Poker seems like it would be 5-10x more fun to play if I had Bart's perspective and insights in real-time during hands. Must have taken a lot of time and effort to develop such a nuanced understanding of the game.
Thank you for your descriptive thought process on this end of action spot! I learn so much from the various ways you explain and understand how the board textures affect the weighting of an opponents range. Looking forward to learning much more through your website.
I think Kx spades & Kx Diamonds could certainly be included in opponents flop floating range.... which would add several additional combos that Hero could get value from by betting this river.
Firstly, the caller is annoying to listen to. Love the analysis towards the end of the call with the caller muted. It was really instructive. I think instinctually I would want to bet my hand there but it might not be so clear.
LOL thanks for the content Bart and for your patience with this dude. Dunno why people call in to justify their bad play and not just listen and learn ...
Really, why did he call? If the ENTIRE hand is just based on this ONE player - then do what you want. As get pointed out often, when a caller says "villain has to have X" or "villain is the biggest fish" they are trying to justify a deviation they made that didn't pay. Like here. "Hero" is LUCKY this fish didn't raise and take the last $250 from caller.
The reasoning for BD flushes making up a big portion of villain's calling range makes sense, but given that Qx is also a big part, wouldn't the best line here, as is often the case, just be to bet/fold like 1/4 pot?
I like the hand breakdown. Since V was not afraid of Q and K, this means: he has either 2 pairs (any) or backdoor flush draw. Therefore: river is check back. (Calling stations cannot see this and they bet river).
When the villain calls the turn when the Kh comes I put him on a flush draw, perhaps Ah4h or Ah6h. But, when the villain doesn't bet the river, I am less confident of what he has. I think I would have checked the river because I don't know what the villain could have that he would call with and be beat by trip 10s.
Bart, when you get there with 65hh and your flush is clearly disguised considering that caller's thought process, should we be raising for value despite having such a weak flush?
Caller going on his lil tangents and correcting Bart about the specific amount of the bet and pot when they aren't relevant is the most annoying style of caller
People that say "It's not the nuts" when I use "nuts" in reference to an unbelievably strong and obvious best hand like aces full or an ace high flush are equally annoying. These players don't understand what is actually relevant. Bart
How come so many of these callers who are not regs or CLP subs have such extreme one off hands or circumstances (involving players, situations etc.). Most of these people are NOT calling to understand or learn anything or learn any concepts. They’re oblivious and it’s not their agenda So many are either calling with a bad beat story or to explain why some crazy hero call they made worked out Just childish immaturity at its finest looking for recognition and a pat on the back/positive reinforcement ..... All of those calls literally have no “value” (No pun intended)... Zero if I were Bart, I’d filter all that nonsense out ... and then block anyone who emails in a hand then proceeds to misrepresent it live Fuck all that and fuck all these jokers 🤡 (pun INTENDED)
80% with like $100 behind? ludicrous bet sizing...just awful, imo... sure, bet 25-35% and still be able to fold to a jam and preserve a fair amount of your stack...
This is what I don’t understand. He’s putting the villian on 6x, straight draw, maybe even 9s... Claims he’s betting for value on the flop and turn because he believes he’s ahead. None of these hands can call that big a bet on the river, I don’t care how bad of a player he claims other guy is. Of course he then goes against he prior statement by thinking player could now have a K or Q on the river. Overall terrible caller.
The poker insight you provide is thoughtful and practical. But in some cases, like this instance, the caller can create a painful situation. Maybe just recreate the hand with your narration alone, rather than actual back-and-forth conversation.
i don't think the backdoor flush is so obvious here... i remember that other video where the caller folded 98 suited flush because she put the opponent on an A high flush based on preflop and postflop action. To me, the backdoor flush looks much more likely in that hand than this one. If this opponent is as sticky and crazy as described, he can have anything, and villain can't be 100% sure guy is raising off the hands he believes hes raising. i expect someone sticky to float the flop with a King and maybe even call down with a Queen.
Unrelated question. Why is everyone playing on Poker Bros? Our group has been playing on Pokerrr2 since the quarantine which has better app ratings, but every video is someone playing on Poker Bros. Are we missing something?
Well fine, but if the player is that much of an insane calling station then why call in? Obviously you bet this turn and river for value and if they happen to have a flush then it’s just a cooler.
I think you have to go for some value here on the river....Villians most likely Holding is QX based on play. Villian runner runners a flush, it is what it is....can not check river here.
Yeah, why even call in? If you’re convinced your opponent is such a calling station that they’ll call with a pair of 3s on that turn then what advice are you looking for?
If V is so sticky loose and passive and could "have anything" then he could many higher pairs, two pairs, sets on the turn.Hero really overplayed his hand on the turn trying to be a thin value champ, same on river.I suppose he thinks its a bad beat but not when you do stupid things
how about bet/folding river..(maybe $175 or so)...that's gotta be better than pot-committing yourself...regardless of the villain's percieved attributes, i think that bet sizing was atrocious...anyone else think that?
Edit; Bart muted him for 'background noise' like a boss

