vice e versa.
