@@FLYALLSZN btw I love your channel, I’m a fellow NM fly fisherman and it really inspires me. So here’s a question, what would you recommend for reasonable path to descend into the gorge or Taos area rio grande? I have read tons of info, have all the books but would love your thoughts on it. Thanks
@@FLYALLSZN Learn! Yo have the Heart, youth and strength! At 59, I could not hike those paths you take! In addition, you go alone in Bear, Lion and wolf country! May God keep you safe and sharing! Nice work!
Mike, Just stumbled upon your videos and I need to say great job and super enthusiasm !!! My wife and I are in NM and have fly fished the San Juan........trip you need experience.........and a number of smaller lakes. Your review of the Chiflo Trail into the Gorge is definitely on our bucket list. I noticed you're wearing either a GPS or PBL......can you share a little more info about that unit ! Great job and tight lines !!! Joe
Hell yeah Joe! Thank you so much! The GPS unit is called a Garmin "Inreach" and it is basically a SOS/Satellite Messenger. For my solo adventures it is extremely important.
That spey rod is beastly! You could likely land any fish you ever find in the gorge with that thing! Really wanna make it down to NM and film and fish in the Gorge with you sometime. Nice vid man, tough conditions with the wind but still looked fun!
So cool to see you fishing in my hometown of Questa. And equally cool to see you finding success in some familiar runs! The rio grande del Norte/ wild rivers area is a special place bro!
I’ve got plenty switch rods if you really want to tackle trout spey. Nice to see some others in NM going after two handlers. Unfortunately some local shops that claim to be a “resource” had no idea what I was talking about.
Few questions on the spey - how'd you learn to spey cast? What type of line, tip, fly were you using? I picked up a second hand spey recently and had a LOT of trouble figuring out the cast.
Awesome trout fishing they were so beautiful and I just loved the scenery I recently did a trout fishing video it is so peaceful especially since I have been distracted with school love that bait that you use I have the exact same one my favourite is the lucky strike spinners thought anyway have a happy Halloween!!
Man I loooove streamer fishing, good grief . Man we should fish, I think we’d get along like ga gang busters dude! I pretty much eat, breath, dream, fly fishing. Setting the hookmin my sleep more often than not.
You needed a 5 wt 11’ for that water actually that’s to small of water for Spey. All your doing with that rod is beating yourself up. Loved the vid though.
You're enthusiasm for fly fishing (and I'm sure life) is contagious, sir!
It’s hard to beat! Thank you so much!
Bravo for trying something out of the comfort zone and it paid off in spades!
That's what its all about! I like trying as much new stuff as possible!

That fly pattern looks like a "Blow Torch" fly! Beautiful country, well done!
I dont know fly patterns! I just tie and fish them!

Beautiful scenery, thanks for sharing your trip with us :)
Your energy is infectious Dude. Awesome video
Thank you so much Daniel!
Mike, your vids are off the hook brother. Amazing job! VERY professional. Stick with it. You are a pro!
Thank you so much!

Hell yeah man! I sure hope it can haha You should! Weather stays pretty nice down here for the most part.
Great vid once again! Loving and enjoying the content bro!
Thank you so much!!
Monster rod Mike. Great content as always. Tight lines brother
Thank you so much!! Trying to approach a problem at a different angle haha

It’s incredible! You have to work for every inch down there but that’s my niche!
Wild rivers is beautiful for a reason. Not many will brave the trails. Love the area. You are lucky to live close by

Hell yeah! The Spey was a bit big.. But just the concept is SO COOL. I will for sure be back out there with it soon!
Nice video… just fished the rio grande and red, first time to New Mexico. Beautiful.
Thank you!!
You gotta take that Spey on the chama brother!
Gotta love the spey
Not exactly practical... But super fun!
Try some of the smaller trout speys, they're awesome. I use my 11' 3wt trout spey alot. Swings streamers well and makes an awesome nymph rod
I am most certainly trying to get my hands on some smaller gear!
nice lol. had a hard time on the current finding what to use weird time here in missouri!
Fall can be a really tough time! Those transition periods can make for fickle fish
Waltz worms with a soft hackle trailer should dig EM up!
@@fishhandsfranky thank you, I will give her a try!

nvm on the flies - kept watching the video lol
I am new to the game! Happy this helped!

Sweet video man! Place was absolutely gorgeous
Thank you so much!!
Where is this river at?
New Mexico!
Love the video footage.
Thank you so much Rob!
Great video bro!! You should invest in a trout spey rod though. A lot more fun than that beast of a rod. Redington Dually 4wt, or Claymore 4wt.
I really want one! I know I should invest.. I just don’t use it enough to justify just yet
Great content Mike! I need to get down there! Do you backpack anywhere in The gorge?
Thank you so much! There are a bunch of spots to camp down there but I have never stayed!
We got into some good ones on the lower red today 😉
Hell yeah 🙌🏼🙌🏼

Ga ga ga gang busters ahahahaha
During the spawn, work eggs patterns my friend! Semi-pro trip my dude..
I’ll have to start tying up a few! 🙌🏼
For fish who are spawning you get em on streamers. Egg patterns work on the back side if you find some reds
Spey looks bad to the bone Mike!
Crispy

Oh I am well aware! But that is all I have so that is what I am going to use! Maybe one day when I have the money I can get a nice trout Spey!
