No lol. He also lost the god abilities he had when he was the god of war. The version of kratos that had the most magical abilities was the kratos at the beginning of god of war 2. That version of kratos according to the lore had all the abilities from chains of Olympus, ascensions and god of war 1 on top of having all of the abilities of ares which he inherited from ares and also had the abilities he had gained when he first opened Pandora’s box. He also had a magic ability which was gifted to him by Apollo after he was officially crowned god of war. He used this power in the comic. It’s basically a spell that allowed kratos to absorb solar radiation and fire a beam of sun light to vaporize anything infront of him. He used it to vaporize a monster that was the size of an island in that comic. He also had prophetic visions as well which we see in ghost of Sparta which he used to find his mother and Deimos. After Zeus tricked him to absorb his powers into the blade of Olympus he lost all that magical abilities. That version of kratos was so powerful that Zeus literally had to make sure kratos was fully mortal before confronting him. He knew kratos would’ve folded him if he didn’t trick kratos into giving up his powers.

Surtr is the primordial of fire for the Norse pantheon and the primordial of fire for the greek pantheon was a primordial called “chaos”. Mabye the reason kratos cant use any of his old magic is because greece no longer exist and the rebuild of the greek world turned it into the roman world. i believe your correct while it would still be Greece i believe the reason kratos can't summon the powers is because when he left the few mortals left would have started worshiping the roman versions of the Greek pantheon and also the well known pagan gods of the region so the powers kratos had would have transferred to the new incarnation of that god which is why it took years for the magic to leave him every time a god took up a dominion kratos killed the power transferred into them because kratos was no longer worshipped in Greece

I love the idea of the orbs being a real thing and not just a game mechanic. The greek gods steal or give away power left and right throughout the whole series, while the Norse gods rely on their own power and try to shine the most in their specific powers. They are very competitive, with their very afterlife even being based on combat. Plus, the idea of Kratos absorbing things like magic power from an enemy, or absorbing life essence in order for him to heal from any wounds he sustained in battles, plus taking the literal blood of his enemies to make his weapons stronger. Lorewise, that all makes so much sense for Kratos. He was the "God of Strength" first (if you consider actual Mythology sources of "Cratos" even if that's not canon in God of War) and God of War second. So naturally his power would be to take power and make himself the strongest their is. He literally wills himself to be the strongest because he has lost the most. He needs to be stronger so he can finally win at something, or to compensate for being too weak before to save his loved ones from corrupt gods.

He did lose his powers, but for some reason or another, certainly not that what Freya, an foreign god has theorized, that so many just take as some confirmation.
In the in-game lore about Wisps its described how magic flows through the Nine Realms.
Thats how it works there, the magic is bound to nature.
In Greek world all significant magic and power is bound to dieties or comes from them. Freya doesnt know this and cant make an confirmation on this. The Blades of Chaos still work cause no one destroyed Chaos or Tartarus, simple as that.
And the Blade of Olympus also was shown to glow and work just fine after Zeus' death.
Not to mention the elephant in the room, that in the Greek world Gaia is the Earth. Literally. All power isnt bound to Gaia nor does it depend on her well-being.
Kratos didnt agree or confirm Freya's statement at all cause he knows it doesnt add up.
As for his olympian GoW powers, its gone and over. Thats Kratos true peak, anyone who truly got familiar with the immense powers that an God of Olympus wielded, in the Novels knows this.
The power that Kratos inherited from Ares, the "meta-physical" responsibilities that Helios talked about.
Pretty sure Kratos wont ever see WW2 and Iraq in our real life universe again, if you catch my drift lol.
Whatever role or mantle Kratos now takes on in Freya's council, will be symbolic as Mimir put it.

