I remember I got this album from a public library because of the artwork alongside November's Doom because I was got heavily into Opeth and I remember putting this track on and as I'm listening to the intro I get this vibe that this song will kick ass and it over-delivers. I usually dislike repetitive rhythms mostly chug chug shenanigans and this is one Thrash rhythm I like if not my favorite because it'throws the listener off as a pedal tone and once you hear it once it's a wrap. Still, my favorite song from them even though I like the whole album and clean and dark vocals.
There's a sacred ancient cup Filled with royal bluish blood Sangreal, how real In a family of light Darkest secrets hide from eyes Sangreal, how real The elder blood Still runs on the veins The modern body A cup from our skin Dragon share your mystic soul With your children Make them strong Sangreal, how real In a family of light Darkest secrets hide from eyes Sangreal, how real Immortal show your fangs Reveal your hungry faces Blood needs blood Flesh needs flesh Life for life, soul for soul Immortals... There is no hope For the followers of lies There is no hope For the weak in the mind Sangreal, how real Sangreal...
You know, I originally thought the title had something to do with blood due to “sang-“ being a root term referring to it, but then I looked up the definition and found that it’s actually an obscure term for a grail. You know, as in the famous Holy Grail of Christian legend. In fact, it surprisingly doesn’t even have anything to do with blood itself.
Yeah, I wish there were more rock/metal singers who sang like that. Jonathan Davis of Korn and Serj Tankian of System of a Down come to mind, but not many others. I’m not even completely sure what that technique’s called, but it sure is awesome.
@@es0ptr0n I have been training listeninig to the Anvil of Cron for years! Another track in the same style to recommand? (Not from Conan, I heard its whole OST already)

I didn’t even know there were any public libraries that had albums this heavy! You must be lucky where you live.

Pro tip: if you try headbanging to a riff and end up jerking like you’re having a fit, then that rhythm’s probably pretty damn good.
Ah this brings back memories
