RIP Fuji Heavy Industries. Always thought that was a cool name.
Same.
Fuji-san!
They also make buses, and aircraft including military. They make the Japanese Apache attack chopper (under license). Use to be Nakajima aircraft company, which made fighters and bombers for the war.
Man that stamping on the 92 Legacy is CRISP! I love the EJ22. Shame the new tags are stickers and not in the engine bay. I see too many door stickers get torn up over time. No huge deal, I just really like the plates. Useful info and cool video!
I got a stamped plate on the engine bay and the b pillar. 07 forester.
My 04 Jdm legacy gt wagon has a nice crispy metal plate 🤤
I love how short and sweet the JDM vin numbers are.
Warms the heart to hear the SVX being mentioned.
Now I better understand the innate transmission woes & why the design was inferior. Thank you.
💜 97 SVX.
Hey Mr. SUBARU! Looks like it's cold down there! Thanks for the information!
Yeah, cold for us. High was low 50s today.
May you please do more videos on 2005 Subaru Forester 2.5xs, I got one a few months back and been trying to bring it back to day one life. Finding videos on it is kind of hard for some reason, was happy when I came across your page helps big time! So please again more videos on 05 forester 2.5XS so I can do my beauty right.
The Why the ID plate is on the passenger door frame is because the VIN placard has to be on the Drivers Door Frame and the manufactures don’t want trouble with California and the Fed. Placards with VIN on it are controlled by the Fed regulation on how it looks and where it has to be located. As I understand; using a sticker allows the manufacturer and the dealer to put a barcode on the car to help with inventory control
Also if Vins start with J are made in Japan and with numbers are made in US (this even apply to other Japanese brands or K for Korea). Engines first generation say ej25d (dohc) or ej20e (sohc), while newers will say ej251 o numbers after.
Unless USDM uses different 'codes', the first two letters are original destination market (possibly U= USA, I=one of the states), 3rd and 4th letter denote equipment packages.
Factory service manuals for newer models (BL/BP) explain option codes in detail.
D in EZ30D engine code stands for D-MPI DOHC 6 cylinders ...
I always thought the D was dual over head cams for the N/A variants because EZ30D, EJ25D were dual, then the JDM EJ20D was a dual as well
That sounds like the winner. I remembered the EJ25D and the fact that the EZ and EG engines ended in D, but wasn't sure if there was an exception to the rule.
It seems like our 06 Forester and 18 XV has a sticker in the door jam on the passenger side in South Africa. It shows all these codes in addition to the weights and Build date, Month and year.
Great video mrsubaru! Thanks for the information!
You're welcome 👍🏻
@@MrSubaru1387 👊
great info....thanks for posting. stay warm.....
That’s why on my vin now I know what BMD means !
I think you’re right on D code for the engine
No he’s not. E denotes single cam head D denotes dual cam head. Phase 2 and later engines is where it became a 3 number numbering system.
I don't know where codes are on any Subaru other than 2005-2009. All info can be pulled from the VIN, left side windshield, engine bay rear top right center and driver door jam. Engine code and serial number are top front of the block. Transmission code and serial number are top front transmission/engine block directly next to starter. Rear differential type and serial number on rear differential, location differs slightly on rear differential type. There are no tags on 2005-2009 on left upper strut mount that I'm aware of. If you are in the business of swapping engine/transmission/differential, find your stamps and stickers. The video is great info no matter where you need to look for the info. If you are looking to buy any of the above, having a picture of the code and serial number, gives you the entire car's history, and if someone can't provide those 2 ID's, move on. I'm sure that info has been linked in some way since muscle cars. Buying/selling a unicorn muscle car comes down to all numbers matching. Otherwise, I could sell you a Nova and call it a Chevelle with an LS6 454, for $80k and it's just parts pieced together. Anyway, Subaru matches often come down to ECM/TCM/BCM compatibility more than just mechanics.
Question about replacing a 5 speed Impreza wrx transmission; I have only had the car for 6 mo and is my daily finding a replacement has been frustrating as the dealership don’t want to help me source a salvage
Hello Mr subaru. I have a 06 sg 2.0x forester. The rear self leveling suspension are not working and the car sits lower on the back. I heard that they can be repaired and be reused. Otherwise replaced with something new. What is your recommendation and if replaced what brand i should go with. I heard people prefer pedders easy fit. Thanks
Just wrecked my 02 outback sport, with 315,589 miles... Rest in pieces
😔 😔 💔
So I have a 2004 Impreza 2.5RS with a seller said JDM 2.0 swap. How can I figure out what engine I have exactly? I’m confused
Off topic ...how come the cars laying around the paddock do not have headlights that are full of water. Was that a problem in later models ??