    @domacleod 8 месяцев назад

Fair points but if this is the case then they would need to have Kratos come upon a blue orb / blue stone and absorb it and accidentally use one of the many powers he acquired in Olympus. It would confirm the theory yes but also confirm that the orbs/stones are canon things (in the games, where they're never really mentioned and only play a role as game mechanics).
The thing is, no other god from the 9 realms of norse mythology is ever seen using orbs or stones to power up, which means Mimir would notice Kratos doing such a unique thing, even if he can't see the stones, i.e. "Brother, I've noticed in combat, you sometimes go to specific places, outside of the enemies' range, and stomp the ground. What's that about?"
The fact Mimir does not mention anything of the sort, ever, is a fairly big hole in this theory.
Also, while the orbs may have been canonized by the books, they were a thing specific to Greece, and they do not imply that the stones in the 9 realms are also canon.
Plus, Atreus can also absorb health and rage stones, and never in the greek mythology has it been the case that a god's offsprint inherited their power. They all get fairly random powers. Gods in the norse mythology do inherit similar powers, yes, but Atreus is born of a Greek god and a Norse non-god. It wouldn't make sense for him to work like a Norse god. He has nothing to do with the Norse gods aside from the meta information we as players have, that Loki was a god in the norse mythology. He's not aesir, he's not vanir. He's greek.
I can't see a way to shoehorn the theory into working with both Mimir never mentioning that Kratos stomps the ground randomly, Atreus also being able to absorb health and rage, and without the developers ever making Kratos find a blue orb and releasing an old power (could be a subtle thing even, like causing rain with Poseidon's power after encountering a blue orb/stone in Tyr's vault, but we see no such thing)

I think it's because Hope is something different from the magic of Greece, the blades of chaos the only thing that seems to be intact is stated how it's made with primordial flames/magic which seems to be something different from the regular magic from the other weapons and isn't linked to Greece.
The emotions like hope and the many more sinister evil from the box might not be as linked to Olympus/Greece compared to the rest. They can very well of existed as separated from Greek and the Olympians.
Primordial energy seems to exist in the different mythologies/pantheon granted so does magic but it seems the games make a certain distinction between each pantheons magic but with the primordial magic it seems as if there isn't much distinction since Surtur is still able to use it with no issue.
But idk I might need to clean up on my knowledge of the lore or something

    Let's reiterate some things
Kratos put all his powers in the blade of olympus, had to go back in time to stop Zeus from killing him, but he still died (there was 2 "Kratoses") he takes back the blade but I'm pretty sure he didn't 'take back' his powers. He then dies again, loosing yet again whatever power he got, proceeds to steal a fraction of other gods's powers/weapons then all his weapons got destroyed against zeus. The blades of chaos were still in the god of war temple so when olympus was completely wiped out they started following Kratos. Greece being destroyed or not literally has nothing to do with that. I don't even know how is he still a "god" after he lost his powers that many times but he never losses hope. There is some serious nonsense with the storyline since it became godofboi.

Valhalla kinda confirmed that the power of Hope are still within Kratos but he just don't know, hell, after his redemption arc, he is the embodiment of Hope and it is his godhood now, no longer a bloodthirsty God of War that doesn't care about anything except his goals. Which is why i believe his next game will be called God of Hope, Valhalla is the end of the Ghost of Sparta and also a new beginning for something truly better.

Do the gods need blue orbs though? Considering how often they spam their magic in fights it does seem they can at least regenerate it naturally. Not to mention the rage of the gods power they give to kratos can grant infinite magic. I know kratos as a god in ghost of sparda and the beginning of 2 needed blue orbs but i figured that was a gameplay mechanic.

2:30 My best take? It's cuz Greece may be rebuilt, but it ain't the same old Greece anymore. There may be new kinds of magic out there, but Kratos would have to go there to acquire them. It's like, if your PS5 broke, and then you got an XBOX Series X. Sure, you can play games, but you probably won't be able to play your PS5 games any longer. You'd have to stick to only your XBOX.

Tyrs whole purpose was to show and get kratos to realize he still has hope in himself. Can’t wait for the next time we see kratos. The next time we see kratos it will probably be the strongest version of kratos we’ve seen because the next time we see him he’s probably have mastered all the abilities that comes with the power of hope. Even stronger than end of god of war 3 kratos. The only ability we really got to see from the power of hope was the ability to wield the blue flames of Olympus which we see kratos summon on his hands after he kills Zeus. That flame was so powerful that no god could touch it. I wonder what other abilities the power of hope gives. Cory and Bruno valezquez confirmed that the ability to turn giant is also an ability that is given by the power of hope. So that’s two abilities we know of so far.

So are the blades of chaos omniversal because aren't they made from the fires of every mythologies so that means no matter where he goes the blades will always have power have to ask what will humanity do what the Greek weapons that Zeus broke in his astral form will calliope and Deimos come back to life because if Hades does not rule the underworld anymore can the souls choose to come back and without the fates humans can control their own fate since kratos killed off the sisters will humanity use the power of Hope to choose who is worthy of becoming the Roman gods or use the Greek weapons to create them
