I wish I could have had a chance to figure this out myself, but I couldn't wait to buy/make it, so I had to find out the answer now. I wish there was a way I could unlearn the solution while retaining my satisfaction of watching the video.
You can also make it more difficult by adding more loops in the center. At some point it becomes impossible due to the rope length not being long enough, but the two loop version is even trickier than the one loop version!
Years later, and still as helpful and relevant as ever! Thank you so much for doing this video. I got one as gift, and just about gave up trying to solve it. Figured I'd try RUclips as a last resort, and your video came up first. Much appreciated. Simple and easy to follow instructions and good visual demonstration.
You're one of my new favorite youtubers, you should consider doing some videos on puzzle theory and your personal creative process for puzzle designing as well as solving. Happy solving!
I hope to have start a video series on puzzle theory next week, with a video on twisty puzzle techniques. I could also think about doing puzzle design videos, but I haven't planned any out. Let me think about it!
Fine Kindling How do you solve such a puzzle? :o Do you just try and error? Or do you think for 5 minutes and then just solve it? ^^ Or something different? :p Please answer!
I solved this more than 6 years later after I bought the puzzle. Words couldn't express the joy I have when I can finally solved it. The one I bought is the version where there were 2 towers but the moves were the same. I am glad someone made a video on how to solve this in such a clear and precious way. Great job!
Hey Fleb, thanks to RUclips janky algorithm I was introduced to your videos. Good content. Have you seen the Japanese rope puzzle that took 10 years to solve?
I'm a puzzle enthusiast and solve puzzles honestly. You can always solve this puzzle and other related ones by means of abstract ideas like "Mobility" which is essential for the pieces' movement in smooth action, avoiding dislocations and loose thread to the puzzle. Another one is "Trial and Error". At first you don't have a clue so try to move the pieces freely and every time you wound it (lack of moves) obviously you will free again and have space for mobility and finding the route for the puzzle. My hint to this puzzle and you will always figure-it out when the pieces (discs, ring and rope) are tied. Actually you will always loose it and start again.
I just happened across this. I have never seen either of these puzzles. When you explained the first one, sliding the ring thru the hole, it made my brain tingle. Very cool video.
You know you're a nerd when you're up late at night at 11pm watching how-to puzzle videos on RUclips. Thanks for sharing this video. I found it....stimulating.
This puzzle stamped me for a while a few years back, but as the puzzle wasn't mine (it was a teacher's) I usually had about an hour or so before I had to give it back to him. I loved figuring out the answer though and I kept practicing with it to get the technique consistent (which was rather fun on its own right)
Hey FLEB, thanks for sharing this. I gifted this puzzle to one of my friends about 20 years ago. Never got any luck solving it. I would think about this puzzle often but could not remember its design. Now that I have seen it again, I am going to make one.
It's a similar video to this one, but not exactly the same! That one was about pushing knots through holes, while this one is about moving rings past lines. They're fundamentally different mechanics!
Wow, you upped your production on this one. It flowed together so well! One thing that stood out to me was your use of "let's get started" instead of "after the spoiler break". It feels much more natural!
This reminds me of the video about old japanese man, who couldn't solve a similar puzzle like this for 10 years until a guy from TV show helped him to solve it eventually. I guess it also use the same tricks on moving ropes through the hole there. It's good to see the idea of original one applied to its variation though.
Hi, First of all, Id like to say that I enjoy watching your channel. Second, I would like to make a request for you to show more unique and elegant puzzles, especially if they may be reproduced easily by paper or 3D printer. For example, the IPP puzzles, puzzle at end of book. Thanks, and keep up the videos!
I don't know why, but for some reason, you're content has recently really peaked my interest. I'm not really a puzzle kind of guy but your channel is just interesting!
Your video structure doesnt get enough praise. You're articulate but concise and placing your title clip (or whatever you call it) in the middle of the video is a nice touch and a good break away point for anyone who doesn't want to have the puzzle solved for them. Also your intro clip is well designed. Over all you're becoming one of my new favourite youtubers. Like some one commented below and as others have said on your previous videos it'd be really cool if you delved deeper into other puzzle related concepts!