You got me. 😂 😂 😂
I have a 2003 Baja , but can’t tell if it’s a sport or crew trim model. Rear shocks are different.
Hey dude just want some advice on cleaning and restoring the id plate any ideas?
Your color coat must be ice silver metallic G1U
E is single cam D is dual cam head.
Thanks. Makes since in the first iteration of engine engine, not so much after that.
Hi Mr. Subaru, long time subsriber here. I was not sure where to put this question as I don't see an ABS module video on your channel. I have a JDM 2010 Subaru STI and the ABS module went bad. I replaced it with a used USDM module and hydraulic unit of the same part number. Subaru Select Monitor 3 will not allow me to write the JDM Option code to the USDM module as it gives an error "Error on writing, Confirm if Normal Spare Parts are equipped". What are your thoughts? Thanks in advance.
Outside of my realm of repairs. Never worked on a JDM import Subaru, aside from my Sambars.
@@MrSubaru1387 Hey, wow thanks for your quick reply. Really appreciate it and love your channel. Going to have a chat with the dealership tech today, to find out if the USDM ABS can be reprogrammed to JDM spec / zeroed out. Will let you know!
Great info sir.
Do you know if there is a source for replacement driveshaft yoke bearings for the "non rebuildable" driveshaft, for a 2005 Outback wagon ?
@@MrSubaru1387 thanks
The drive shaft uses the same dimension parts as the Toyota Highlander/Lexus RX. Rockford Driveline part 430-10. See this catalog: www.motormasterpowersports.com/UserFiles/File/Staked-In%20U-Joints_Dec2015.pdf
The stakes have to be drilled or hammered out, and the universal replacement uses a slip ring on the inside of the yoke to stay in place. I used this part on my 2001 Outback when its U-Joint bearings wore out, got another 100,000k out of it before the transmission went and I retired the car. In Canada it cost me less than $250 Canadian dollars for parts and labour, vs. over $1000 for a replacement driveshaft from the dealer since they only do RNR (Rip and Replace).
So long as you have not worn the bearing out so badly that the yoke gets damaged, most non-rebuildable driveshafts are in fact rebuildable.
Sorry, read the comment wrong. I have a video on Subaru U-Joint replacement. ruclips.net/video/iigrfgVllfs/видео.html
I needed info on my 2001 e250. So I just called the ford dealer and they printed out 6 pages of info on my van. Does subaru not provide this ?
The transmission type info useless! Used car lot didnt match that sticker up to the car with the donor transmission and gave us a transmission with a different gear ratio rendering the awd useless, subaru dealer said that sticker couldnt tell you if they installed the wrong transmission, went into diagnostics and found out they actually did install the wrong one. To remedy that we would've been replacing the transmission, center gearbox differential and rear differential! They also found head gasket leaks like we suspected, the car was mechanically totalled! It would spin the back tires around corners and turns and the awd light would flash, it would cause you to spin out when icy or wet roads, had to put fwd fuse in, my dad refused to pay the dealer anymore for that car, they refused to believe it was the transmission! It got repoed sent to auction and not one maintenance record on carfax or anything since, most likely got parted or junked, our old transmission shifted fine, the reason we sent it to the garage was white smoke and overheating, and we get it back with a different transmission?! It was a 2005 legacy outback. This dealership has since sold! Never buying another subaru after this experience, especially since they use CVT in the newer ones, although I'd take the subaru over a modern honda or nissan as I hear the valve bodies go bad and not the whole transmission unlike the other brands
they located same place on newer models? I have a 2019 Impreza, could not find it
on your driver door jam
It's really rare to see North American Outback has steel plates ”Fuji Heavy Industries LTD” with Japanese Labels.
Not really, they all had them until 2010.
Yup, my 2001 outback has the same tag with the Fuji thing on it.
CAN YOU PLEASE let me know if the new 2.4t comes with breakin oil or just normal synthetic oil
Also ive had 13 subaru's from 1984 > to 2021 LEGACY XT ive used Lucas in all with great results and at what ooint can/should add to new xt turbo??
They come with regular syn. They should have a black Roki filter from the factory.
@@MrSubaru1387 I. Plan on doing a 500 & 100 mile oil change
My brothers used lucas oil stabilizer in 6cyl Toyota its got close to 400k AND no compression lose im really WANTING TO add to THE legacy XT asp
MR SUBARU completely off topic but need your advice, was changing the plugs on my 2003 forester ej20 n/a sohc and found oil on the coils each a little worse/better than the others. Any advice on what the cause is?
Leaking spark plug well seals in the rocker covers.
Cheers mate, are they much of a headache to do? Will do them this weekend
@@maybenot6075 not especially.
Ahh good, do you have a video on your channel replacing them?