I've seen only a couple of your vids, but this one is the best one for me. Great learnings here
I think Kx spades & Kx Diamonds could certainly be included in opponents flop floating range.... which would add several additional combos that Hero could get value from by betting this river.
sure, but how about betting like 1/3 pot instead of essentially pot-committing your whole stack?
Firstly, the caller is annoying to listen to. Love the analysis towards the end of the call with the caller muted. It was really instructive. I think instinctually I would want to bet my hand there but it might not be so clear.

Awesome lesson. I’ll be replaying that logic in my head for a bit
Not surprised that bart says he would check this river. It's easy to make all the right decisions when you have all the information after the fact.
Really, why did he call? If the ENTIRE hand is just based on this ONE player - then do what you want. ❤️ how Bart tactfully muted the caller so he could talk when caller kept repeating same thing & not letting Bart talk. 👍👍
blamed it on "background noise" vs telling him to zip it! 😅

Brilliant breakdown...

I’m shoving for value. What flushes does hero have? Not many.
But maybe villian is thinking he is only getting called by better, it depends on the opponent.
Caller going on his lil tangents and correcting Bart about the specific amount of the bet and pot when they aren't relevant is the most annoying style of caller

5 bet pot, Hero has AA on a board of Ah 3h Jc 5h As.. "you dont have the nuts! 24hh is the nuts!"
CrushlivePoker absolutely- “stage 5” immaturity

How to make Adobe bricks
How would you have played the hand from villans perspective? Check raise turn or river?
Great analysis n thank you 🙏🏼
Usually you bet small to medium when you go for thin value (25-50%). How can bet 80% pot on the river here?
Because to him it wasnt thin
80% with like $100 behind? ludicrous bet sizing...just awful, imo... sure, bet 25-35% and still be able to fold to a jam and preserve a fair amount of your stack...

No need look further this guy won the annoying of the year single handedly.
When you constantly interrupt someone trying to help you and has more skills than you... Thanks for muting the caller, definitely learned something.
Caller needs to be charged with a DUI, the dude was weaving and swearving all over the place. Officer Bart could barely keep him on the road.....
Never brought up the fact he called $50 pre. And $50 was considered a little larger then most. Even "crazy" players pick up hands too.
Sounds like the talkative guy from the cracking aces podcast
The poker insight you provide is thoughtful and practical. But in some cases, like this instance, the caller can create a painful situation. Maybe just recreate the hand with your narration alone, rather than actual back-and-forth conversation.
This caller is a major fish, one time he shoved all in pre on me with jack deuce and then slow rolled the 222 flop vs my Kings.
Really?

If you have a made hand, then you should probably still bet if they're on a back door draw.
I want to to play in that game...
I am the caller
I’ve seen people that couldn’t fold a pair of 2 with 5 people in the pot and betting going crazy
Well fine, but if the player is that much of an insane calling station then why call in? Obviously you bet this turn and river for value and if they happen to have a flush then it’s just a cooler.
Look like in this hand the hero is the fish.
could have been two pair as well as Qx or 4x or 6x
I think you have to go for some value here on the river....Villians most likely Holding is QX based on play. Villian runner runners a flush, it is what it is....can not check river here.
The “but my opponent is crazy” argument fizzles more and more with every episode
Yeah, why even call in? If you’re convinced your opponent is such a calling station that they’ll call with a pair of 3s on that turn then what advice are you looking for?
Bet fold. Never checking here. So many hands they can run into and show up with that a set of tens beat that will call river bet
agree... bet fold definitely the optimal
play
Thin value not thin enough.
It is interesting sometimes, when you hear that voice. it's just so annoying and you keep thinking "Shut the FXXX up!". Just tell us what happened.
If the player calls everything then just value bet the shit out of them and the boards don't matter...
This caller is a pretty annoying
Seems like the caller is lying to himself
Omg caller, shut up for a second.
I'm sorry. I'm a sticky MFer, but even I'm folding 3s on the turn.
Wow I'm first?
Annoying caller. Can't see that in email unfortunately

Your sizing is even worse
I think any one holding 4x or 6x will fold to a $50 bet preflop