It's not the exact same puzzle, but it's very similar! That puzzle was about pushing knots around through holes, which this one is about moving rings past lines. They're fundamentally different, but very similar!
This reminds me of a puzzle i saw once, a japanese man had a puzzle he couldnt solve for 30 years. He turned to a game show host who eventually solved it. The solution was the string not the 2 balls. it was quite surprising.
Yep! It's not the same mechanic (the modern version that I've seen of that puzzle is called the "loupe de loupe"), but it's also a good puzzle! It involves pushing knots through holes, as a lot of string puzzles do.
lol I've had this thing on my desk for like 5 years. After a while I got the ring off, but I keep trying to get the rope off too. lol I had no idea the rope doesn't come off.
Another great video. 2 things 1) Can we see some of you're own puzzle designs and what inspired you to make them and 2) Do you know the sequential discovery puzzle known as 'the egg' and if you don't you should definitely check it out!
1. Here's a puzzle I designed. The answer is an English word or phrase: www.baphl.org/15/static/puzzles/puzzle_1-8.pdf 2. Yes! I have a copy! At least, if it's the Wil Strijbos Egg puzzle. There are a lot of egg puzzles.
1) Yep thats the one, probably my favourite sequential discovery puzzle simply from the form factor and the amount of move/steps that fit into it. Great engineering! 2) Very cool. Took me quite a while and I think I have the answer...Paperweight?
That's correct! At the actual event, you would have received the "BAPHL 15 Commemorative Paperweight", which had the real answer needed for the metapuzzle on it.
FLEB Cool! Are you from Boston or do you just design for the Baphl contest? Fun fact, I have a friend/pen pal from Boston and sometimes he Skype me to help him with his puzzles. He took part in Baphl 12 and 14 I think...
FLEB I am proud that I actually figured this one out in my head 30 seconds in! I enjoy watching your videos and look forward to seeing more! P.S. Would love to see you open an Etsy-type store selling puzzles from makers or yourself.
Me too. The cadence is more like Peabody than Sherman but the timbre is different. If you're not old enough to remember the original Peabody & Sherman cartoons you can find "Peabody & Sherman / Fairytale Rapunzel" on YT.
Is it weird that i solved the puzzle in my head before you showed the solution?? Im not necessarily a puzzle solving type person but this one just solved itself for me in my head lol
Il a pas encore vu la technique de Squeezie
Antoine pas encore...
very cool!
Vsauce wow is it really you?
Oh hey Vsauce
Please reply to me you are everything. Your videos helped me introduce my girlfriend to STEM fields and we watch all of your uploads. I love you
This guy gets it
Vsauce Hey Vsauce! Very surprising to find you comment here.
FLEB's signature quote...
"...but doing so is very tricky."
I never realized I said that so much!
Yikes, you just ruined this mans life 😂😂
FLEB you didn't realise it? Alot of people didn't. After all, doing so is very tricky
I saw this puzzle in a Japanese show and the old man took 10 years trying to solve it.
Jm it was on the frontpage of reddit a few weeks ago as well
Jm it was a completely different puzzle. not like this one.
You can buy it on lishopi.com/product/japanese-hard-ring-puzzle/
That was different you had to move the ring from one ball to the other
That's. Where this one came from
I wish I could have had a chance to figure this out myself, but I couldn't wait to buy/make it, so I had to find out the answer now. I wish there was a way I could unlearn the solution while retaining my satisfaction of watching the video.
I'll probably fuckin forget it eventually anyway. I should go ahead and make one of these and throw it in a closet until by brain is ready.
You can also make it more difficult by adding more loops in the center. At some point it becomes impossible due to the rope length not being long enough, but the two loop version is even trickier than the one loop version!
Isn't that just more back and forth though? It might increase exponentially (speculation) but it seems straightforward
I got myself in the 2 loop version on accident 😢@@FLEBpuzzles
Yeah, man, I tell you what, man, dang ring puzzle, man, Boomhauer making crazy ole solutions, talkin' 'bout yo, man.
GameKrang I was looking for this comment 😂
GameKrang
I was starting to worry no one made a boomhauer joke, thank you for your service.
"Now I've taken mine and broken it"
The real way to beat the puzzle is to cut the rope off
Ahhh the The Alexander the Great way
I'd rather smash & burn it.
lol
+BurningTrif I was about to say the same thing...
True

