Actually there were 3 climaxes in this novel, in chapter 2, 12, 23!
As well as 2 sub-climaxes in chapters 7, 17 ..
Also, as for the part of Hester and Chillingworth, we are already told that Hester never ever loved Chillingworth and that's in chapter 4. (The Interview).

I want a more in-depth analysis of this piece... can someone explain how the Scarlet Letter is an allegory referring to the life of Hawthorne himself?
i just know that he chose to write the novel set in the 17th century because his ancestor was a judge at the salem witch trials which even made him change his name because he was so ashamed of it. So i guess a parallel can be drawn between the authors shame and maybe Dimmesdale? Both ashamed but unable to process the guilt years later.

@@reesebonin9890 the book never mentioned what dimmes had on his chest that remains a mystery and dimmes was never married so a scarlet letter would not make sense on his chest
That is totally up to your interpretation. The writer left it open ended.