Please do, this would be great :)
I actually just posted a comment asking the same thing but deleted it when I saw yours xD

Hey Fleb, thanks to RUclips janky algorithm I was introduced to your videos. Good content. Have you seen the Japanese rope puzzle that took 10 years to solve?
Yes! That was a great video! The actual puzzle that he had was the "Loop de Loop" ring puzzle.
Thanks for the reply and the information. Now I want to see the puzzle hands on!
that 10 yr puzzle is the reason i subscribed to FLEB :). where could i buy one tho??
you can buy it on lishopi.com/product/japanese-hard-ring-puzzle/

Donc fallait pas le déboîter Squeezie.
Hahaha
That's a nice dang-ol' puzzling puzzle I tell you hwat
I just happened across this. I have never seen either of these puzzles. When you explained the first one, sliding the ring thru the hole, it made my brain tingle. Very cool video.
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for this! We were finally able to solve the puzzle at my Dad’s that had been messing with us for years.
You know you're a nerd when you're up late at night at 11pm watching how-to puzzle videos on RUclips. Thanks for sharing this video. I found it....stimulating.
Thanks, I have one of these with 2 pillars and 2 rings. Had me totally stumped. I'll give it another shot.
This puzzle stamped me for a while a few years back, but as the puzzle wasn't mine (it was a teacher's) I usually had about an hour or so before I had to give it back to him. I loved figuring out the answer though and I kept practicing with it to get the technique consistent (which was rather fun on its own right)
It's a great puzzle, isn't it?
Never thought I would see a puzzle channel on RUclips
Those keep blowing my mind! Please keep the puzzles coming! Thanks for investing so much time!
Hey FLEB, thanks for sharing this. I gifted this puzzle to one of my friends about 20 years ago. Never got any luck solving it. I would think about this puzzle often but could not remember its design. Now that I have seen it again, I am going to make one.
Go for it!
awsome. its like a japanese puzzle that after 10yrs. and finally solved. its beautiful
i don't know why this was in my recommendations but i actually really like this video !!
I'm like mega proud of myself for figuring it out before u explained it
That's awesome! It's not an easy puzzle by any means!
I watched about this on a japanese tv show in RUclips and it took a man 10 years to solve it with the loop
It's a similar video to this one, but not exactly the same! That one was about pushing knots through holes, while this one is about moving rings past lines. They're fundamentally different mechanics!
So that where the term "I'm at my wit's end" comes from. Mind blown!!
Fantastic presentation. You did a great job of narrating the process.
One of the best channels i have subscribed this year. Very cool videos.
Wow, you upped your production on this one. It flowed together so well! One thing that stood out to me was your use of "let's get started" instead of "after the spoiler break". It feels much more natural!
That was a suggestion from the comments! Seriously, all improvements have come from the comments.
FLEB Well that's one of the reasons your channel keeps getting better! You're definitely a channel that's well on its way to huge success!
My brain just isn't cut out for this man
Thanks for doing this video. I've seen the original version of this and haven't been able to find it anywhere.
Im not really interested in puzzles at all... but you kept me interested for the entire video. Superb job.
Qui est la grâce à squeezie ?
mo
bon on va pas se m mytho les français sont la a cause de squeezie
Les canadiens aussi😂
@SAFWA N s'cuse nous moliere
i finally found the right page for puzzle contents. :)
Welcome! I hope you enjoy your time here!
I've had that puzzle in my collection for about 30 years. Took me only a couple of minutes to solve it.
I don't know how the heck I got this in my suggested videos but that was very interesting!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
One of my new favorite channels on youtube (new for me). Great content!
this was my favorite puzzle when I was 12. I never knew the name of it. thanks! I'm going to get one for my nefew. :)
Awesome!
I had one of these puzzles years ago. It took 15 minutes to solve when I was 7
loved that puzzle when I was kid
I've done this puzzle before I got a little frustrated but then I got it and it was really fun
dang ol entangle puzzle mane

That was the "Loop de Loop" puzzle. Different fundamental concept, but a classic! I really enjoyed watching that video!

Yay another one
Your videos have improved so much in just a few months it's great haha

There's another video that took an old Japanese man 86 years to solve. It was the EXACT same thing as this one! :o
It's not the exact same puzzle, but it's very similar! That puzzle was about pushing knots around through holes, which this one is about moving rings past lines. They're fundamentally different, but very similar!
your videos are my blue sky
i really enjoyed this channel
Just get some scissors! I'm a genius!
if I could subscribe a million times, I would.
Janelle Rudolph Just make a million accounts. Seems pretty simple to me.
It is important that the fleb be rubbed because it has all the fleb juice.
I've just discovered your channel this morning.
subscribed and loving it.
when you're so pissed solving the puzzle you ended up smashing it 😅
very well demonstrated. But .. How to replace the ring under the two ropes again??
You are really cool fleb, I think what you do is really hard and i respect you for what you do
This reminds me of a puzzle i saw once, a japanese man had a puzzle he couldnt solve for 30 years.
Why tf does this man have such a hype intro for a puzzle
I just discovered your channel! Definitely among the most interesting left! Very funny to watch
I'm glad you enjoying it! Thank you very much for watching!
this is very satisfying. i have no idea why
...maybe you secretly like puzzles? :3
I have no idea how or why I got here....but I am fucking fascinated with your videos. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
"Dang ol disc man get caught in rings ol balls bigger than slit, man" -boomhower
Wow dude I feel like you just had like 9,000 subs first time I saw you and now you're at 42,000 congrats!
Great video once again dude.
Thanks!
lol I've had this thing on my desk for like 5 years. After a while I got the ring off, but I keep trying to get the rope off too. lol I had no idea the rope doesn't come off.
We made one of these from scratch at school as a project :)
That's awesome!
Amazing puzzle! Waiting your ebook about puzzle techniques ;)
Quality video and puzzle as always!
Thank you!
I’m your 130th subscriber congratulations

Just the ring only? I thought the string was gunna come out too.
ce moment ou te rends compte que squezzie n'avais pas compris le but du puzzle
Oh.. I had thought at first the point was the get the strings untangled and out and then the loop. Thanks
i was so perplexed and amused when he first took it off
Amazing! good work as always
I absolutely love puzzles
I love it .greetings from Suriname.south america
my grandparents have one of these and they always said their cousin made it... I never realised it was an actual puzzle... :-D
I love your videos. Great work.
You sound like Mr. Van Driessen from Bevis and butthead.
You deserve more subs and likes. Your my only fav youtuber but few vids but it's ok.
You explain it perfectly!
You have the nerdiest voice ever.
CounChocu1a I like it
Me too. The cadence is more like Peabody than Sherman but the timbre is different. If you're not old enough to remember the original Peabody & Sherman cartoons you can find "Peabody & Sherman / Fairytale Rapunzel" on YT.
Would love a video about puzzles for kids, i would love to craft some for my nephews.
It help me to correct my wheel alignment my self which I experience longtime problem even after it corrected from experts(name sakers) Thank You
Is it weird that i solved the puzzle in my head before you showed the solution?? Im not necessarily a puzzle solving type person but this one just solved itself for me in my head lol
I love your videos so much ❤️
I don't know why but this is terrifying
the no loop one was pretty easy in my opinion.. i solved it in my head.. the looped one tho seemed like it would take me a while
Glad that you shortened the animation and lowered its volume.
I miss FLEB's content 😪
simple but splendid puzzle!
Omg this is EXACTLY like differential equations.
Like it reminds me so much of applying integration rules
